That they never did Phantasy Star Generation 4 update (lets face it, is the odd game of the pack and can be left out) or made English versions of the games tells a lot of what SEGA thinks of the fans.
I still think they should get back to finishing the work they started and making English versions as there are plenty of old fans who would love it and new gamers who would like to try it out.
Thank you for releasing seventy unwanted "Sonic" games released in the US instead of the remakes of PS1 and 2. You really know how to reward your faithful customers.
@cutejoshie Eat my ass. Aside from Sonic 2006, I've enjoyed most of the new Sonic games. And Japan can keep that remake of Phantasy Star II, since the original was easily the biggest pile of buffalo bullfuck Sega ever made. The original PS was a masterpiece but its sequel had the sucking power of a black hole.
@megagrey Shh. Admitting you enjoyed those abominations automatically eliminates you from the discussion. Go eat your own ass. No one here is interested.
@cutejoshie Sorry, but even if it was a choice between Sonic 2006 and Phantasy Star II while being confined in solitary for a month...I'd still choose Sonic 2006. I at least got SOMETHING out of Sonic 2006. I got nothing but agony from Phantasy Star II.
@megagrey Classics aren't for everyone. It's okay. Shitty games aren't for me...and between Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I, that's all there was in that series.
@cutejoshie Old does not automatically mean classic. 'Shitty' Sonic games like Unleashed and Black Knight...good characters, interesting stories, fun new gameplay gimmicks. Not as great as the Genesis and Dreamcast sequels but a fun time. Phantasy Star II? Blah characters, depressing and retarded story, stupidly broken gameplay...a disaster from start to finish.
So yeah, it's like this: Phantasy Star II < bone marrow donation < 99% of all Sonic games ever made < Phantasy Star I
@megagrey Unleashed and Black Knight had NONE of the characteristics you listed. I'm sorry if you didn't get into PS2...but I'm sure the majority of people who play games will agree that you are the minority here. So keep playing games with horrid glitches and lackluster gameplay. That's your perogative. No one is trying to stop you. I'm not sure why you keep arguing your point. You're entitled to it, but I'm never going to agree with you.
You know that she went on to make babies with Odin's studliness. Lutz is a little too fem for a cute chick like Alis. Besides, that'd make the RunexAlys thing in PS4 a little akward.
No, in fact, it's believed she married a completely different guy thought we never find out about him as one of the Game Gear games actually features the daughter of Alys (not to mention Alys herself late in the game).
You're right, I remember seeing pics of that game - Alys had a completely new look to her, her hair was this weird color and her kid didn't look that much like her. I wonder if that game was canon to the series?
The person you're talking about is actually Mina, Alis' clone (a fan translation wrongly translated her as Alis' daughter). The game is considered canon. :)
What mina? i dont know what or who are you talking about dude, explain please! who is that mina? the girl of the guardians HQ counter in PSU? or what? and what's about the clone of alissa?
@silverfox889 LOL! Well, I hope Alis and Odin at least waited a few years before they, uh, hooked up, if that's the case. She's 15 and he's 28 at the time of their adventure. Odin is a total studmuffin, though. His remake is total hotness, except that end game uniform looks like some German dress uniform from WWI.
I think they already made a "GBA" collection of the first three games, which I have, and another on ps2 with 2,3, and 4. But the first one was still the old low quality one, nowhere near the quality I saw in this one.
I might also add an extra ending sequence in my version if players complete it on the hardest difficulty with 100% where Darkness Force's face appears on a monitor vowing to return in 1,000 years, leaving it open for the Phantasy Star II remake.
I might consider having a compilation that has the american & japanes Sega Master System versions (with both having the enhancements they had on the Phantasy Star Collection [Complete Collection on PS2]), Phantasy Star: Generation 1 & Phantasy Star: Deluxe Edition.
all four games would contain the option of picking the language you want & the Sega MasterSystem versions would have the option of turning on HD graphics.
the collection would be called "Phantasy Star: Deluxe Generations Binder"
They really deviated from the original's story: The Governor in Paseo was actually Dark Falz incognito (you fight him as "The Succubus" in a nightmare upon first meeting him). Seeing him as a separate person in this remake kind've played down the "Haha, I've been manipulating you!" effect from the original. Oh well, SEGA really screwed itself anyways... no western remake for fans that don't speak Japanese (which vastly outnumbers the Japanese-only market).
Why do you think you fight the Succubus when you sleep at the Governor's Mansion the first time? It was a plot device to point toward the Governor's dubious nature.
That's why the Governor is mysteriously absent in the original Phantasy Star's conclusion and the tunnels to his Mansion were where you encounter Dark Falz.
The Governor General isn't absent from the ending in the original or the remake. He says in both the English and Japanese versions of the original that he was possessed, and then he tells Alisa that her father was King of Algol, etc.
The Phantasy Star Compendium doesn't say that the Governor-General was Dark Force incognito either. I believe you're mistaken.
The "Nightmare" apparition of Dark Force, btw, I took to be similar to Eusis/Rolf's dream in Phantasy Star II. It doesn't mean anything.
Nah, Alisa is actually going to her coronation ceremony. The group agrees to continue to support Alisa when she becomes queen, but no marriage between any characters. I should get around to translating this scene.

What a lame ending. The original version was far more dramatic and even the credits roll was special.

I do like how Lutz is animated in this version, he looks a lot less effeminate.

Did the series imply she married one of them?

No, actually it didn't. I was just adressing a previous comment that said she should get with Lutz, so I took the other side. xD

but i want THIS GAME on my DS. The DS can handle this... maybe with a little downgrade, but it will be awesome.
SuperFeffy 3 years ago
Downgrade would be unnecessary for the most part. If Bleach came out good on DS, no reason the same can't be said of Phantasy Star.

Why is this not in the states?
princenoah21 3 years ago
1. The Generations Remake project was canceled after Generation II after Sega decided to just re-release the original versions of all 4 PS games.
2. The American company who originally wanted this published went bankrupt.
3. Most of the Phantasy Star games came with the Sega Genesis Classics for PS2 and PSP.
Man, I wish these would come anyway. Maybe someday I'll learn Kanji...
GullGet9 3 years ago
Damn. I want 'em so bad!

No he wasn't. In Phantasy Star IV Sham/Seth was Dark Force incognito, but in Phantasy Star I and Phantasy Star Generation: 1 the Governor was not.
