  • love ya man! Simply the best!!! "hippy" does NOT mean "pacifist!"

  • If I had a dime for every asshole I experienced personally at a concert I would have ... $27.00

  • great rant chris. power to the fucking people.

  • ever notice that the alcohol thing is always the cause at a show?

i have.and let me tell y'all that i never saw someone getting arrested

whether at a club show or a huge arena for smoking trees.i mean if security did that, then they would have to arrest EVERYBODY.they wouldnt do such a thing.

but security should step up tp protect the band and the true fans that showed up for a killer show and just a fun time out for the evening.not to fight.but to rock the fuck out!

  • Damn Chris is THE MAN!!!! WHat a great dude and a great artist!! Speak your mind man, u have it right on the nose!!!! He makes a VERY important point there about weed and booze!! Go get the drunk people!! Leave the stoners alone, they aren't the ones causing problems!! THe drunk people are the ones causing problems!! Chris you rock man!!! VERY VERY WELL SAID!!

  • RIGHT ON CHRIS!!!!!

  • Where was this show? Why so many a-holes in the audience?

  • I like cheese.

  • whining like axel rose......stfu and play

  • Alright guys, I'm not gonna lie, this venue has an exception, Penns Peak is like 100% wood which is why for Railroad Earth they have guys go up in the balcony and snipe people out with flashlights, but, I was still trippin off along with the music, I was there for soundcheck and the venues owner is a deadhead, but, as long as the guy whos puffin isnt a unappreciative and unresponsible asshole, I don't see why its a huge problem anywhere else.

  • Turns out the guy causing all the ruckuss down front.....Jeff Cease.

  • hahahaha

  • lmfao, jeff cease and audley freed. he he he

  • "and the band played on..."

  • It was Jerry Garcia who hired the Hells.

  • Maybe he had good reason to be upset, but still I'd rather not see him acting like that. It just looks ugly. That's not how I would like to remember an exceptionally talented band who makes such beautiful music.

  • ZOINKS! I haven't seen Chris that pissed since he caught Rich raiding his double chocolate Haagen Dazs.

  • Excellent job, Chris! Too bad the band had to take care of things.

Having been to well over 500 concerts I can tell you that 99% of any problem in the crowd involves someone that's had too much to drink, while the people smoking weed never cause any problems. What does that tell ya'?

  • My hero...

  • Smoking weed has nothing to do with maturity. Its not the use its how responsibly one is about there use. There are places and times for everything. Rock concerts hum..If you dont want to be around it might want to steer clear. Alcohol and tobacco are clearly a much bigger problem in America. Luv the crowes andI feel they have always been sensible on the matter but this was about idiots acting like idiots what would you say if this happened at your job. Go Chris!

  • Alcohol and tobacco are a much bigger problem in America then where? Please clarify...

  • Nice Post. I doubt the Crowes will be playing this venue again anytime soon.

  • I agree with Chris. Drunks ruin it for almost everyone, everytime. Spilling beer, vomiting, hitting people by falling over (these were at Metal shows BTW). If you want to drink, stay at home or at a bar, or AT the bar but don't start spilling beer on me and pushing through the crowd b/c I will nail you in the fucking mouth. True story: drunk asshole at DIO show pukes in front of everyone at Irving Plaza 2000-- so everyone else has to skate around in his sick.

  • Where is Penns peak?

  • Jim Thorpe PA...it's a beautiful venue...wooden structure (like a barn) so the sound is fantastic...you can get as close to the stage as you want...(obviously this was filmed stage left)...and go out and smoke (cigs or whatever) on the balcony overlooking a beautiful mountain countryside...it's a GREAT venue to see a show

  • cont'd... Security never noticed, never cared. It was the band security that eventually broke up the action. What kind of venue security is that? Penn's Peak is a fabulous place to see a show. They better get their security act together before someone gets seriously hurt and they get sued. In spite of it all, the show was excellent thanks to the Crowes. They care about their fans. The rant was right on!

  • I was also right in the middle of this incident. The dudes who started this fight were talking about fighting since the opening band. I tried to speak to the least drunk one of them about letting it go because otherwise he'd get booted from the show. He was so drunk that he practically showered me and my guy with beer all evening. Even their girls abandoned these drunken fools who kept showing up with two fists full of beer in spite of their obvious intoxication. THANK YOU CHRIS ROBINSON!

  • Hey hydroa, i think you need to stop worrying about the rest of us smoking pot and run a grammar check.

  • this place is a joke. they hire security for the SOLE purpose of finding the smokers and throwing them out of the show. It's a great venue, but the security does really suck.

  • Plus all the fools on here that say "dont hurt the smokers"...why not think for a second and put the blunt down...its called a venue, which is hosting an event...Pot is ILLEGAL...meaning that if an undercover cop or an inspector was in there and the bouncers weren't doing their job, the venue could be fined a shit load of money...so there covering there asses for all the stoner dumbasses.

  • have fun in Alcoholics Anonymous you hypocritical scumbag

  • how am I hypocritical, Cause I use to smoke, but I grew up, in the real world?

BTW- who said anything about alcohol.

  • I'd rather be standing next to someone who smoked too much pot verse DRANK TOO MUCH.

Drunks that are LOUD and OBNOXIOUS are a pain in the ass. Plus add in the puke factor, especially rookies at R+R shows.

    Keep it GREEN!!

    JUGGALO LIFE 4 EVA!!!

    Whoop Whoop

  • I could really care less about both, its an opinion. But your at a concert, so what drunk person isnt going to be obnoxious, hell i go out of control, its the only place where you can have fun.

  • Not exactly Mick-Jagger-at-Altamont material. This guy is definitely classy, a real role model for our youth. Let's incite the crowd by raving about minimum-wage-security guards! Way to fight back against the system tough guy!

  • no one never said "c-rob" wasnt a weenie!

great fuckn pipes, though, a lot of soul!

    back to the musicz!

  • Uh, wth are you talking about? Mick Jagger was the one who moronically hired The Hell's Angels for security (or merely to sit up on stage, drink beer and act menacingly) @ Altamont and there was no sticking up for the fans as far as I know.

The first guy I ever saw advocate for the fans rights was Kurt Cobain @ Mississippi Nights in St. Louis. He got everybody up on stage in protest of security roughing up people for stage diving. Turned out to be a legendary show.

  • Ya just gotta love the Black Crowes, what video app do you have because that's great quality for a video from a phone and I've been looking for a good video app.

  • Chris has a point. I mean, the venue wants to, and has a right to, make money on alcohol, for sure, and that will never change. But when it comes down to stopping kids smoking pot versus stopping violence from happening in the crowd, security needs to prioritize and stop the fighting from happening, that's it.

  • I'd rather deal with someone high on pot than drunk off their arse, but get f'n real. Penns Peak is an all wood building. If the band REALLY gave a sh.t about their fans, let alone themselves, they wouldn't want anyone smoking in there either. H.ll, their own lighting guy was chain smok'n in the back. A WOOD BUILDING!!! Use you f'n brains boys!

  • Chris Kuroda rules.

  • @hughiv

    Was he in the video?

  • Black Crowes forever!

  • Deep respect for Chris and Black Crowes for saying this!

  • classic Chris

  • 113alaska MUST BE A SECURITY TART! DO YOUR JOBS!!!!!!!!!!LEAVE THE SMOKERS ALONE THEY NEVER CAUSE A PROBLEM!!!

  • i was there that night don't leave booze in there do away with the bar in there and lets legalize marajuna

  • some guys girl got punched there guy,. boycott them, you are a schmuck anyhow

  • no one will boycott the Crowes you idiot.

  • wow!! this guy is awesome. if you are serious, you can look up sevaral rock acts that have done the same thing. I remember motley crue, guns and roses, the stones, pantera, korn, limp biskit, and many more who have come out and went off on the security at their shows. professionalism in rock is called "pop." rockers are rebels, they don't have to be professional.

  • that's a good one. :-) You are right. But on the other hand real professionalism should be taking care of your fans.

  • Voodoofest, New Orleans, 2000: STP went off on security for getting too rough with the crown-surfers that were coming over the gate. Scott stopped in the middle of the song and was all "Motherfucker! I don't come to your fucking party and start roughing people up! I think we need about 200 more bodies up here!" I thought there was gonna be a riot. I love it when performers stick up for the fans.

  • Stuber is outside tossing cookies too much vodka! LOL

  • Where's Stuber ????

  • You can see on Black Crowes videos on Youtube , more videos , a many years ago , when Chis Robinson do the same thing.

He only want to protect the people.

  • the security was sittin on his butt. i understand he didnt want to block anyones view but come on now...he lollygagged his way over...then proceeded to tell us that he could not jump over the rail cuz he would get sued if one of us got injured. what if someone was seriously injured? then that persons family would or that person would sue because he did not respond in a timely manner. i am sorry. we were trying to get him over there and he just sat there. inexcusable!!!

  • Crowsfan37 learn how to spell crowes and go away...

  • aint that the truth sellya alcahol to get ya fuckin up just to throw ya in jail bunch a dumasses

  • i was at a crowes show when someone pitched a water bottle at the band when they came out....Chris had the ass hole removed and told him to buy a t-shirt on the way out! RIGHT ON!

  • Chris is not overy stoned! He's a very, very clever person! He didn't bash his "hosts", he bashed arrogant, violent and drunk people who were there to drink and piss off other fans!! They don't give a damn about the music. He was 100 % right!!

  • crowsfan37-if that is how you feel, then we dont need you at the shows. you have no clue what was goin on. when the ruckus broke out, chris was doing what he had to do to secure the safety of his fans because security was not doing its job. i was right up front and was trying to flag down the security guy to come over. he just sat on his butt. so why do think chris had to stop the show? is pretty bad when the band has to tell the people working the venue that there is a fight.

  • I agree with you Crowesfly. There's no way the band should have to stop the show to do someone else's job. The guard in front of me wasnt very tall and I dont think he was able to see into the crowd. It seemed like it did take a little while for the other guards to get through the people to the center of the pit though. They probably need to position their staff a little better to react faster to things like that. I dont think they get many rock shows there. My first time there.

  • CR telling it straight up once again. THANK YOU CHRIS... sometimes our hippie BC shows need a lil' of that righteous punk rock!! Damn straight... !! See y'all at the FIlmore in Dec. :)

  • LOL. You joined Youtube TODAY with the name "crowesfan37" just to bag on the Crowes? 99% sure YOU are that security a-hole. Go get drunk with your macho pals and f+ck off, loser.

  • Signed up today just to comment on this video post. Correct. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the venue with the exception of this nonsense. I guess you werent there or one of the scumbags that started a fight at a freakin Black Crows show. Typical. I doubt that guard knows how to use a computer.

  • Chris' point, which you totally missed, was that drunk assholes are the ones that start fights. Your inane comment about the "overly stoned singer" demonstrates that you are a f*cktard judgemental loser. Take your daughter to Chuck-E-Cheeses next time and leave the rock n' roll to the BC fans if you can't handle Chris speaking truth to power.

  • Apparently you weren't there or too drunk to undestand what was going on.

Nice vocabulary by the way. Probably does you really well hanging on the back of that garbage truck from 9 to 5pm.

  • i was there up against the rail. craziest shit ive ever seen but still a great show. at the end rich threw out a pick and it landed inbetween the rail and stage and fucking security took it... FUCK SECURITY..smoke weed

  • ...just one demonstration why I have/will always refer to them as 'the boys'! Right. On.

  • To good - go Chris !
