  • Hey bud! I started training for strongman at 185 lbs in Feb. of 2007. With hard training and eating whatever i could and as much as i could, i now weigh 220 and it's with no steroids. Cool. Keep training hard but maybe with a little less weight and more reps to pound in the technique into your head. It also helps you to get wickedly strong over a longer period of time. Also try and find others to train with. Good luck...your definately strong.

  • Damn. You put on 35lbs in ~9 months? I made some pretty good bodyweight gains too, just not as quickly. I went from 125lbs in 2003 to 175lbs in 2007, after doing a combination of powerlifting and strongman.

  • good shit way to finish that lift off

  • Thanks, bro.

  • ok

in that case continue working on your leg drive an you should do well

  • do not know much about the technique but think it might be easier to deadlift to lap position, then do what you did.

question: for your upcoming strongman contest is a a 1-RM event or are they gonna make you do a set weight (depending on class) for reps? also do they let you push press it (assuming its a log clean and press).

    thanks

  • No, I'm doing the log clean the way it should be done.

The log for the show that I'm probably doing is going to be 175lbs for reps, not a 1RM event. Yes, you can do strict press, push press, power jerk, or split jerk. It doesn't matter which technique you use, as long as it's locked out overhead.
