It was a different time, we're talking almost 50 years ago. Mason Adams the voice over was a famous actor and close associate of Ed Asner, the president of the Screen Actors Guild. I hardly think that Mason Adams was a racist because he read ad copy.
LOL like another poster said --> This is none other than JOCK EWING FROM THE TV SHOW DALLAS driving! This is kinda funny, and back when people could take a joke. BUT HOW MANY OF YOU THINK THIS AD MIGHT RUB SOME CANDYASS CRYBABIES THE WRONG WAY IN 2009?? My parents had a 67 Buick Wildcat (this ad is for a 1964). They bought it the day my mom found out from the doc they were going to have me!
yeah, this is about as racist a car commercial as would be allowed (even in 1964), but the car is nice. My first car was an Electra 225 (71 four-door), easily fit 8 or ten teenagers, with a couple in the trunk holding a keg....
racist like hell. It looks like hes getting car-jacked by spics, who in turn would turn this into a low rider. The ten teenagers would have had to be dwarfs and the 455 probably leaked oil.
Why? spics love stealing cars to convert to low riders, the perfect conveyance for driving to the relief office to pick up food stamps and diapers for their greasy little bastards..
If it weren't for political correctness, we could still be enjoying commercials like this today. Actually, if General Motors came out with some classic cars and classic commercials, they wouldn't need a bailout.
Mason Adams originally started his acting career on radio {"PEPPER YOUNG'S FAMILY"}, and because one of the most "dependable" New York-based narrator/announcers on radio and TV by the early '60s....
Beautiful car! Someday I'd love to own one.

While I recognize the voice of Mason Adams (i.e. the Smuckers guy), was that Jim Davis (i.e. Jock Ewing) as the cowboy?

I had one of these cars. Biggest damn interior space I ever saw that wasn't a limo.

Except for the Electras! lol
Waldo99 2 years ago
Yep, I think they are about the same. I have a 67 Electra 226 custom that is huge.

Yeah the "Deuce and a quarters" (225) Electras are great. That is the model I have also in a convertible.

Most people don't know that the man driving the car is the late JIM DAVIS who later was best known for playing JOCK EWING on DALLAS.

Wow, the early car jacking days! Three hispanics car jacking a white man, how shocking!
