  • I LOVE THIS song and the album "Fun,Faith and Fairplay"!

  • One of the first CD singles I ever bought as I made the transition from vinyl/cassettes to CD. Still got it! Brings back lovely memories of being 16 :)

  • Funny how many people came across this band by accident. Between my friends and I there weren't many 80s bands that at least one of us hadn't heard of. This was one of them. I knew by the cassette cover artwork that it was 80s pop and you almost cant lose so I bought it. I think it was $2 at the discount clearance store. I always wondered where they had been originally. It wasn't any music store around here.

  • Simon, thank you so much for posting these videos! I've loved Fun Faith and Fairplay for years - it's a treasured favorite album of mine actually - and never knew there were vids for some of the songs until today. Ah, the memories!!!

  • One of my favourite songs, i still have the original 12" and worked out the chords and still sing and play this myself on guitar. If you do come back in the UK It would be great to hear Shooting from my heart live

  • Long time ago I bought this album on cassette for almost nothing and I forgot how good this song was... Thankfully I had a flash about that group, and youtube did the rest! ;)

  • Thanks for sharing as well. I didn't know they had all these videos!! Got the CD on a lark and loved it all - but they never really got popular. And no one had ever heard of them. Glad to see so many fans!

  • comeback is imminent - see dr-scardo.tv for details.

  • @simonearly - well not exactly! It's true though that the new band will be performing some of the best of Big Bam Boo - and very exciting those songs sound too - Wicked Love in particular is guaranteed to lift the roof - watch that space!

  • this song stroke me when i saw it on MTV in 1989 and made me run to buy the LP. if someone would have told me that 21 years later i was going to watch it side by side with my daughter i would have called him nuts!

But this is life and this is a great song!

  • still love this album, got it on my ipod for all the long drives!

  • WOW WOW, I was at Rutgers in early 90s when i got the CD free somehow and i loved loved loved this song! tragically i sold the CD b/c typical college student me needed fast cash and i've regretted it. how fab to find it on youtube, what a godsend. time for a comeback Simon

  • @fuzzysaunt great to hear from you! Thanks for posting and glad you like the music. Always a few CDs available from my website - though you'd probably find them cheaper on Ebay or Amazon! Cheers

  • OMG! I love, love, love this song. It's still one of my all time favourites. Thanks so much for posting it. I still have my original copy of the single (vinyl of course!) complete with the set of postcards that came with it.

  • Hi Simon. Would love a copy of the new album is the offer still stands! Thanks.

  • Simon: A million years ago, my buddy Richard and I used to wear old suits and pompadours. Folks would ask us if we were in a band. After a while, we started lying, saying, "Yes, we're the Odells." When we saw/heard this song, we said, "Hey, that's what the Odells sound/look like." Thanks for being a part of my musical history.

  • @kenmottet - Hey thanks for the comment!

It's great to hear stories like that. I remember once we did a gig in (Newcastle maybe? Or the University of East Anglia....) and seeing two guys dressed like us standing at the bar, one wore glasses etc - Shark and I were very flattered - brings a smile to my face thinking about it! If you'd like a copy of my most recent album then e mail me your address and I'll mail you a copy for free - that goes for anyone one else who's commented here.

  • One of my absolute All-Time-Favourites.

    Thx for that

  • Great song!

  • a 1 hit wonder....i still wonder why

  • Absolut geiles Lied

    Danke fürs hochladen

  • Can anyone help me find the complete lyrics? I've scoured the net to no avail.

  • ".....WONDER IF THE SHIPS IN THE NIGHT KNOW WHERE THEY'RE GOING - NEVER KNOWING WHERE THEY BELONG.......!" Absolutley love this song.....

  • Great choon ! 1st time I heard this was on the late but great Roger Scott's radio 1 Saturday afternoon show, back in 88 or 89 I guess. It deserved to become a big hit.

    Thanks for posting.

  • scadborough, check out ebay for a copy of the CD... that's where I got mine after many years of searching music stores, etc. I hope this helps! :o)

  • Loved this song the 1st time I saw it. Had a hard time buying it back then. I have it on vinyl from 1989. 30.5 centimeter 45rpm. Still sounds great.

  • Thanks for posting this!!! The only time I ever saw it was late at night --both times around

2 or 3 in the morning. It's that good though that I remember. I bought the cassette single and fell in love with the b-side as well.

Nigel Dick did a first rate job featuring all the band members!! Thank you!!!!! It's one of those perfect songs with a perfect video...a nice circle of artists!!

  • Thank you for this wonderful song and putting it on youtube! It's been almost 20 years since I last heard it and oh.. the memories it brings back! Now that I'm older and am able to reflect back, I'm reminded of a certain quote: "Life is what happens to you while you are trying to go somewhere.." Enjoy the journey and thanks again!

  • I remember when Shooting From My Heart came out on MTV(when they still played music). I remember the first time I heard the song and saw the video. They (MTV) were playing it late night! I'm glad I was awake! I love this song from the first hear. I started staying up later so I could see and hear it again, because just like radio stations MTV had a format as well. I like the idea of you re-recording this song. I would love the chance to do backing vocals on this! haha Thank you for posting!

  • Thanks for your support - it'll be twenty years ago in March 09 since Shooting From My Heart was released in the USA - I'm thinking of re-recording it for an 20th Anniversary Edition - and putting it on my next album.....shall I shan't I....? Hmmm....

  • ...man that song expresses all..we thank the gods for your talent...Peace!

  • ONe of my rarest collection cd was "Fun,Faith & Fairplay. Thanks to You Mr.Simon Scardinelli,You're my idol & Handsome too.-OLan

  • Got this on a promo Music Week CD from 1988 and love this song. Hasn't aged. First time ive seen the video. Thanks for posting it :)

  • I remember buying their CD (at a dollar store) in the early 90s and it's still one of my favorite to play while driving.

  • I can't believe this is on here. I have searched for a replacement for the cassette tape I had of this. Awesome!

  • la4132, go to ebay and look for it! I found the cd there a few months ago! I was estatic! I had been looking for this for years and it finally occured to try ebay!

  • Please pardon my spelling..LOL It's been a long week! haha

  • Saw them a few times support Voice of the Beehive, one of the better support groups. Everytime I saw them they broke guitar strings, only band that I saw do that and probably on 3 or 4 occasions.

  • ha ha ha yes thats what i remember about them snapping guitar strings every gig, seen them on the then jerico tour 1989, they are amazing, did think it was shooting up my ar**

when i first heared on the tony snell show.

  • I loved Big Bam Boo - I remember seeing them at the St Enoch shopping centre in Glasgow. VASTLY underrated band in my opinion! Also saw them supporting various bands too - now where is the t shirt?????

  • I loved this song at the age of 10 and I love him today,i didn`t hear it for a long time but it was always in my brain and now I`ve found it here.

  • did they support Then Jerico this year?

  • Not likely - Big Bam Boo haven't played together since 1991.....

  • No No No, I meant in 1989!! - sorry Simon - I've now just seen If You Could See Me Now - and someone has confirmed I was right - you were a great band, I still have the vinyl version of your Fun, Faith and Fairplay LP somewhere, I must get it on CD. Happy Christmas to you x

  • Ah yes - 1989, that we did! Great tour that, lot of fun....thanks for the compliments and Happy Christmas to you too!

  • brilliant brilliant brilliant, how many times do you end up playing this, never just once has to be 100s of times over and over....

never understood why every time i seen them they snapped so many strings.. amazing live

  • how can i look to the future when i keep thinking of the past ? great to look back at 80s sounds

  • Great guitar sound and dual vocals! One of my favorite songs!

  • That electric guitar was actually a battered old red Hofner, great sound though! Sadly I had to sell in whilst living in New York - MCA Records left us high and dry with no money in 1991!

  • out of interest. What model Hofner was it?

  • Still the guitar sound you achieved is phenomenal. Great technique. Kirk Neuman of BoDeans incorporates those tones too. Also: for a 1989 video, "Shooting" is very well shot.

  • What a great song
