I favorited this video five years ago. It's still a powerful video. I'm a Texan who loves the Canadiens (and Canadians), but the Oilers are my favorite team in western Canada. Followed that playoff run from the beginning and was crushed to see the 'Canes win, although I remember Markkanen playing out of this world after Roloson's injury.

I live in Arizona and remember missing most of the NHL playoffs and i think i caught on like the 3rd game where they were in Edmonton and the crowd was going absolute crazy like i have never seen a hockey crowd before during the national anthem and i could feel the emotion of everyone in the building and the players you could just feel and see it. But for a team that had made a 7 game final series a reality after being down 0-2 and 1-3, for a team playing in the loudest stadium in the NHL, for a team that won five Stanley Cup championships in seven finals in the 27 years of the teams existance does not suck at all! As a diehard Islanders fans for nearly 30 years, I obviously dislike the Oilers, but this was an excellent video. Your first attempt was excellent Chewman, the Oilers showed what this new CBA can bring for smaller market teams. The Oilers were the poster team for grit, youth and determination. Congrats! On a side note, I said it the day it happened, that it was a HUGE mistake in trading away Raffi Torres.
I'm not even an Oilers fan and I'll have to admit thats one hell of a video. Even seeing Roloson going down was terrible, but losing key players in the off season hurts the team more I guess. I feel so sorry for you guys cause to see your team make it that far and how much passion there was in the city, then having the team torn apart for next season....oh man.

1. That Oiler's comeback was a fluke (actually the whole playoff run was a fluke)
2. The rexall place might have been loud but hey man! Its Stanley Cup Finals, The Saddledome was WAAAYYY louder. Plus the rexall place is on total wel fare
3. The 5 cups the oilers won have nothing to do with the modern oilers because none of the oilers playing now, played back then.

Goflamesgo123, your very disrespectful! I respect the flames but not the fans, and for those Calgarians who did root for us or at least credited our performance we appreciate that. But for a team that had made a 7 game final series a reality after being down 0-2 and 1-3, for a team playing in the loudest stadium in the NHL, for a team that won five Stanley Cup championships in seven finals in the 27 years of the teams existance does not suck at all! Period! Thank You Oilers for the memories.

As a diehard Islanders fans for nearly 30 years, I obviously dislike the Oilers, but this was an excellent video. Your first attempt was excellent Chewman, the Oilers showed what this new CBA can bring for smaller market teams. The Oilers were the poster team for grit, youth and determination. Congrats! On a side note, I said it the day it happened, that it was a HUGE mistake in trading away Raffi Torres.

I'm not even an Oilers fan and I'll have to admit thats one hell of a video. Even seeing Roloson going down was terrible, but losing key players in the off season hurts the team more I guess. I feel so sorry for you guys cause to see your team make it that far and how much passion there was in the city, then having the team torn apart for next season....oh man.

Weight, Guerin, and Comrie were three of the Oilers best players that were traded under the old-CBA due to money issues. I think that's what Chewmen was getting at.

Actually, money played a part. He and his agent used a loophole on his rookie contract to get around $9 million through ridiculous bonuses. They tried again, and used the media as leverage. It backfired. I wouldn't say he was run out of town. He paved the way for his exit.
