Hey, I'm moving to Salzburg to study this coming September and I was wondering what the nightlife was like?? I'm 20 so was looking at a club scene as opposed to bars/pubs but as I'm Irish I'm sure I'll be frequenting many in my stay. Help would be great as it's hard to find decent accounts of the entertainment available (apart from sound of music tours etc.)
Lucky you to study in Salzburg. To find out the hottest clubs this season start your evening at the Shamrock Irish pub in the Old Town. From the English-speaking bartenders as well as the patrons you'll find out everything you want to know about what clubs are hot and not. Cheers!
I was lucky enough to go on an excursion to Obersalzberg and Salzburg when I was in the Army stationed in Frankfurt. I stayed at the General Walker. Thank you so much for posting these videos. They bring back some wonderful memories.
To say "camping" in German is "camping," the same word. To find good camping in Salzburg, try either Camping Panorama (3km north of Old Town, open mid-March thru Oct, office generally 7:30-23:00), or try Campground Schloss Aigen (5km southwest of Old Town, open May-Sept, office generally 7:30-22:45). If you are traveling by car, I'd stay at the latter campground -- it's more peaceful, rural. If you're traveling by train, I'd recommend staying at a hostel. Happy travels!
What's the nightlife like???? I'll be studying in Universitzät Salzburg this coming September but want to go out and about in the evenings. Any tips??
yes the nightlife is amazing C: i think it's great, i was twice ( sorry, that my english is so bad :o ) i'm just 14 years old, so i'm not going out so often. :/
and will be attending summer school for 6 months at Salzburg University , I am worried about the language since I speak only English and African languages ...what language is that ..and is the city freindly
Lucky you! It will be a wonderful chapter in your life to study in Salzburg, especially in summer. There's no need to worry about anything here, in this beautiful corner of the world. Although you will want to learn some German to communicate with locals in their own language, most Salzburgers speak English making a stay here uncomplicated. Millions around the globe wish they had your opportunity to travel and study, see and learn new things. Thus I will conclude the way I began: Lucky you!
I moved away from Salzburg 3 years ago, and I miss i every day, the freh air, the beautiful scenery the language (ich liebe deutsch und Salzburg) I also miss the real people the food and everything else!!!! I wish my parents let me go back, but I really hope it ahsn't changed... x x x x I LOVE SALZBURG x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
to everyone: i definatly recommend visiting salzburg! it is one of the most beautiful cities i have ever visited, possibly my favorite! so once again, i highly recommend salzburg! =)
You're welcome. Yes, I recommend a trip to Salzburg. From Munich trains depart hourly to Salzburg, two-hour trip. If you don't already have a rail pass, buy what's called the Bayern (or Bavaria) Ticket, valid from 9am till 3am the following morning for all your public transportation within Bavaria (except speed trains), including to/fro Salzburg. Bayern Ticket for one person costs 19Euro, up to five persons 27Euro. You can buy a similar ticket (called Bayern-Böhmen) to Czech, 22E/32E
So i am going to Salzburg now. Thanks for the info. Can i ask one last question?..Where do you buy these Bayern ticket and Bayern-Bohmen ticket? Do i have to order it online before i get there or buy from local stations? And I will need to buy several of them ? right? Example.. one Bayern ticket to get to Salzburg and one to Salzburg to munich? Or there is a weekly pass? Thanks so much for all your videos and info. Now i really wanna see Salzburg :)
You're welcome! Buy ticket in automat (button for English) at train station prior to departure. You can also buy ticket over the counter or onboard train but with a 2 euro ($3) surcharge. Ticket is valid on all public transportation within Bavaria (except high-speed trains), 2nd-class seating Mon-Fri from 9am till 3am & Sat-Sun from midnight till 3am next morning. Thus, if you return to Munich on the same day, you need just the one ticket. Same details apply for Bohmen ticket. Have fun!
i have tried to get the book that you talked about (germany and austria the quest for the bavarian cross) but i am having trouble so i was wondering if you would email me your list of recommended places to visit and things to do in austria? Thanks!
First, THANK YOU for watching and your interest! Sorry for the delayed response but I've been on the road in Germany & Austria the last two months sleuthing out the latest updates for the 2008 edition of my travel guide. I have now put my email address and website on my YouTube channel so people can easily contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the compliment! I would have to say, Salzburg is my favorite city in all of Europe. Stay tuned, because I have many more Euro travelogues to come.
