I absoulutely love new york city and have been there over 10 times!!!!!!!!! and i love airtran to i also love delta connection there both smooth rides and are always on time and your right this aproach to runway 31 is very nice but a bit of a firm landing my dad is a pilot for delta connection and my uncle is a pilot for airtran airways pretty cool!!!!!!!!!!!
I flew into LGA about a month ago on a US Airways A321 and it was the smoothest landing I've ever experienced. It looks like this flight was just a firm landing by the pilot in command. A 7000' runway is generally a more than adequate length for landing a midsize commercial aircraft on, and by observing about 3 hours' worth of landings on runway 31 from the terminal, it didn't appear that the arriving flights were landing any harder than normal.
i think planes use a lot less of rwy 31 because they want to make the turn off before runway 4-22 to save alot of time. if they go past it they have to wait for departures on 4 to go off before they can cross, wasting more time. i dont know if thats true but it seems like a good reason not to use all of the 7000'
@N605JB Yes your absolutly right. Its called Land and Hold Short Operations(LAHSO). It helps the controllers out alot if we can land the aircraft before crossing the intersecting runway. PLUS all the gates except the delta shuttle are before that intersection so it helps us out alot also. Saves time and fuel.
@DeltaAirtran "He let the throttle decrease to early" Says the guy that wasn't in the cockpit and with presumably, no flight experience. Let's leave the flying to the professionals up front, shall we?
they might slam on the brakes there..but you have never been on an adventure till you've flown into Chicago-Midway! They really slam on the brakes there!!!
I LOVE THE 717-200

Its always cool to fly over Citi Field! Whenever I go to a Mets game, I love watching the planes takeoff or land right over the stadium! Great video!

@N605JB So how much runway would they be leaving themselves then? 5800 feet?

Pretty hard landing but at least you still got to LaGuardia. He let the throttle decrease to early. I always fly Airtran and always will.

Is AirTran a good airline? I'm flying from Baltimore to Miami in November and I need to know whether it's good or not. I've heard positive reviews.
