I really enjoy the "natural" moments photos because there were so many acting photos, the professional in-ads pics were very non-vulnerable,which,in my opinion, one of her best qualities was her vulnerability. She could turn on the star when she wanted, and could let her true self show in some photos. One thing that's good to do is look at the pics photographers chose not to use.they're usually very naturally beautiful.
My grandma, before she married my now dead grandpa, had a mutual friend that knew Marilyn. She'd come to his apartment in Brooklyn and they'd sit, talk, drink tea. My grams thought she wasn't very nice. Not over the top mean, but just not very nice. And it drives me nuts because she's so prejudiced about her. She constantly puts me down for liking a woman who was so messed up and who did drugs. She's convinced she wasn't much to speak about.I think she's jealous as well.
On the flip side, my grandfather really liked her. He thought she was sweet and kind and interesting and far smarter than she would let people believe.

wow, i didn't know there were that many photos of MM...there's probably more...
love how photographers were able to capture her more "natural" moments.
my grandma hated her, called her a "fat cow" or "whore" or some such. i think she was jealous!
