the RAM has info from the computer and takes it to the CPU and vice versa. If the ram goes bad, it'll completely halt your computer. It's like snapping someone's spine.
I haven't had a single other problem with this iMac except for this bad stick of RAM I purchased from Crucial. It's been working perfectly ever since.
@adammelancon Hey i just install 8g ram on my imac. i heard the same noise but just a second doesn't it mean i have a bad ram too? ( my imac running fine)
restarted and problem solved.. this was probably one of the the worst crash the mac would have.. but go ahead.. buy a crashtest machine from acer, hp or asus if you want.. i dont blame you.. :p
LMFAO how much did this peice of SHITE cost you? OH can you plug in an external monitor? Can you upgrade your DVD drive? What if you want a Blue Ray Drive? What about upgrading your RAM? Can You make your screen bigger? LMFAO MACS = SCAM
@EmoticonMayhem Yeah but at what cost? And how the fuck do you plug in an external monitor when all the fucking thing is a monitor Brainwashed Mac Boy. Keep paying duble the price for SHIT.
JHey did you hear the new Need for Speed is out? Guess you cant play that on a Mac can you? LMAO. Cant even upgrade the video card to play LMAO. Soooo funny
@mozzmanau There is a Mini DVI port on the back on the older ones and a Mini Display port on the newer ones for plugging in an external monitor and if you get a Mac Pro then you are able to upgrade the graphics card in it and if you need to run windows software THAT desperately you can use boot camp to dual boot windows and mac os. In fact, the only thing you can't do with a Mac (if you have a Mac Pro) is use cross fire or sli but all the other upgrades you would usually do are possible.
@EmoticonMayhem OMFG so out of ALL the Mac desktops how many of the models can you upgrade the video card and RAM EASILY. Remember the word EASILY. And i want %'s Im betting its prob 2% LMAO
That is a defective Hard Drive. Not RAM, because RAM doesn't have a mother fucking sound. It is a cable hitting a fan or the HDD dying. And to almann1117, you are not funny, and apparently don't know shit about computers. Mac's suck. PC's suck. I own a PC because PowerPC Linux blows.
Your RAM holds EVERY piece of data that's been processed. (All of your open applications sit in RAM.) If your RAM is messed up, it will tend to send wrong values to the processor (Not giving the same numbers it was suppose to be holding.) You can guess what happens next. The computer starts acting really weird. You wouldn't think it's the ram, but it is. RAM works directly with the processor. ^_^
this is how my mothers laptop died :O : it froze you couldent change the volume and after restarting it wouldent get to your screen anymore it was just completely down
yeah, when you start it up next time, it will catch the mistake, then click the repair files button, then for the last step, after the Imac has finished loading delete your video files,
My Imac was freezing when i touched the mouse there is nothing I could do and it not freeze. When I restart it goes to a grey screen, sometimes a question sign comes up other times a circle with a line through it. It froze when I tried to reinstall now I have a white screen. so annoying.
sounds like it was in pain... "my processor! IT BURNS!!! AAA--- HERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"
@skittleschocolate I feel like going to the apple store and telling everyone not to buy one...mine ended up costing over 1700 with the printer. IT froze more than any pc ever has and when it freezes dont think a restart will fix it. right now i cant even reinstall the OS, it froze during a reinstall and would not start again. I seriously hate macs now, they cost too much and they crash worst than PCs

Why does the defective ram do that? Is it the ram stick itself that makes the noise or does it somehow tell the sound card to make the noise?
