I don't want to sound like an ass but they're called credit unions. They do need to grow in America though, there is too much credit moving out of communities to giant banking firms, making debt slaves of us all, and especially the poor. Too many on the left have ill conceived ideas for helping the poor because they don't even consider that the poor need to be independent to be free and prosperous.
