i think Kurt Russell is probably the biggest Elvis fan on the planet!! Well defiantly in the top 5 ! :P he is a great actor. Elvis would be so proud of him they knew each other because they were both in the movie 'it happened at the Worlds fair' and he kicked Elvis haha and from then on i think he idolized him for the rest of his life <3

most of the movies that have actors portraying elvis are barely watchable, but this one was amazing. this is one that every elvis fan must see. john carpenter directed it, and kurt russell took on the part and he nailed it. this just recently came out on dvd and is completely uncut. a must have for any collection.

@tcbtheking01 kurt russell also did elvis' voice in forrest gump, when forrest teaches elvis how to dance. he does that voice very well so he was a good choice, even if it was just a short scene.

I think if this had been a theatrical release instead of a tv movie, Kurt would have at least been nominated for an Oscar as Best Actor and probably would have won. He is very good in this movie.

i remember when it seemed like they showed this every year on Elvis' birthday or the anniversary of his death, and then they just quit showing it... so glad to finally have it on DVD! i'm not a Kurt Russell fan, but he did a great job on this one, IMO!

It was an ABC TV MOVIE from 1979 directed by John Carpenter (Halloween) who would go on to direct Kurt in Escape From New York, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China and Escape from LA.

Ronnie McDowell did the singing on this movie and the Elvis and Me TV movies.

The movie is a little off, I mean it took till the 3rd performance on ED Sullivian to only show him from the waiste up.

He did sing 'OL Shep for a talent show but it was when he was a kid not in High School.

His first comeback in Vegas in '69 "Burnning Love hadn't been recorded yet he wore black not white, then his 2nd tour on Vegas he wore white which is covered in That's the way it is n 1970

I own a copy of the video and can tell you it is the best Elvis bio movie to date. Kurt Russel was amazing!!! There is a scene of a jam session of "Suspicious Minds" in his living room where you actually think it is Elvis! Just Awsome... I'll try to download and post it tomorrow...
