Isaac Hayes couldn't done a better version of timeless classic full orchestra outstanding piece of art not music. Real music/art done--- that is great as gold.
before thug culture took over, we were such a prideful and creative people. Wish I was born during the era when a man could slow dance with his lady to this at one of those blue light parties the old school people talk about lol
Ike knew how to talk that smooth deep loving rap to perfection with the woman & I loved him for it. He put into words how a man can & does feel about his woman! We'll Miss You GREATLY!
Oh baby, I remember this some from the Black Moses album! Isaac knew how to lay down some smooth rap. Not like these crude rappers today. I was talking to this young girl last week and we were talking about how different music is from my day. I told her at least women from my generation can sing these songs to their husband when they get 90. I said imagine when your generations gets 90 and try and sing to your husband talking about suck it, suck it, lick it, stick it, beyatch, suck it, suck
Nobody raps like this brother! Nobody.. Barry had the deeper baratone voice, but Ike had the best rap in the world and nobody came close in concert. I saw him at the APPOLLO in 1971 and he rocked every woman in the house.. I have never before or since seen an artist have such an effect on thousands of females at one time.. Remeber Ike made Barry. If you disagree then bring it...
This song is unfair, as no chicks can resist it's obvious sexy appeal. Issac Hayes was a men among men. I like Zeppelin and bands like that too, but Robert Plant sounds like a chick. I like deep voices. I sing bass/baritone myself. Perhaps I should learn songs in this genre.
Everytime I hear this song I think about the pimps and players of the 70's area! Not the exploitation of women part but how smooth they were and how tight their games were. From their clothes and hair to their cars and crubs! It was an amazing period in time and this song just radiates that 70's smooth groove where men dressed and put it all on display. This song just feels like that! RIP Mr. Hayes you are truly missed!
Cold blooded composition. Strong music compsition. I got this 8 track(lol) when I was 13...when I listen to the music now ....it immediately outlclass any music that came out after this. Including Prince,Michael Jackson,Earth Wind and Fire and most definitely the BS that's played today. Isaac Hayes was a genious.
Romantic to the extreme, Ike's rap and the sensual musical accompaniment defines why Isaac Hayes was an illustrious musician and why he remains an iconic legend.
@Blackorpheus68 There is more out there thats as good as this but you have to search for it Roy Ares, War, Grover Washington J.R., Hubert Laws, Michael Franks and Bjork just to name a few. Alot of this stuff is from the LATE 1960's to the EARLY 1980's and theirs some sprinkled here and there from the past 20 years. The music has been spit into genders now. So depending on age range you can track a different sound and it will lead you to a gender you never knew existed.
@lollypopsugar, Haha, you funny. I do realize that this is not rap "music" but please allow me to explain since I can assume you are too young to know what I'm talking about. Back in the day (60's and 70's) the term "rap" was used to indicate a conversation with someone, especially with a lady. In public you could often hear someone say, "Can I rap to you for a minute"? or "Let me rap to ya". The talking you hear Isaac Hayes doing in his songs was referred to as "rapping". Thats what i meant...
@lollypopsugar, Rap music may be an entity within itself, but "rapping" has been around for a long time. Its old school, your generation just added its own twist to it. Thats all.......peace
Wow!!! Seems as tho' we have a number of youtube listeners that are familiar with the world of "stalking. I suppose one could also say this may be a "possessive" kind of love
Back when this came out, nobody gave a thought to any "stalking" aspect in this song. Just goes to show you how hyper-sensitive and paranoid our society has become.
omg, is any one listening to the lyrics???? this is a classic stalker song. the police should've been waiting for him as soon as he finished recording. this song is creepy!!!!!
@mudfondler I know!!! I did not know that he originally recorded this song. You described this song to a tee...this is a complicated arrangement. Tell me who could do it like this today, and I will buy it. In the meantime, I am going to add this cd to my Isaac Hayes collection. I have got to have this song!!!! RIP!!! You are truly missed!!!
Sampling it is not a new phenomenon. Think Sugar Hill Gang - Rappers Delight sample from Chic - Good Times. People critiqing now go back over 30 years.
I believe if the younger generation really knew how to write and create music with the use of real instruments to produce their own original sound they wouldnt have to "sample" as much as they do today. Alot of what we hear today are so-called "samples" from old school. Someone said that the inability to play real mechanical instruments to create original sound is killing what was once great black music. Its all sampling, editting, copying and "beats" now. What a shame......peace and a long life
anytime you here good good music like this, u can guarantee somebody sampled it already. Good music is meant to live on forever. We may not like the way its represented in the remix, but either way it brings us back to the original for us to enjoy.
Thanks rovingeye2 for sharing. I was waiting and hoping that someone would put this song back on UTUBE. This is my favorite song by Isaac Hayes. RIP Isaac, your legacy will live forever !
