Actually, I got the original M squad dvd at our local library, kind of into old tv shows I've never seen, and knew right away after hearing the title theme and saw the plot to M Squad, Not to mention the Lee Marvin charactor was named Frank, and started laughing my head off at what was suppose to be a serious show, because I knew right away where the creators Police Squad got their show idea. That's the facts and only the facts as Jack Webb would say. Well, I think that's the facts.
I thought Police Squad! was about "the Streets of San Francisco" xD
Obviously it was because of the colours and of Alan North's likeness to Karl Malden and, of course, because the ZAZ made a very archetypal parody: we can recognize the cliches of any vintage cop drama in their six little episodes.
So if they achieved on the same time to spoof so closely specific episodes of one TV-show, their work is even clever than I thought
Its kind of funny that Lee Marvin is driving over the line talking up two lanes ; )

The original should have come first. It's funnier that way.

@icouldsayitthrice This was the only episode that was exactly the same, but both shows have the same theme music.

I alway thought that Police Squad was a spoof of Quinn Martin productions, until I saw M Squad.

I thought the M Squad line of "He'd cut up his own mother" was funnier then the Police Squad line of "He'd beat up his own mother".
