Interesting that he does not use legato as per most cellists treatment of this prelude. The score that I have of this music also indicates individual notes to be played rather than slured (detache rather than legato).

wow, I've seen yo-yo ma perform this piece but i must say in comparison this performance is a bit better/

Thank you for sharing. I will be watching Jian Wang and Gustavo Dudamel for many years to come. I heard Wang in San Francisco about 25 years ago when he was a kid. I am very happy that Dudamel has grown into Music Director of Los Angeles Philharmonic. Also, thank you, Venezuela.

This man has single-handedly framed the way I hear the cello suites. I would highly recommend listening to his recordings of the rest of them. I think if I ever met him I'm sure I would burst into tears! Well, it'd just be a pretty amazing moment.

@catherinebsteele I completely agree, I think Wang was the one who really got me into the Cello Suites! I had a couple of masterclasses with him a few years ago, and he's a really inspirational human being, as well as a fantastic cellist!
