It was a different time, we're talking almost 50 years ago. Mason Adams the voice over was a famous actor and close associate of Ed Asner, the president of the Screen Actors Guild. I hardly think that Mason Adams was a racist because he read ad copy.

yeah, this is about as racist a car commercial as would be allowed (even in 1964), but the car is nice. My first car was an Electra 225 (71 four-door), easily fit 8 or ten teenagers, with a couple in the trunk holding a keg....
