But they're so nicely playing The (New) Great Game....'s so much fun (and profitable!!)...for filthy rich, sociopathic bastards..and their armada of yay-sayers...!
Once they lay the pipeline to the Caspian sea and build bases to protect it, then they will pull out. If Hannity or Oriely ever asks "you do want the US to WIN in Afghanistan, don't you?", you now know what the hidden condition of "winning" is.
Nation building was never the objective of the invasion. It wasn't suggested until later. If we leave we will just have to go back and pay a higher price.
Clearly Obama remembers the lesson learned from Vietnam.
In this case " ... that a significant U.S. troop increase would only prop up a weak, corruption-tainted government."
Obama has to be careful now.
The last President that failed to follow orders was Kennedy, and they repaid him for his subordination by blowing out the back of his head in Dallas in 1963.
When I voted for Obama, I expected nothing.
If he intends to pull out of Afghanistan, my view of him may very well change.
the us is "fighting for karzai" because it needs stability in afghanistan/pakistan. i don't think that us troops are about to withdraw because if they do how does the us prevent the emergence of radical regimes in af/pak? this is all just threats. karzai on the other hand, can't change his manner of doing business lest he lose his base, drug lords. so something else is going on. my guess would be that karzai will be leaving soon replaced by the us choice.
is it that hard to fight a war with civilians involved?

But if the US troops pull out the price of heroin will hit the roof.
Better keep the troops there so our children can always get a cheap hit of H.
Gold Price - quadrupled in less than a decade, how is the the US government paying for the debacle ?
Counterfeiting money, destroying their country on purpose.
"Common Purpose" - Subversion
Its the end of civilization on a global scale ie Roman Empire implosion

Well, the Kennedy thing, I think we can agree, most likely had more to do with the Bay of Pigs, than Vietnam.
Don't piss off the spooks.
