As far as direction, camera work and graphics are concerned, Halo Wars has some of the best cinematics I've ever seen. It's a shame that the choppy and unfamiliar gameplay (considering Halo is an FPS franchise) undermines the potential this game had. The "5 Long Years" trailer was amazing, it's just a shame that the work they did on the trailers and cinematics is completely forgotten because Halo Wars is below average at best. Then again, to each's own.

If you want some good rts games go play the total war series (which is also partly a turn based game ) dawn of war 1, company of heros, command and conquer . But this was most defiantly not a great rts. 2 races (FLOOD ANYONE) ? crappy expansion options, shit unit variety etc.

What I meant to say was that people don't accept Halo Wars as a Halo game (product wise not story wise) because it is a different genre and yet people still accept Super Mario Kart, Super Mario RPG as Mario games even if in basis Mario is a platformer. I will agree though, Mario games and storylines are antonyms.

i hate to sound like a nerd here, but i'm pretty sure the pillar of autumn mentioned at 2:41 was made a long time after this is set. then again the whole halo wars game contradicts humans encountering flood / forerunner technology compared to the original series

@Devilams The Autumn was in service during this time, it is repaired and rebuilt just before halo one. The Autumn was built in 2509 so by the time keyes gets ahold of her the ship is over 40 years old. As for the flood remember that it technically contradicts no existing canon, the spirit of fire never returned to UNSC space to report the flood ergo it is was never recorded and we thought that halo one was our first encounter.

They're Spartan-IIs in mark IV armor. This takes place before Reach and the Original Halo. By the time of Reach Class I of Spartan-IIs all got Mark Vs and by the time of Halo 2 the remaining Spartan-IIs got a slight upgrade to their Mark V armors.

Actually, by this moment, Chief isn't a Child in the beginning of the Spartan Training. He's already the leader of the Spartans and has a field record longer then most season veterans. This is also before Cortana and the Mark V armors.
Yes. Master Chief received the first (and only) Mark VI off the line right after Maria-062 finished testing it right before Halo 2. The other Spartans weren't outfitted with that, but instead received upgrades to their Mark V back on Reach and when they returned home. They would've received Mark VI eventually if the Covenant hadn't hit Earth and forced Earth to redirect their attentions in defending themselves from annihilation.

Halo wars the best of the Halos and Reach being the best of the shooters???? Reach is good but it is nothing compared to the magic that halo one and 2 were and the awesomeness that was the multiplayer experience of Halo 3...You need to seriously reassess your life...I recommend therapy.

it's just unfortunate that the spartans never have a chance to face arbiter, he's such a bitch. everytime the spartans come around he either flees or just lets himself get killed by forge so that he won't have to be humiliated by the 3 spartans waiting to rip his skull out of his head to put on their trophy cabinet.

Not to be a dick, but "best graphics i've ever seen" is an idiot statement. This is all cinematic pre-rendered CG cutscenes. The game itself isn't very good for today's standards and it is only a year old.
Non the less, it did something no one else has ever done: make a pretty good RTS on console. Controls work on it perfectly.

They're Spartan-IIs in mark IV armor. This takes place before Reach and the Original Halo. By the time of Reach Class I of Spartan-IIs all got Mark Vs and by the time of Halo 2 the remaining Spartan-IIs got a slight upgrade to their Mark V armors.

Actually, by this moment, Chief isn't a Child in the beginning of the Spartan Training. He's already the leader of the Spartans and has a field record longer then most season veterans. This is also before Cortana and the Mark V armors.

Yes. Master Chief received the first (and only) Mark VI off the line right after Maria-062 finished testing it right before Halo 2. The other Spartans weren't outfitted with that, but instead received upgrades to their Mark V back on Reach and when they returned home. They would've received Mark VI eventually if the Covenant hadn't hit Earth and forced Earth to redirect their attentions in defending themselves from annihilation.
