Umm HP And Torque are not ment to be the same. For example a Tractor can have 500 ISO HP @ The engine and put out over 1000ft pound of torque. But who give a fuck. Step into the future man its Nm anyway

ya, it's all based on compression/boost and stroke: for example, my cbr1000 has uber short stroke but high compression 12.3:1, so it has like 160hp at redline but only like 80something lb-ft of torque. whereas my 73 dodge P/U with a 360ci has long stroke w/low compression and has 130hp but like 235lb-ft of torque

Yeah it does sounds pretty crazy, HP is the engine's ability to produce torque at verious levels of horsepower...

You MIGHT be able to get an engine such as diesel that would produce larger number of torque over horsepower but too tired to check...

it depends on how under or over square your motor is, one makes more hp than torque the(shorter stroke bigger bore) other is vice versa(smaller bore longer stroke), if your motor is perfectly square(same stroke and bore) it should put out the same hp and tourque numbers, but motors are seldomly square, that how that happens:]
