strats are common cuz their some of the best. LesPauls are kewl but super expensive to get the same quality as a strat. the SG has its up, like being lighter, and more comfortable than the LP, but the strat is by far the most comfortable guitar ive ever played. I use stats for one style, and LPs for another style of play

an sg is a les paul but lighter and it has a double cutaway design, maybe there are other differences that im not aware of but they are pretty similar guitars
