  • watched a guy land a 100 +pound ray off the 2nd street peir down there this past summer

  • Thats nice. My dad caught a 35 pounder on surfside pier in MB it was 5 feet across.

  • 1:06

    Lol

  • What part of MB was this? Lookds to be around 30th-40th avenue north?

  • Pretty much no surfers. Perfect beach for fishing.. I went last year and caught a 30 pound sand shark. So it's pretty good

  • What time of the year was this?

  • @stitch16261 It was Oct. One of the best months to surf fish around here.

  • @Cathooker2 Is there pretty good surf? Are there a lot of surfers? Do a lot of tourist go during summer...what are high seasons there?

  • @agenthelios1 The surf is not very big only during storms, there are a lot of people but not crowded, May thru Sept..

  • :18 ghost O.o

  • Yea fall on that ass lololololololo!

  • i was there xD

  • i hooked a stingray once in Charleston SC, but it buried itself under the sand and broke my line

  • is there an oil spill heading for Myrtle Beach soon?

  • omfg i was there when you were there and i saw it small world

  • haha 1:57 FAIL

  • im going to myrtle beach tonight

  • @KMTfisherman double drop steel rig with 2 or 3 ounce sinker 14 # line live finger mullet for bait. this is the same rig I caught the shark with.

  • Wow! I live here now and I love the new board walk. It's a nice piece of work. Great Catch

  • @wemister Thanks

  • @wemister The new board walk. I hear its like awesome. Im going to MB in July and Im staying at Resort Quest- Market Common.

  • I've seen crazy stuff since living here, sharks included (right up to the shore in low tide even) but, never a sting ray yet. I would only be so lucky!

  • @xxhernoisexx are sharks common there 1 out of 10 how often do u see them cause i go down there twice a year and was just woundering

  • @MasterMorg86 Yes there are sharks in the water they tend to congregate near piers, reefs and inlets. I can't remember the last time someone was bitten It's been awhile.

You are more likely to be stung by jelly fish.:)

  • Wow!!! I've seen lots of jellyfish on the beach but I have never seen a stingray!

  • dang i remember those days im going there this spring break and all and probably going to those twin hotels and that giant ass tower that place is beast but yea i cant wait to go

  • i'm going to myrtle beach in 2 weeks and i might not go so far into the water anymore. lol. i've seen videos of sharks and stingrays being caught right on the shore O_O

  • They come in close during late summer and fall. When we have the annual mullet/spots running along the shore south to florida.

You will be ok I promise :)

  • i live in myrtle beach. i go to the beach every day! i went during a really bad storm once.

  • myrtle beach FTW!

    I live here too

  • lol keep repeating it at 1:57. :D

  • ive caught so many stingrays, they're probably the easiest fish to catch in the bay. My record is a 44" wide 50+ pound took me over 30min to get in and i caught it on 65 pound spider wire.

Over off of 23rd in Alameda. Good spot for small shark and sting ray.

  • why did he slip over

  • lasttime i went to the beach, oak island nc, i got stung by one of those things. they hurt haha

  • skimboardin is it good there

  • in oak island? umm... its good for wooden boards i dont have a fiberglass one. i mainly surf, idk y i made my name skimbordfreak, but the waves arnt normally good so surfing sucks.

  • ohhh hahahah i see

  • I was in North MB last week, & a stingray washed up on shore in the A.M. after high tide.. The fishing there is great.

  • I'm going there in late august, and this time I'm trying to go on one of those 12 hr. fishing tours. How would you catch something like that?

  • The head boats are nice 12 hours that sounds like the gulf stream trip I've been aon a few you should do well this time of year.

This ray was caught on a 5 inch mullet with a 3 ounce sinker trown out as far as possible.

    Good luck

  • i go with hurricaine fleet. I caught a 8 lb spiny dogfish last time.

  • Maybe a bird dragged it up there. Kids play with stuff like that.

  • What kind of fish do you normally catch fishing from the beach like that? What kind of bait and wat set up do you use? I am going there in august so i was curious.

  • you can catch all types of fish from the beach whiting, dart, taylor and salmon it all depends on what you are trying to catch i would suggest an alvey reel with a 12ft rod probly one that is bout 4-6kg and depending on what u want to catch use pillies for taylor worms for whiting and pippies ir you can find them. Well hope i helped a bit have a good fishing trip

  • thanks

  • It depends on what time of the year.summer trout ,whiting, spanish mackeral, flounder. larger fish like king mackeral, blues, black grouper, shark, start moving in closer to shore in late August when Large schools of finger mullet move along the shore. this is the start of the season

    I will message you.

  • cool thanks, i will be there august 8th

  • hey. i live in georgetown..about 25 minutes away from the beach...the best thing to use for bait is smaller fish...if your going to the North End of Pawley's stop at the south end and go catch bait in the creek with a casting net...store bought bait isn't as good.

  • you got luck i've only been to myrtle beach twice my first vacation there was when i was 1 i think and i remember a little of it i think and disney world when i was 5 or 4 i think and myrtle beach last year and if you haven't picked a hotel yet which you likely did i can say the dunes village is the best so tell people bout it

  • i was in florida i think and someone was being a ass and they caught probably a medium sized fish and they just left it on de beach wth then finally someone picked it up and threw it bak in de water

  • lol u just made 10 thousand dollas... you sholud really send that video in you would probably win 10 thousand dollas haha... what bait was it caught on

  • It was caught with a mullet about 4 inchs long.

  • yea, that things real tiny, i live in myrtle and surf nearly every day ive seen rays bigger than that. nice catch though

  • i live by market commons u

  • must a been cause i go every summer for the 4 of july and stay that week and its packed

  • This was in mid October after tourist season.

  • there is hardly no people on the beach.

  • Wouldnt it be a Manta Ray if it is so large?

  • I found this online, do a search for southern stingray.

The southern stingray reaches a maximum disc width of 79 inches (200cm) and weight of 214 lbs (97 kg). Little is known about its average life span and growth rate.

  • Really? Nice.

I live in Florida and when we go fishing and boating there are Manta Rays flying out of the water.

  • nice catch

should have upgraded the line put a circle hook on it and then cut that ray a few times and used it for shark bait im sure someone could have taken it out past the breakers in a kayak or something and dropped it in for ya would had been killer shark bait anyhow

    either way nice ray

  • dam stingrays, youll think for sure youv got yourself a tasty flounder then wam a stingray, but why were you using 14 pound line out there?

  • 14# came with the rod. He was using a 2 foot steel leader.

  • Sweet catch Cathooker2! For the tourists: I live in Myrtle Beach and you would not believe what we have off our coast. I have seen dolphins, several types of sharks, sting rays, skates, huge concentrations of jellyfish, barracuda, whales, lion fish, sea turtles, alligators, sea snakes and eels. Rays of this size are quite common, I have caught several surf and pier fishing. It is the ocean, why would anyone think these types of fish don't visit? They are awesome and VERY strong!

  • Thanks for the comment PV It was one of the best fights I've ever had !

Yes we have alot of fish because the gulf stream is so close, I have seen Dolphins in the Waccamaw river near Wachesaw.

  • ahhh sting ray!! we r going to myrtle beach this sep. and renting one of the houses. hope i dont run into one!!

  • that had to have been one strong rod and line i live there and have caught them fishing for flounder and they fell much stronger than they look

  • iam taking a trip down there in June 30 into early july what fish will be out there and what kind of bait should i use for those fish

  • Finger Mullet is the bait of choice they can be bought or caught with a cast net.

  • This is too late but for future purposes use Blue Fish as bait. cut it into i inch chunks!!!

  • 10000 dollars thats what my dad says everytime sombody does somthing funny on camera lol. I caught a stingray off the appachee peer. I had to pull it up with my crab net

  • Lots of stingrays around here. thanks for commenting

  • my dad has a house at appachee and when i go down there we always fish for the day.

  • It took about 45 minutes to land and he moved about 150 yards from where he started.
