  • Perfection.

  • Gorgeous version! I like Maureen Derry's version, too. Really nice.

  • "...I'm gonna attempt to sing for you now..." As if! Such humility. A supernatural talent...even if she didn't seem to believe it.

  • one of my favourite singers singing oneof my favourite songs....

  • This video should have a million hits

  • This is so beautiful. She has an angelic voice.

  • lovely, lovely version. O'Brien is a County Onclawer surname and Dusty's ancestors cme from there and her ashes were scattered there. The proper pronunciation of O'Brien in the Irish Lingo is O'BREEN. In Welsh, it's Brynn.

  • I can hear this echo off the Celtic hillsides of yore.......Pure Magic.

  • My Lagan Love, quality tune. Didn't realize she recorded this!! Thanks for making my day!!

  • Thanks for posting this. It's gorgeous.

  • This is so beautiful! She was very intelligent and has the voice of an angel!! Irish songs are so beautiful!

  • My favorite Dusty Springfield song! Thank you! :)

  • Isn't West hampstead...English born?

  • @Cythereaswetworld Yes...but her birth name was Mary Catherine Isobel Bernadette O'Brien. That tells you everything you need to know about why she would sing this...and everything the record companies were making her hide at the time(it was VERY uncool to be an Irish person in the UK at this point...even though most of the Beatles actually were in terms of ancestry).

  • Beautiful!! How did I ever miss this?

  • Just SO BEAUTIFUL! - Dusty left us sadly and too early, for sure!

  • Goddess.

  • English ? She was born in Ireland & was Irish. She was not English. Get your facts right.

  • @chee6060 She was born in West Hampstead, North London, actually. Her parents were Irish catholic but she herself was English born.

  • An English Rose with an Irish lilt and a great barrier breaking sound from around the world she sure was heaven blessed and what a party she'll be having with King and prince of rock...

Had she been of this era she would be at the top but with what sounds because as a pioneer she'd be ground breakingly interesting all over again and she is for all those yet to grow up and discover the Mamma of rock roll house new wave rave and soul and dub dub song to ballads and sweet sweet Irish folk...

  • @LukeNGood369 She was actually of Irish descent.

  • My love of her music goes way back when i was a child in the '60s. My dad playing her LPs on a stereo which was truly analog "tube" amplification, that reflected a special "warm sound," especially when her voice and music came through the speakers. The (string) arrangements and compositions of her music is stunning, to say the least.

@jayci68: Hmmm yes! Hear the lovely name and comment you made, regarding Kate Bush. She's my fav of her era. Tough call, regarding who's is better. ;-)

  • I still think Kate Bush made the most beautiful version of this song, but this, by Dusty, comes in at a close 2nd.

  • Beautiful ! Sings and plays the guitar with that special touch, passion chained but harnessed. She is beautiful. She is my lady.

  • Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.

Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.

  • Jacqui McShee did the most breathtaking version of this song iIve ever heard. But I could'nt find it here on youtube. Dusty is still unforgotten.

  • Yo Sj this is 4 u..

  • RIP Dusty- you were part of my formative years and I still miss you!!

  • dusty is our angel

  • Oh my gosh! I had no idea she covered this song. It is my favourite Irish song. I'm so relieved I found this vid. Thanks so much.

  • Lovely rendition. There are four verses to this song though. The gender switch makes the reference to the leannan sidhe ring rather oddly.

  • This is so Beautiful..I love the special effects in this..Dusty looks like she's inside a snowglobe. This song is amazing just like her voice.

Thanks so much for posting this..*)*

  • Hollywood Irish songs. HHHAAAAAAAHHAAHA!!!! Dusty, I was married to you in a previous life for sure! <3

  • lovely Dusty lovely song.

  • Nice - kind of a strange mix of sean nos and an orchestral arrangement. Dusty was into the Irish stuff and has a great voice for it.

  • Well, before her name was "Dusty" it was "Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien"

  • Thank you for posting this video. :-)

This version is one of the best versions of 'My Lagan Love' that I've heard. Dusty at her best!

    Thank you again :-)

  • This song is getting me through a very turbulent flight! Thanks for posting it!

  • Touching. Exquisite. What a talent, what a talent. Love you, Dusty.

  • This is beautiful. Dusty is lovely as always.

  • exquisito! <3 i'm in love

  • @JSG1951 no

seek BBC Dusty Live Show DVD on amazon instead.

  • I didn't know she played guitar, I now love her even more!!

  • Mary O'Brien, good Irish Catholic girl. Half in the Irish life, half in the Dusty Springfield life

  • So beautiful..

  • Beautifully sung with beautiful music.

  • Paddy McGinty`s Goat! What a song! Dusty is dead right. Her version of Lagan Love is great. Don`t know why she has a guitar when the tune is played on harp?

  • woo donegal!!

  • A superb interpretation.

  • Compelling - love Dusty's eclectic taste!

  • Aaahhh, this is the best.*****

  • love you Dusty

  • Sweet Dusty. Who knew! Rest in Peace.

  • Fair point, a wee bit refined for me but nice to see her taking a stab at it.

  • Well, this was back in 1966 or 1967. I'm sure that there were people knowledgeable of Celtic music then too, but so-called "world music" was perhaps not so popular with the masses as it has become in, say, the last twenty years or so. I think that her comment was directed at the larger mass of viewers who probably didn't know many true Celtic tunes.

Actually, I like "The Peeler and the Goat"... not the same song of course.

  • Beautiful woman, beautiful voice. Ethereal.

  • Simple yet wonderful. She's the real thing.

  • Absolutely right!

  • @babaloula Definitely! A voice made of cristal!

  • I agree- a beautiful rendition, though I still favor Charlotte Church's version. Breathtaking!

  • Everyone gave you a thumbs down but I highly agree with you. Charlotte Church's gives you chills.

  • OMG Amazing!

  • Sheer class!!!

  • Have to agree that Dusty's version is the nearest to the original-it needs no elaboration-just lovely!

  • Another great artist born in the UK of Irish decent! The list is endless! McCartney, Lennon, Lydon, Gallagher brothers, Morrisey, Elvis Costello, Boy George.....

  • Is that a harp in the background? Lovely rendition.

  • Dusty's the best! I love this!

  • Damn! That is good.

  • I love her!!!

  • I first heard this song when I was a little kid, and I love, love, love it! Thanks for sharing.
