  • @jarvasm Sounds like you have some personal issues to work out. I don't think music was meant to discriminate between what color person was doing what. Music is for everyone, in all cultures. The only one who's being ignorant here is yourself, and I mean that in the most polite way possible. Check your hate at the door next time you comment. Thanks.

  • blacks invented jazz, blues, funk, took over pop, rap, doo wop and rand b you dumb ignorant whites. google rock and roll and see the cornerstone s(jazz,r and b, rap, etc) are deep in the black community. google it or do research before yal start taking blacks credit. hate yall fuckin crackers!! thieves!!!!

  • YOU DON'T LIKE MUSIC IF YOU DON'T LIKE MR. HOWLIN'!!!!!!

  • UN GRANDE HOWLIN' WOLF MASTER OF BLUES !!!

  • Epic cut by the Wolf.

As for "Susie Q", I'm not sure what Fogerty was listening to, but CCR's version was a cover of Dale Hawkins from 1957.

  • @TubeGunner Theres a porn star by the name of Susie Q also. Shes big deal in he adult film industry.

  • @redtsar1990 LOL I'm not surprised.

  • the vocals are so hardcore. they could grab any metal vocals by the nuts and swing them around.

  • @rockabilly88 I dont think Howlin Wolfs surroundings were predominantly White. You got to be crazy they were hanging -""lynching-'''' my brothers back then, White People had nothing to do with the blues. This music was created in Ku Klux Klan Territory So White's didnt influence Blues at all They hated Black People. Why is it called the Blues Because of the treatment Black People Met during the Share Cropping Days.

  • most definately the lead lick that was used in suzie q

  • He was the first band leader to offer unemployment insurance for his band when they weren't giging.

  • Robert Johnson is "worthy of mention"!?!?!?! Go have a cup of tea and eat a crumpet, ass-hat.

  • @MCPetruk Calm down. Rosengarten was just trying to be helpful to people who may be new to this genre of music. It's not an attempt to defame Robert Johnson. Zoloft is a hell of a drug, helps take the edge off, know what I mean?

  • If you are just discovering Howlin' Wolf, you might also want to check out John Lee Hooker and Willie Dixon. Another Delta Blues pioneer worthy of mention also is Robert Johnson.

  • @Rosengarten1951 Don't forget Big Mama Thornton and Matt "Guitar" Murphy.

  • for feal johnny cash'es people was offerd money from perephion "H" , and they refused, so like motown and burgar king , it can be done

  • Hate Scrolling down to try and find a comment about Viagra to understand the meaning of the top rated comments....

  • @DrGolfJam Its because the stupid corporate powers that be, sampled this bad ass classic for a stupid viagra commercial and it angered a lot of people.

  • Replay ...Replay .Damn Good Stuff..Thanks

  • I came here because I like Howlin Wolf.

  • @VisionaryofMirage O I see. Anything you would like to comment about the music your listening to?

  • Hangover 2 brought me here :))

  • Howling wolf was a great slide guitarist but the best?Check out JB Hutto a chicago blues guy that never got much publicity but was an awesome slide man.His nephew is lil ed who did a lot of stuff with conan Obrien on his show...

  • Chester Arthur Barnett Fucking Such An Amazing Musician! Greatest Slide Guitarist of All Time Bar None!!!!

  • R.I.P. Hubert Sumlin...

  • talk about dirty dancing

  • You's got to soak your mouth harp in gin or whiskey for a bit, then you can play them BLUES, can't recall if that was Little Walter blowing here with the Wolf, sure is good!

  • @emriederekify Little Walter played with Muddy Waters not Howlin' wolf cuz they were rivals in the artist world

  • @emriederekify

    Chromatic too?

  • think you might have a valid point (susie Q)

  • Great beath of fresh air. Thank you, thank you.

  • That lick sounds like the hook from Susie Q...I wonder if John Fogerty ever listened to Wolf...lol

  • @neilyoungster : I'm pretty sure he did. All those Rock N' Roll cats of the 50's, 60's and 70's were schooled by the Blues and incorporated it into their sound.

  • @neilyoungster first though when I heard that

  • Comment removed

  • @neilyoungster Hey Neily,

I woudn't doubt it. Fogerty is big fan of Howlin' wolf. "Howlin' Wolf, was a big influence on me. When I did 'Run Through the Jungle,' I was being Howlin' Wolf"

  • @neilyoungster ya think?

  • great style blues

  • Always love when the Grateful Dead do this stuff. Smokestack, Spoonful, ect.........Love the Blues

  • had to love him first time I heard him too long ago to say. but still like the first time.

  • i love the blues :) just turned 18 and started playin guitar cause i can't skate anymore. crushed my ankle last summer... this really gives me a lot of satisfaction :)

    (sry for my bad english)

  • Tell me Youtube fellas how to achieve that state of collness ???!!!!Jezzz man , i want to be a f.. goddammed bluesman just for a 4 minutes song, and it's all right if the grinreaper come to my soul afterwards!!!!!!!!!

  • @polyjr Grin Reaper? Good to know he's cheerful in his work! UK music Journalist Charles Shaar Murray once said Wolf's voice sounded like a hurricane being forced through a letterbox. That's the power of his voice!

  • My Daddy used to play this song.

  • I find it amazing that brittish rock bands eclipsed real blues in the 60's. This is the real stuff. By the way - if you play blues in the bedroom instead of smooth jazz, you won't need viagra.

  • Love...love...love...

  • AH-OOooo....so hey - at around the 24 second mark, there is a sweet piece of artwork shown....the wolves...the moon....it's on the screen for a while...where can i get a copy?

  • How good is this. Stumbled on to it. Someone used it as background to a vid on Sony Liston!

    Real music - how true!!

  • The people in 1956 must have shit themselves when they heard this. Heavy as fuck!

  • Some dummy asked me recently..."Hey isn't that the song they wrote for the Viagra commercial?"...OMG, how ignorant is the majority of the young folks today?!?

  • when is this?

  • thumbs up for the descripcion.

  • You know it's a deep grove when two bars repeat for over three minutes and it's still an influential classic.

  • A blues classic! Does anyone else hear in Eric Burdon and the Animals "I'm Crying," some "Smokestack Lightnin'?"

  • wOW

  • I do not get the 16 responses who did not like this hot song, were they expecting the Bee Gees, Donny & Marie or the Monkeys? Sorry... I just do not get it.... call me dumb if you want...it's OK I can live with it....

  • God Bless The Wolf!:)

  • Who needs Viagra? This song makes my dick hard.

  • @FatWongFoo

we say lol all the time , i really laughed out loud!!!!

  • @FatWongFoo lol !

  • 2B1ASK1

  • I'm Howlin!

  • Fuck off Viagra people, we don't care that you can't get it up anymore..

  • This song brins back memories from long ago.

  • Fuck you if you came here because of viagra. Keep your worthless middle aged cock away from the classics.

  • @leeharveyosmosis lol - nicely stated.

  • @leeharveyosmosis if you're black and pull weeds from the crackers cottons fields in pulaski county,ga during the 1970s. i know feel the blues, cause i sho can

  • @MrSkeegeedawg

It's more "not wanting to think about limp willies" than an anti-middle aged man thing.

  • @leeharveyosmosis i understand where u comin from...lol. i remember them hot summers and long rows in them fields. yo granddaddy get all yo money and give u 10 dollars

  • @MrSkeegeedawg RIGHT!

  • @Screamingdk you pulled weeds too? welcome to the club. what county did you work in?

  • @leeharveyosmosis I died a little inside when I saw that commercial.

  • @leeharveyosmosis That sounds like a haiku . lol

  • @leeharveyosmosis Oh Yeahhh !!!!

  • @leeharveyosmosis i have no idea why thats aimed at anyone but i lol'd good show old bean

  • @leeharveyosmosis lol so mad. who cares if some people came here for Viagra, whats important is that they heard the song and liked it, be nice to fellow blues lovers, we are few and far between my friend.

That being said, Mr.Wolf one of the most amazing voices I've heard. For those who you who might want a treat I also suggest Boyd River.

  • @Fruscianteistheman I'll drink to that, my friend!

  • @Fruscianteistheman thanks for the head up. Boyd really has a distinctive voice; now I'll try to listen to more of him!

  • @leeharveyosmosis My middle aged cock IS classic.

  • @ExpieMF

    lol!

  • @leeharveyosmosis

I was wondering when someone was going to say that!

  • R.I.P. Howlin' Wolf

  • I am a hardcore metal head. But this is just Blues at its finest. It's amazing

  • Hollywood lied about him also. He was financially wealthy. He got the howl from a musician that was teaching him how to Yodel bout he decided to howl instead!

  • This man's voice is so powerful it takes your breath away...!

  • Check out Caddiliac Records. It features: Etta James ( Beynonce ) Muddy Waters ( Jeffery Wright ) Little Walter ( un-known ) &others. You will enjoy it~

  • @rickames Little Walter was Columbus Short

  • highway music

  • This makes Viagara cool!!!

  • HISTORY! Wolf WAS AND IS THE VOICE OF THE BLUES! The old stuff was around tenor range. That gravel voice launched the style from then on.BB would agree!
