I'm with the Celtics and all my big players(Garnett, Pierce, Allen) are complaining about how many minutes they have on the court. I've put each starter at 40 minutes each, but their still unhappy. What should I do?
Thank you for this video, my D improved considerably because I now know how to DT on the fly. I usually try and lock on superstar players like Kobe and Gasol and they usually make the shot when I contest but now with on the fly DT it forces them to switch play and I can roate and contest easier. I won a game by 20 points on Superstar because of this. Thank you.
Great vids .I have found that when you rotate to the open man you should never go for the steal. I think its better to deny the player . Most of the time when you go for the steal ,the player will reach the opposite of thepass .Either low when the pass comes high or high when the pass comes low. This miss steal will also open the lane for a dribble drive. its hard to do but works.
If that works for you then great. But going for the steal, during the 1st rotation, works. It's just about positioning. If you're positioned wrong, then the pass will get by you. Position the defender in the Passing Lane of the offensive player and a steal should be made. Even if you deny the player, the steal is now easier to make because of the steal "animation" that comes up during denial defense.
Make sure that you've initiated LockOnD when guarding the person you want to double. Then hit the LB-Button to intiate the double and use Icon Switching to Rotate.
After you create a player, put him on a team, then start an Association. He should be on the team that you put him on after you start Association mode.
I love the vids Zihin. They have helped me be way better since 2k8. But, what about Lebron Semi Ungaurdable James. Every time i double team his he easily splits thru the double team for a dunk. How do you prevent the split
If the offensive player's attributes are good enough & he counters your trap with the proper move, then there's not much you can do [at that point]. But those are less than a handful of players on the game. However, during your rotation, you can "re-trap" him before a pass attempt gets off. With this you MUST continue to rotate using Icon Switching to not get caught at a big disadvantage.
I'm having alot of trouble against cheesers. Kevin Garnett had 44 points on me in 19 minutes last game. I tried to double team him, but it didn't come fast enough. Any suggestions?
I use several team when playing a human opponent. Mostly the Blazers, Suns, Pistons, Magic, etc. Sometimes it depends on what team the opponent picks because different teams give me different matchups.
I just wanna know who to stop teams that are high octane and addicted to fast breaks and alleys. Because it gets annoying that a team does 6 Alleys on me. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO STOP THIS!!!!
A couple of bigs ways to stop high octane offenses is to.....
1) Execute good offenses and score. It's hard to run a fast break when the opponent is taking the ball out of bounds.
2) Get back on defense and dont crash boards much. Try to have a consistant advantage on transition defense. Make sure to get back and have more defenders than they have offensive players. This way you can even trap and rotate during transition defense. Just a quick example.
another quick steal i usually get against the com starts when i finish a bucket. pressure the pg, and force the pass to another player..play off ball defense on the pg as the other player brings the ball up. once the ball crosses half court, the other player almost always passes it to the pg immediately..simply anticipate, step in and you get a breakaway dunk/layup.
in situations like the one in 8:30, i find it effective sometimes to use a weakside double team..in this case it would be jamario coming over to gasol, and then have haslem switch over and by that time hopefully the offense would have to reset..you played it well though. nice tut, ive actually been doing this for a while.
The Defensive Awareness slider (for the user, me) is at default. Besides, it would have nothing to do with the Rotations because I'm the one doing all of the USER Doubles & Rotations. I play OnBall Defense and then initiate the Double (User), use Icon Switching to cover all Rotations (User), then steal/contest/rebound after Rotation (User). All USER defense. Making USER decisions have nothing to do with the Defensive Awareness slider.
Practice, Practice & more Practice. Also, it helps having some basketball knowledge (no matter how much). Using real-life strats and tactics is very successful in the NBA 2K series.

Hey Zihin,
Is it me or the double team button or intentional foul button doesn't always work when you really need it?
ARom101 2 years ago
I've never had a problem with it not working. The intentional foul animation does have a slight lag but the double-team doesnt.

Refer to 0:38 in vid. LB-Button (360) or L1 (PS3)

Thanks, I missed that. Like you said, double team really helps for these cheesers using star-players all day.

Do you have any tips to stop the dribble drive because people seem to get in the paint and get lay ups on me all the time.

Refer back to the NBA 2K8 video tutorials covering LockOnD.

I cant figure out how to steal the ball when someone is on the fastbreak and going up for a easy jam..
I played someone online and they stopped me everytime I went up for a open dunk.
