@Starzcentral I don't get that far south (NJ) , but if they came to New England (a lil' farther-up the East Coast,) I'd be there. I've always Loved STARZ. I have their 1st scratched-overplayed-Album-on Vinyl.
Love these guys!!! I was too young to see them in the 70's but was very much into them at the time. I got into hard-rock and metal at a very early age and their music still stands the test of time...
i just saw starz in cleveland in nov 2009.great show!they did do an acoustic thing in the middle of the show that wasn't well received.met micheal and ritchie and george after the show.great guys!!
I went to the NASA place in Washington DC in the 80's (early to mid) and I swear they had a display machine, it plays excerpts of songs in relation to space, the onlt ones I remember were an Elton John song & the 5th dimension, but I swear they used a STARZ album cover as the main display. this was early to mid 80's and I went there twice!!! maybe it is still there or not, nasa space station in Washington DC!!! I SWEAR IT WAS THERE!!!
For unusual and rare Starz collectibles, check out StarzStuff . . . a joint charity venture from guitarist Brendan Harkin and the family of Piet Sweval. A new LIVE cd, ringtones, one of a kind items. Google it. YouTube won't let me post a URL . . .
Thank you so much ProperGroupie for posting this. I am a big fan of Starz and Michael Lee Smith since way back in the 70"s! Was fortunate to meet Mr. Smith and Mr. Ranno too, at first show in my town. Super nice people. Glad to see they're still out playing fairly recently. Don't stop! Hope they come around LA soon.
Thanks for all the great Starz videos. They take me right back to high school and my early days as a guitarist and dreams of rock n' roll stardom. 30 years later and I'm in a Blues Brothers tribute band. Close enough for me.
I found the album (first-one) in a Record store while looking for something rockin' while Metal was young. Like a zillion years-ago. I've never seen what STARZ looked-like until a week-ago thanks to finding friends who turned me onto UTube.
I too bought their first album, a long, long time ago; I was simply looking for something that looked like it might rock, and, well, I was right! GREAT first album...these guys should have been BIG.
Yes, unfortunately Peter Sweval has passed on...also, many folks do not realize that lead singer Michael Smith is the brother of Rex Smith...you know, "You Take My Breath Away".
Awesome band following them since Starz was realeased only person I know who even heard of them. Get there DVD its great and they still sound awesome.
Didnt the original bass player die? HAve you seen the DVD of Starz: Back in Action first ever DVD from their 2003 reunion tour RANNO has done a lot of music over the years (HELLCATS) and was at the WOODSTOCK festival in 69. Also anyone live in Washington DC? because at the space center, they have a rock music display 20 years ago with STARZ on it, or am I thinking the wrong thing? I swear I saw it. You can play parts of songs, incl. elton john and 5th dimension.
Gimme more Joe X Dube!! This guys were and are great. Thanks for the vids. I've been watching a lot of "propergroupie" clips lately. Great taste in the classics.

Starz were very cool - musically part KISS, part Aerosmith, part Ted Nugent - with just a bit of Sweet and the Bay City Rollers thrown in. Great band. Another band that should have been bigger...
Okay so they were a bit of a poor man's Kiss/Aerosmith (back when they had cred)/Angel but my god those first two albums rocked like a bitch. Thanks for sharing this one too. You've made my day.
Don't miss Starz live on Friday, May 21 at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck, NJ! This is a rare East coast appearance by the band.

i think you mean bill aucoin
jimymac1 5 years ago
Bill Aucoin dropped out of the picture in 1976 due to his massive cocaine problem. Howard Marks managed Kiss from 76-88.
xrew247 5 years ago
The similarities to Kiss is no surprise. Both Kiss and Starz shared the same manager, Howard Marks.
