He is a guardsman from a Typhon or Aurelia guard regiment or even part of the PDF.

Each world (and there are millions) must raise regiments for the imperial guard. Catachan, cadian, deathkorps and such are just a tiny part (something like 0,0001%) of the Imperial guard.

The gaurd in the origanal table top game are WAY under powered. 1 squad of Necron wraiths can take out a maxed out gaurdsman squad easy. In the game they should have lessend the strength of the Tyranids and added more power to the Gaurd.

gaurd and space marines both have a purpose. the gaurd have the numbers and resorces to win a war on a larg scale. but marines have the training and percision to cut off the enamies head before a war breaks out. sorry to burst your bubble dude, but the importance of the Guard far outweighs the Marines, if you took away the Marines the Empire would hold, but take away the Guard and it would crumble real fast. The Marines are the best, no doubt, but if you gave the guardsmen power armour and gene treatments they would be too. in the end its all about the dirty Imperial credit, and how to spend it on what, or whom.

Anyway its better than the xeno bastards running the show, or chaos, Mwuhahahaha
