Also, I was also taught that you tighten your core when you strike so that if you take an unexpected blow to the body you don't get the wind knocked out of you.
I think its important to spar like this to practice technique but you also need to go hard, the first time I fought a smoker I had never experienced anything like actual FIGHTING and therefor gassed out very badly in the first round
First off, thank you for watching the video. Full contact sparring is an important part of training, however, you have to spar SMART. Spar with supervision so a third party can control the action, speed, and how hard you are going. You were watching an instructor and student spar. I would suggest sparring at least three time a week. Again, very controlled watching the action, speed, and how hard you go. The bottom line is train smart
hi i have a question i am a proponent of full contact sparring but full contact sparring isnt exactly too healthy n cant really be sustained for a long peiod of time so i wana know how often u guys spar full contact n wat is a healthy amount of time that should be done in full contact also if u spar semi contact wouldnt that just build bad habits n u end up not being use to hitting the opponent with full force
@SoundwaveSuperior373 I'm no expert and I don't mean to intrude on your question, but maybe I could help you out . Where I train we go semi/full contact with kickboxing and/or mma rules which lasts for an hour. We don't use headguards, but its more about respect. If you hit your partner as hard as you can, well expect the same back. Some of the seriously good guys spar 3 times a week there, as long as you take care of yourself and any injuries you could probably achieve that.
@SoundwaveSuperior373 I'd also say in my opinion, light sparring or touch contact is good for building technique and getting you offense and defence correct. However, I'd probably say in my experience heavier sparring teaches you to take your time and be a little more cautious and precise with your strikes and attacks because if your confident in a headguard with 16oz gloves and your used to an opponent going easy on you, I'd say your more likely to walk in chin first when you change to full.
this is good sparring. 50% is where it should be kept if you're training to learn and stay in shape, or if you're in between fights. 4-5 weeks before a fight, fighters usually have to pick it up to that 100% sparring, cause it's the type of fighting they'll be experiencing in the octangon with their opponent trying to knock their head off, or tie them in a knot. Keep up the good work!
@RaPLipS There isnt actually a lot known about the causes of a knockout. It is a largely believed that it is due to trauma on the brain and stem due to a large impact to the head. But other factors come into it aswell. Dehydration of the brain for instance which will shrink the brain. Neck muscles etc etc etc
Most sparrings in most martial arts are usually 70 percent power and 30 percent technique in my point of view. When you think about it... it's kinda true.
@RaPLipS That stupid you should spar with headgear on, your sparring to get you ready for a fight so why would spar without headgear and take the risk of getting knocked out before a fight.
@mm4junkie exactly broo just sparred now we spar like retards with 4oz mma gloves no protectvive gear and this heavyweight guys on roids go al crazy one of trhem punched me in my jaw really hard i was like wtf man u said we will go 50% so i jabbed him in his nose and cut it and then he said to me i thought we going 50% i said im going same as u going anyway its pretty retarded to sparr with no protective gear and 4oz gloves who the fuck does that????
@missionkid exaclty man , i mean if your gonna spar to the fullest then obviously use your mma sparring gloves 6,8oz? i dunno but whatever , if your going to use that gloves then it'll encourage you more to put your hands up defence is as important as offence! but then you emphasise on the wrestling an grappling with light strikes on the ground and but high intensity that means like and constant pressure with your partner going forward at you, you get these bruisers who are trying to prove sutin
@mm4junkie If you have better head gear than what they do you can use much more force without causing any serious injuries. It depends what you're training for as well, if you're just training for fun or amateur mma this would be fine, but if you're say Brock Lesnar or Anderson Silva, or pretty much anyone in UFC, of course you're going to train with more intensity and force than in this.
@ApeShallNevaKillApe yeaah but like if your gonna go balls out and swing to literally take your partners head off then its not productive or useful for both , if your gonna hit like crazy you might aswell go hit the bag or mitts, spar hard enough that u can get good feel but not hard enough that he wont have a chance to fire back cos hes that fucked or your just dominating him and balls up (again not productive, so give and take
@Notagayusername10 well thats up to the person on how much of a cock he is and checking if he left his ego at in the changing room..as you see in the video they both left their egos at home.. My coach does not tolerate people with egos they will simply tell them to leave the class if anyone is just their to simply hurt someone.
@LILYAYO911 not to be rude but the average "mixed martial artist" cant tell a side kick from a roundhouse. the owners of these gyms just fill u to the brim with this stupid crap and u really don't get to focus on one thing so u can better urself. so overall, ur mediocre at a whole bunch of things instead of really good at a few things and these guys get rich off all the UFC hype
Nice controlled sparring but still going hard! Great job. To the littler dude, I would say work on your movement. You're moving straight back too much and when you do circle you are circling towards his power hand a lot. He comes in with a Superman like that side step it to your left and then make him eat leather. The weakness of the Superman is that you have to overcommit to the punch and you're really open for a counter strike. Anytime I see som1 loading up the Superman I make pay.
@aswtx75 well it is southpaw vs regular so south paw cant go left because the regular stance is moving right and vice versa. So either way they would be walking right into eachothers punches. But your right moving back wasnt such a good idea.
Another misleading thread title...this is clearly kickboxing or the kickboxing element of your MMA training. Having said that, this is one of the better video's out there....everyone else seems to have videos of guys wrestling or doing JKD, you guys are actually sparring! Thanks!
