  • exei alla video tetoia an exei please anebasteta!!!!!!!!;-)

  • sometimes, striving not to get is 1000+ times harder than striving to get

  • they should have put the second one in... thats closest to the book and we see his pain...

  • first scene was not effective as the scene they used in the series (where he softly spoke outside her door as she solemnly took off her wedding dress to put on her gray dress without a word)

second one was really sweet. i agree that they should have put it in!

  • God! The first scene makes Mr. Rochester look like a freaking rapist! The second scene made me cry! Those directors screwed up by not putting it in the movie!

  • haha, she broken his...hand :)))and that is the rison of his broken hand on last episode lol :D

  • LOL the first scene was pretty dramatic. damn she's strong. haha

the second one on the other hand, broke my heart :(

  • "Jane Eyre's love would have been my best reward. Without my heart is broken." that line always tears at my heart. it shows such open desperation it's tear-inducing.

  • What a shame this was deleted

  • I thought the 1st scene was a little much, but WHY WASN'T THE FREAKING SECOND SCENE NOT IN THE MOVIE???????? :( I LOVE IT! IT MADE ME CRY!!!

  • why the heck is this not in the movie!? both these scenes are PERFECT!! they both show Rochester's desperate, passionate, and brutally fierce love for Jane and when he cries!!!, OMG my OWN heart melts!!! lol. to me it translates the depth of their emotions displayed in the novel. ugggh! so aggravated they didn't put this in the movie it would have made it completely PERFECT!

  • @MystickalChristian I super duper agree with you in the first scene.

But the second scene was better. I like it so much because my dearest Mr. Rochester cried. How touching! It almost made me cry.

  • "Jane Eyre's love is my best reward." :( in the book, that part made me cry. this has got to be one of the best romance novel, ever!

  • The first scene was too melodramatic and incongruous.

But the second scene was perfect. Why was it not left in? Instead, we have Jane telling Rochester that they will "talk in the morning".

My one disappointment in an otherwise sublime production.

  • @supergran1000 well, the 1st scene would at least reveal the violent manner Mr. Rochester responded to Jane's refusal to live with him...if you read the book you would see that at time, he became violent and overtly passionate...almost dominating

  • @rockyraaacoon It is incongruous because, just prior to this, Rochester says "I must see to my wife" (in the book: "I must shut up my prize") and leaves Jane to return to Bertha's room.

The pleading and "violence" occurs later that afternoon and, admittedly, is a very intense and emotional scene.

  • exei kialla???

  • @pigisi

exei, alla den ta exo anevasei ego

  • Good Lord! More like Mr. Rapechester with him trying to force himself into her room like that. I can sort of understand why they let that one go from the film.

  • @MystickalChristian LOL i wish i could "favorite" your comment

  • @MystickalChristian lolz, yeah, but he kinda almost tried to rape her in the book, too.

  • Can somebody send me the script (dialogues) of this scene please ? It's better for me to understand. Thanks a lot !

  • @mailongquang Do you have it ??? Send me pleaseee!!!

  • I'm sorry, but the first one made me laugh my head off . I know it's supossed to be "emotional" but I couldn't help it! :D

  • "Jane Eyre''s love would have been my best reward. Without it, my heart is broken." makes me tear up every time, so beautifully and convincingly acted. Why on earth did they delete this, it's such an important scene??!

  • What does she say at 1:33? ...something something feel kindness??

  • @venetiancat Jane says, "God bless you and reward you for your kindness."

  • Sorry this scene with Timothy Dalton is more passionate and powerful, besides this guy is too hate to be Edward Rochester.

  • i love this scenes..!!!! i lovee rochester!!! las debieron haber puestooo!!!

  • oh my gosh.... the second one was so sad!!! i loved that they included more diolouge from the book. i love this entire miniseries, but when she makes her decisioin to leave they leave out some of the best parts that really show jane's strength of character. this part was great- so sad though to see mr rochester cry and for once stop trying to kiss her to death. i do wonder-- how the heck did they end up in bed/???? great miniseries!

  • okay, i have to admit, everytime i see the first one i laugh my head off... it's ridiculous!! but the second one... it's like ripping my heart out :(

  • good call on taking the first one out of the final cut.

  • Ok, I didn't like the first one so much, but that second one was so perfect! There were a lot of famous dialogues from the book that this version of Jane Eyre didn't include...and the dialogue in this scene sounded so perfect! They SO should have kept this in. xP

  • What the HELL are they doing in BED?!?

  • If I was Jane, I would travel abroad to the white-washed house, in France, and stay with him!

  • Gosh; I wish they had left this in. It brings "closure" that isn't otherwise there. It makes no sense otherwise; she just "leaves" and we don't know why. I feel that the threw out this part of Jane's strength and personality (and a lot of Bronte dialogue!) and sold out to a hot and steamy soap opera scene instead. They could have done both; they really needed to show Jane absolutely resisting him to his face and saying why! :(

  • thank you. where did you find these?

  • In some countries it was included in the dvd as extras.

  • I forgot to say I bought it in Spain an it was not "the masterpiece theater" dvd.

  • thank you for letting me know - i'll keep my eye out.

for now, thank you for posting. it's fun to see. i'm in the u.s. and i believe the masterpiece theater is what we have here.

  • I would have liked the first scene better if he said anything other than "Jane! Jane! JANE!..." :)

  • I loveth them both! So beautiful and filled with LOVE! I am such a romantic...plus who wouldn't want to be chased by Toby Stephens, I mean come on!

  • Holy Shit! the first was psychotic!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! ^_^

I think the second one goes better with Jane's disposition!

Efxaristw poly gia afto to wraio videaki! Nomizw oti to deftero tairiazei pio kala ston xarakthra ths Jane...

  • Geia sou patriotissa! S' euxaristo ki ego gia ta kala sou logia.

  • i'm so glad they didn't include the first one. But I agree they should have included the second scene instead of the makeout session... It didn't fit.

  • :(

... I liked the makeout session...

  • I loved the first one!

  • Okay ... the first one was , mad .

  • I thought the first one was NUTS. It was almost like a parody if you ask me...or a horror movie with his arm stuck in the door. But the second one....it made me cry. WHY DIDN'T THEY PUT IT IN THE MOVIE?????

  • ok, the first one was a little extreme. but the 2nd one made me cry seeing Mr. Rochester cry. :'(

  • Oh, my God! When she slams the door on him and crushes his arm with the door, I was cracking up. I'm kind of glad that part wasn't included in the final version.

  • kw: I totally understand why they were deleted. The knocking on the door thing was too obvious. And, while Jane really says the "god bless" you stuff in the book, and she says it in the 1983 version and it comes off natural there, it would not have worked at all in 2006. In the 2006, they added a layer of sexuality and took out a layer of the stiff-Victorian god-morality-blah-blah-blah. The words by Jane would not fit in the 2006 version, or in the bed with the two almost lovers.

  • I agree the feelings in the exact way that they are expressed in each of these scenes wouldn't mix very well with each other. There is anger (in the first scene), desire (in the scene finally kept) and determination (in the last scene) shown by Jane but they do not co-exist. Curiously Charlotte Bronte has done a great job fit them all in the book's dialogue.

  • Well, I really love and respect the work done on the 2006 film. And, yes, they made it more of an overtone of the one feeling - desire. But, I will say, the Timothy Dalton version did include all those feelings you mentioned, and all the feelings in the cut scene. And, it did work in that piece.

  • Timothy Dalton in many ways is closer to my idea of Rochester: dark, ironic & irascible. Despite that, he is more theatrical than I would wish at places. But the main reason I am not very font of the 1983 version is the slow dialogues&most of all Zelah Clarke. She lacked the personality&passion&innocence Jane has. Ruth Wilson in my opinion was a really perfect&likable Jane despite being prettier than the character. But so was Dalton & managed it well. I have not found my perfect adaptation yet.

  • Ruth Wilson's Jane did say "God bless you" at 1:32 (right after Rochester begins to cry).... I think it fit perfectly....

  • Why, oh why, were these scenes not included in the final DVD? :(

  • aaaaaah, I can get SO jealous with any loved or loving character in any bbc production.

  • OMG, I own this movie on DVD, but it doesn't include these deleted scenes!!! The 'without you my heart is broken' scene makes me want to cry.

I've watched the two other Jane Eyre movies, but I like this one the best. While it's not the most accurate version compared with the book, I think it's the most poignant. And the actors really bring the story to life.

  • I agree. Their connection to each other is very strong. And I love that the sexual chemistry!

  • Thanks for your reply! Yes, their on-screen chemistry is perfect! There's such a huge difference between reading Jane Eyre (which I love to do) and watching a movie version of it. In the book, you mentally fill in the necessary parts, but on screen, it might seem a bit oppressive to leave out the sensuality - some people might not be able to connect with the characters. Of course, this is just my opinion, and I know not everyone agrees. But different opinions make it more interesting! :)

  • That is true, especially considering the time period the book was written. The writer/director were talking about how important it was to them that Jane and Edward had a sexual connection. Do they ever! lol

  • Definitely! *grin*

  • Oh yes they do :-)

  • im kinda glad they left out the first part-- by the time they show rochester lying her on her bed, people would have been thinking "get the hell away from him". i read some of the book and the second scene is actually in the book, but it would have made the movie drag. i think another reason is was cut is because theyre in jane's room and her windows on the other side of the room. people would get confused if they payed attention

  • no i like the first escene shows the reaction of bouth and she seems lo be suffering really really too much that's a good partt

  • I'm glad they deleted the first one, it's kinda...well...weird.

and the last one is so sad! Poor Mr. Rochester! :'(

  • Thank you so much for posting this clip of deleted scenes. I got a copy of the film for Christmas, but it didn't have these extras at all. I would hate to have the job of editor, to have to leave out scenes like these. The second one, especially, shows Edward on the brink of depression. How will he live without his Jane?

  • "He was born to strive and endure, he as well as she. He should trust in god and himself" says Jane.

Watch the interviews too, if you like.

  • No hace nada. Lo llaman "reader I married him" si quieres verlo.

Besos

Beatiful name!!It will be the white villa on the banks of Rochester's Mediterranean ... in some island of Greece?? Jaja. Fondness friend!! Do not forget to warn me eh?!!! Kisses from Argentina

  • Voy a desgustarte.

Beso amiga!! Laura

  • that was brilliant I've nerver seen that before and I agree they should have kept it in, it shows the other side of Rochester. Can you send me the link to your thread on imbd ?I'd like to read what you've said

  • Sorry for the delay! I had answered the day after you asked me for the thread but now I can't seem to find my response! I don't know why. Anyway I believe it was because you can not sent the adress from here so: 1)you go to imdb, 2)you type Jane Eyre, 3)select the 2006 and 4)in the board, press "more" and search for "moral issues and love scenes" by e_spanou. Have a nice evening!

  • Thanks for sharing it,Ksotikoula !

Great nickname by the way - "wee elf" !

I read Jane Eyre when i was 10 years old and till recently i never found THE Mr Rochester or the face who has to be Jane's. Fortunately enough, Stevens and Wilson portrayed my fav heroes to the perfection. Yet what i still recall about the book -among other things was Rochester's dark desperation while trying to persue Jane NOT to leave.I think they should have keep the deleted scenes, adding one more episode if it must.

  • No problem Margo3883. You know what my nick name means so I assume you are of the same nationality!!! Kalos irthes!!! (in Greeklish). Yes I agree wholeheartly with you and I've started a thread in imdb on the board of Jane eyre 2006 arguing exactly about that in the topic "moral issues and love scenes". I see that you have already found it so I'm going to answer there as well. Kalinuxta!

  • Just a question,Ξωτικούλα !

Where did you found "Jane Eyre" in first place? I mean, it's nowhere to be sold - or at least i haven't found it- and our precious ET 1 channel, has begin to release it so unexpectadly that it was only by pure luck i saw the first episode - in replaying - the day of Journalist's strike. I kept recording on VHR episodes 2& 3, yet i still miss the first one.

  • Well there are sites in internet to download it but it is illegal. Until recently there was the whole film in youtube. I believe someone show it and removed it. However I went on a trip in Spain and bought it there. It was a very good move as it had all interviews, bloopers and deleted scenes which the normal uk edition doesn't have. I would have to buy the masterpiece theater collection (2 films) to get the extras which of course is much more expensive let alone shiping expences :).

  • I found a DVD shop in Panepistimiou, where you can buy dvds imported from UK. It was there where i found my precious "Pride & Prejudice" and "North & South" - well, the Richard Armitage one !!! There are plenty of BBC series as well but- no- Jane Eyre, alas !

A kind friend of mine, promised me to make a copy of the -illegally- downloaded version. Yet there wil be no subtitles, which lessens the joy of watching it!

I'm reading the book nowadays, in a great translation by "Σμίλη" editions.

  • Just sent me through private message your e-mail here or in imdb and I will sent you my subtitles. If the downloaded version is that I have also seen you will have translated even the previous episode's summary. If not then you will just skip it. I suppose you line in Athens then:) Have you also read Villette?

  • Thanks for the translation!

  • Thank you very much!! but please,I´m Spanish and not speak english very well so, can anybody write what they say in the two scenes???

  • Disculpe mis errores no soy espanol. El dialogo es mas o menos asi:

R: No seria malo amarme Jane. No tienes familia para que se offenda. Ninguno que te juzgara.

J: Yo juzgaria a mi mismo.

R: Que voy a hacer Jane, si me dejas?

    ...to be continued...

  • Excuse me again...

Is there a possibility for a Greek translation of these deleted scenes???

    plzzzzz ksotikoula...

    sincerely, your No1 fan!!!

ps: You should also do something for your Chinese friends, let alone those in the north-American indian tribe Quapaw.

  • I have many times proposed to you to see my Greek translation of the film but you say you didn't like the book much, let alone see it in a film. I believe you are jealous of Toby and you continue to make fun of my love for this particular book just to annoy me. You won't succeed, however, and for your information there are other people out there who really like this book no matter what you say.

  • how can i be jealous of Toby, while i haven't watched the movie?

I said that it is a love story, a kind that doesn't appeal much to me.

In the book Mr. Rochester is an ugly man and Jane gets in love with him in real, not like Blanche(not sure about the name) who does anything she can in order to marry him for his money. In the movie where Mr. Rochester is incarnated by this handsome actor "Toby", i don't think that this antithesis is visible.

I'll watch it with your translation, as i promised

  • i think they should have kept a scene like the second one...important part of the book, this line of the broken heart of rochester!this would have shown the incredible sufferings and passion that you can feel reading the book!

  • i'm glad that they cut the first one!

but the second one is good but would have made it too hard for the viewer to forgive her leaving him

  • The lines here are taken from the book. They really have a strong confrontation filled with passion and agressiveness as well. He can't lose her and is yelling to her and she keeps a passive-agressive attitude like "do what you must, this is how things are and we have to bear it". Some reviewers tend to think she IS very hard towards him but, as in the book you find yourself identifying with Jane and you get to see the suffering she is feeling for having to do this, you totally forgive her.

  • You spoke like an expert...

Although i agree, even if i weren't, your English and the way you express your opinion makes me want to agree with you.

  • yessss!!!!i perfectly agree with you!she is not hard, she suffers as much as he does!!heartbreaking for both of them...but you see, the line that breaks my heart is "we were born to strive and endure, you as well as i!do so..." and you see she's determined to leave him, even though she knows she'll be heartbroken!glad to meet another fond, by the way!another "not english"fond i should say!

  • I posted this video due to an argument we were having in an imdb board of Jane Eyre 2006. I have introduced a topic:"moral issues and love scenes "where I say that the love scenes didn't do justice to the moral dilemma, didn't show Jane's strenght and worse of all made Mr Rochester seem a liar proposing living as brother and sister. Someone mentioned the deleted scene which many hadn't seen. You can read the topic there if you are interested. I would like to hear your opinion.

  • By the way what do you mean by "another not english fond"? Nationality?

  • yes!i'm french!

  • I'm Greek by the way. Yes, Charlotte's art seems to be universal. Have you read "vilette" too?

  • this is why i said non english:D yes i read villette. mr heger's shadow is in that, isn"t it?

  • Yes and he's part of Rochester too. I'm trying to find Charlotte-Heger letters on internet but so far I haven't find anything. I don't know yet, if I like the guy from the way he treated her. Of course he was married but he could explain himself instead of letting her wait for letters that never came. Perhaps he did and we don't know. His letters were not found. I like to think Charlotte buried them as Lucy did with Graham's. Wait till the fans read this. There'll be no tree standing in Howarth.

  • yes he is!!for cigar smoking, for example(do you see what i mean?)oh if you find them plizz let me know!!!poor charlotte!this is heartbreaking to imagine how much she loved him, and suffered because of him...

  • Yes, the cigar and the abrupt changing manners. I've read the letters in "The letters of Charlotte Bronte: with a selection of letters by family and friends" when in university. But they didn't allow me to photocopy them. I tried to buy it but there are 3 volumes 150 euros each! Fortunatelly, I found from the same writer the "Selected letters of Charlotte Bronte". It costs 20 euros and today I read that it contains all four of them. Part of the letters I have. But how can I sent it to you?

  • You can scan it and send it.

    Sometimes you speak like Yoda.

  • (Having just finished Villette yesterday.)

I couldn't agree more with your supposition that Charlotte interred Heger's letters just as Miss Snowe had done in "Villette." It makes sense, since "V" is so very autobiographic. More tantalizing is this hope: such a carefully sealed interment means that these letters may one day be found! Note the great amount of arcane detail for the letter "embalming" in "V." Surely Charlotte saw such a process in person. Oh, what a find would will that be!

  • @JustMeandOnlyMe

When Mrs Gaskell talked to Heger after CB's death,he revealed to her Charlotte's feelings for him & told her to read his letters to CB (probably to show that they were not written from a lover's perspective). He was certain of their existence because "it wouldn't be in her character to destroy them".I agree that her description of the burial&embalming is too thorough, but I don't know when it was if she did it. Ellen mentioned that she sorted out her letters before her marriage.

  • Although we don't care about your opinion, you are right...

Basically the chick was ugly grilled to sit on Mr. Rochester, but she showed character.

Too bad for Mr. Rochester, cause he was already making plans for the night!!!!

    :p

    Happy Birthday, my precious!!!!!!

ps: i love youR english, sooo formal.

  • I think they would do better following the original story of the novel with the same passion they have demonstrate through the whole film. For me the strenght Jane show in the novel denying him is much more intense than any love scene. Charlotte knew what she was doing when she escalated the sexual tension with the mere fact of abstinence from the most desired object.

  • completely agree again...almost scary.

  • Thank god they weren't included!!!

    :p

When i watch the mini-series, i'll tell you if i am right!

  • Thank you.

  • No problem. I was confused with those scenes however. Seems like they had different perspective when they shooted them because they don't seem to make sense with those that they finally included. Jane's angry in the first scene shutting him outside, then she accepts him in her room and lets him kiss her so (in the scenes they chose to keep). Finally we see the following scene (which I didn't like much mostly because it was a lot less passionate)where they just talk borrowing lines from the book.
