I can see his left foot come down at 1:02. It also looks like he wobbled by the way his arms were moving. I would suspect that is why he failed.
I agree with the others, skidding is not the problem if you let off the brake and re-apply you would most likely pass. Taking hands and feet off the controls during the manoeuvre is another story.
I can see this is an old video, I'm hoping went back and got his licence?
@dayvai It's not unfair, you are expected to be able to fully stop in an emergency under CONTROL. If you lock up either of your wheels you are not in control. If you correct it imediatly by letting off and on the break 9 times outa 10 they will pass you.
i just sat my mod 1 this morning on multi use site with new FROSTY tar in glasgow and me failed me because i locked the front wheel up for a couple of feet. i felt it slide, released and re applyed the brake a few times, i heard the tyre start and stop sliding and came to what i considered to be a safe stop. i didnt wobble, put a foot down or anything paniced. he failed me because "if the bike is skidding its not under control. what a load of bollocks, £200 it cost me! wish i had fallen off.
@maxdevo101 That's front wheel though, if you did that (as shown above) you could easily lose control of the vehicle, steering goes, friction with pavement goes... it's not good and should never be done if you know how to ride. Personally I locked up the rear wheel in my Mod 1 but did the same as you and re-applied and came to a stop, the front was fine. I passed with a minor due to that lockup. Rear better than front to lock

@zarterone shouldnt really have skidded front wheel though. You can see his left foot come down on to the tarmac almost, and steering goes to ratshit. If you lock up the front then I think you should fail... it's just unsafe!
paused at 1:03 you can see him put his foot down as if he was running with the bike

Question to PROs. Would he be less stable (=fall) if blocked a rear wheel too? Please explain.
Lex5151 11 months ago
@Lex5151 if he did both front and rear wheel lock he has no traction = fall most likely unless they took off the brake and gained grip again...

To be honest although he did skid, he controlled it well and didn't put a foot down
It shows he had control of the bike, and really should have been passed.
Stupid rule
zarterone 1 year ago
@zarterone If he was in good control he wouldn't have skidded the bike. Too much rear brake here!
alanjaldred 11 months ago
@alanjaldred
Agreed but he showed control and controlled the skid and came to a safe stop, if he was a novice or panicked then he could have fallen off.
A lot or bikes nowaday have ABS and you can't skid so theres no danger of failing(by way of skidding)
