Yes! I watched your video and just finished re-taping my old haggard looking hoop. Now she looks gorgeous! I used one of your ideas with the gaffers on the inside of the hoop and I paid attention to your recommendation of lying the metallic tape first. Thanks for the great advice and ideas. Besides looking beautiful, she sticks to my less than ideal hooping clothes;)
if you only use metallic tape the edges of the tape will peel up, you could try laying a clear tape, like a hockey sock tape over top of the edges of the metallic. but you would also end up with a really slippery hoop with out any gaffer tape.
hello, can someone suggest to me another kind of tubing because I live in GDL Mexico and I can't find that kind of tubing how a about 100 psi or 125psi thats the harder one I found.
Wow...thanks so much! I am eager to try making my own hoop...I just want one for me so I can learn the how'to of hooping. I am 51 and never too old to learn such a fantastic craft and means of exercise..you are the bomb!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR "HOW TO" INSTRUCTIONS!!! After snafu-ing my first-timer hula hoops with wrinkly duct tape, you've shown me how it's done best. Just finished my first New-Orleans-colored hoop (purple green and gold) for a friend's birthday present. She loved it!
Great vid! I've added it to a *how to make a hula hoop* website I've made. It includes websites, videos (such as yours here), pics and sources on how to make a hula hoop. You'll find the site on squidoo dot com. Then search on "how to make a hula hoop," and you'll find it. Have fun! And make a couple while you're at it. They're can't be too many hula hoops in the world. :)
I LOVE your videos. I just bought my materials to make my first hoop. Do you recommend any places to get a wide assortment of tapes. I could only find 3/4" and 1/2" vinyl tape at the Home Depot in my town. We don't have a Lowe's. Where did you pick up the wider tape, specialty (glitter, reflective, and gaff)?
Natasha, a BIG THANK YOU for this! I know a lot of beginner hoop makers (myself included) will save a lot of time & money just by watching this vid. I really appreciate this. :)
ps: in addition to using glitter tape first, if it's mistakenly used it's impossible to remove without leaving a trail of glue and glitter behind. That was one of my lessons. :)
Very helpful Natasha! Thanks for the excellent job in explaining the process.

I would love to know what kind of tape too. My metallic tape doesn't have the backing and it wrinkles and looks, as you say "really bad."

the boiling water method works best

I think that 125 psi should be ok, some tape will make it heavier.
