You should set up a camera downrange, so people can see where the shots are landing, and hear whats its like to be on the business end of one of these.
golfer....hmph! these canon dudes got a birdy faster !!!! i can see why it took hundreds of years for artillery to get acurate .. and then it`s still a hit n miss ...nice video
Golfers are what's considered "fair game" if they are putting in our target area. If we see 'em we, we do a countdown that goes "three, two, one, fore" so we can show we played by the rules in case they get hit.
Something else that comes to mind conserning your accuracy issues. What was the design range for this weapon? It could be that your projectile is still high on its balistic path. Just a thought!
After we got back from the range we found out our jerry-rigged sight mount had come loose while we were shooting. This was certainly responsible for some of the erratic shots.
That problem will be fixed before we shoot this gun again.
Thanks, good observation, I can explain. The original projectiles for this gun were hollow explosive projectiles. We're using solid thus heavier projectiles as an experiment. The bore size, land-to-land of this gun is 3.0 inches, which determines its "pounder" rating. A nine-pounder has a larger bore. Due to the fact that elongated projectiles can come in various lengths, and are usually hollow, the old "pounder" designation left over from round-shot days causes much confusion.

Was kinda surprised by the scale of the cannon when the guy walked on screen, kind of assumed it was bigger. Nice video though.

Hi, I'm a French guy US field guns fan...Here we cant use such a big bore...But smaller Yes!
It's funny too use scaled guns: 1/3-1/5-1/8 and even 1/10...Obviously it's not the same caliber...But...!
Your video is awesome...Thanks for!
Will U take a look to the 9 of mine?
On Utube, clic for instance: canon napoleon III (in fact an US field gun)and I own 2 videos about an English field gun 1/8 scale!!!
Bye, and thanks again!

The British square would have been in trouble from the attacking fuzzies.
I think a heavier shell and a touch more powder will increase your accuracy.
Where did you find this treasure?

We have one or two original barrels left, $6K. You have to find or make a carriage yourself.

Another reason for our poor accuracy...
After we got back from the range we found out our jerry-rigged sight mount had come loose while we were shooting. This was certainly responsible for some of the erratic shots.
