  • Do you clip you ends? This is my 1st yr natural and I've been advised to clip, what are your thoughts.

  • @Mrstrayluvv Yes, I do chop (not clip) my ends twice a year; November and June of each year.

  • @Apriluv7779 thx, I'll go visit my Urbanbella.

  • @Apriluv7779 What's the difference between clipping and chopping?

is it the method or the length or the phrasing? I mean, doesn't chop mean to cut with a single blade?

  • @Apriluv7779 There there! The hair grows approximately six inches within a year. Twice a year, I cut at least 1.5 inches; a total of three inches to keep my ends healthy. I use a sharp pair of scissors I only use for cutting/clipping my hair. I clip my hair while in twists unless I doing a layered hair cut. I hope this helps.

  • ????Shadding is a natural prosses of the hair. A purse pushes out the hair strand from the root and then another one grows in it's place.

  • So happy to have found this! I have these products from when I was relaxed but wasn't sure I could still use this with my natural hair. Will be doing the treatment this wkend b/c I seem to have a lil too much shedding than I like to see

  • I'm so glad I found this, because my hair has been shedding for about 2 months now, and it finally dawned on me that I probably need a freaking PROTEIN TREATMENT!! Usually I visit my aunt's shop about 2 or 3 times a year and she does it for me, but I haven't been in a really long time. My hair is a lot like your's just a little bit shorter.

    Thanks for the advice lady!

  • Wow if my hair ball was like that one I would feel great right now......Mine must have been 10 of those or more after taking out a sew in a few days ago ;-(

  • great video, thanks for the video response!

  • sorry i meant to say is it ok or safe to use the protein treatment even though it says for professionals only?

  • is u

  • Are you sure that's not just shedding?

  • Yes. I encourage you to purchase the protein treatment and the balancing moisturizer. Be certain to using the balancing conditioner immediately after the protein treatment.

  • I just found your videos, and I love them. I went to buy the protein today & it says to be used by a professional only.....is this okay? Should I buy the protein treatment & the moisture reconstructor for immediately after? I know you showed the bottles, but I want to make sure. THANK YOU!!

  • How often do you do protein treatments?

  • @naturalhair77 Once a month :). I need to be more consistant LOL!

  • Hi April, thank you for sharing this , i was looking for something that will help my hair been that i am a new to my natural hair in still learning things new about how to take care of it the right way , i am going to keep this in mind when i go to buy products for my hair , GOD bless you in your love ones :)

  • THANK YOU!

  • Thanks! On the way to sallys

  • thanks for the info

    your hair is beautiful

  • @ImJustCommenting Thank you! :)

  • Hi April---I thank God for discovering you...My hair sheds a lot and at one time it was much thicker than it is now but I never knew how impt protein was so over the years my thickness is no more (well not the way I like it anyway) I went to Sallys ysterday and purchased the products from Aphogee so I'll be trying this shortly----You're beautiful and I love your calm personality---THanks for sharing your wisdom, knowledge and techniques (and the healthy eating tips).....

  • @naturalTJE You are sooo welcome. Thank you for continuing to inspire me. Blessings to You.

  • how did you get your hair like that, hair style and all. i have long hair and would like it to be shriveled up curly like yours...did u twist it?

  • @lifewithmonique thank you for the compliment. I did a twist-out. To make my curls have that "Pop Life" i clarify, give my a protein treatment then deep condition :).

  • I have naturally curly hair however, it seems to be losing curl. I have only had a relaxer once when i was 16 i am 21 now. How can i get my curl back?

  • @Yasmeen320 Has all of your relaxer grown out? Have you been using high heat on your hair? There are many factors what contribute to loss of curl; or loss/reduction of your natural curl pattern. You will have to allow your hair to grow out without relaxing/tex laxing or heat in order to se 100% of your natural curl pattern.

  • I like Nexxus Emergencee

  • I have a question I have been going natural for 6monhs almost and i am having breakage where did you get the condtioner wash from ? and was it the actual name of the product. if i dont comb it then what shall i do too it? HELP please I am a newbe

  • @TheToriOreos Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor. Be sure to use the balancing conditioner after doing the 2 minute treatment.

  • @Apriluv7779

thanks so much also if i should not comb or brush my hair what shall i do ?

  • @TheToriOreos Finger comb :) Use your hands to smooth the edges with a little water and gel, then tie with a satin scarf.

  • do you recommend washing natural hair everyday or conditioning, ive become so obsessed with seeing my curls that i tend to do that all the time

  • @janellle579 If my hair is feeling dry, then I know it needs moisture. sometimes, I will do a condition wash, and then there are times, I just rinse my hair with water and apply a leave in conditioner and seal with olive oil :)

  • Thank you for this video, I have noticed that my hair is shedding a lot and my hair has never to my knowledge shed like this. I will be going to buy the aphogee protein treatment:) Thanks again and God Bless.

  • It's fabulous how the Aphogee line stops that breakage. As a natural, I had focused so much on moisturizing my "newly" dry hair, that I forgot that my hair IS protein. Aphogee is my old faithful. Nice video.

  • i bought the 2 min reconstructor and i am confused on how to use it. am i supposed to wash my hair, condition, and then do the reconstructor and then rinse out?

  • Hi Apriluv7779,

I came across a few of your videos and they have been very helpful. I was curious if you've ever tried any products by Kinky-Curly or even products by Hair Rules? I have been trying to take care of my natural hair and I am failing. I believe a lot has to do with the products that I am using or shall I say not using. What are your thoughts on these products if you have ever had any experience with them?

  • @61savedbygrace Please forgive me for not getting back with you sooner. Being "natural" is truly a process! I find the way to treat our hair is more important than what we use in our hair. However, you do need to remember: hair needs moisture and protein. Additionally, cleanse and deep condition should be part of your regimen. I cleanse and deep condition weekly. I hope you have having better luck. It takes some experimenting to find what works for you.

  • Aphogee I just adore.

  • Thanks for showing the amount of hair you lost. This is happening to me every time I detangle. I have been so caught up in using natural products but after reviewing the ingredients, realized that the ones I am using do not have any protein. I am using aubrey conditioner without protein and kinky curly shampoo, which my hair does not like (makes it squeaky clean). I convinced myself that the amount of hair loss I was having every time I washed was normal, but now I see that it is not.

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing this. I went out this past weekend and purchased the Aphogee 2min. Reconstructor product that you mentioned in this vid & I'm hopeful that it curbs that shedding that I'm noticing. A lil' too much hair combing out in the (shower) comb for me, even after my weekly deep conditioner treatments. It's more shedding than breaking for me so I'm hopeful that this will work. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge! :-)

  • You are so right. I just love to watch people who have done their research about hair care. Isn't it so empowering when you learn how to take care of your hair properly? I get so excited when everything that I have learned actually works for me.

  • I love that treatment. It stops breakage immediately for me too. It is a staple product for me.

  • Good information!!!

  • Great Video.... I do the same thing!

  • really good info in this video. was wondering, do you rinse after every gym session? i also go to the gym frequently and have always wondered about how to care for my natural hair after the gym.

I gym 5 days a week and just co-wash 2 out of the five days and rinse the rest.

  • CONDITION WASH AFTER EACH WORKOUT.

  • Once every six weeks. Once the protein treatment is applied, my hair stops breaking. However, overtime, hair looses protein and becomes weak. I notice more hair in my comb (shower comb) over time.

  • you hair is beautiful I am so jealous my natural hair wont grow long at all.

  • Great Video! Thank you for sharing!
