  • gotta have some gm/ford parts to hang with us

  • @gmpushrodpower true, but Stock body IRS Sup's are now in the mid 6/s though running stock 6 speeds :) Ebrahim Kanoo just set a new record

  • A better combo in theory would be using a A727 torqueflite transmission. Lighter weight internals and is just as strong. If you get one out of an old mail Jeep they have a GM bolt pattern ;)

  • how would u fit that tranny in that car?

  • @32middlelinebacker Its a drag car so its faster, and when built properly they're stronger than any OEM box.

  • @saintluke87 lol, that dosnt answer my question lol...

  • @32middlelinebacker reading comprehension ftw... my bad lol. i read why would you hehe. Anyway they bolt up with a supra bellhousing to suit the TH, tailshaft, mounts, shifter etc etc.. You'd be better off pricing up a complete conversion kit if you were looking into it

  • @saintluke87 oh shit thats pretty cool, like an adaptor plate and belhousing and whatnot right? haha nah i tend to hold out for home grown when it comes to my rides, but a th400 is a bulky tranny did they have to make the tranny hump bigger?

  • @Bondangoed Hey mate

Love the supra with the th400 trans,

    Just a couple of qustions,

How does she drive at about 70mph and how many rpm will it sit at?

Also what diff ration are you running with it?

    Cheers

  • yea buddy the old turbo 400 indestructable

  • @Tylerssuperbee Exactly... Then you see a Mustang with full road suspension and a watts link and it can kill a WRX in the canyons.

  • Psy, there's quite a few Supra guys out there who set their cars up for road course. And they really aren't all that heavy by comparison. They weigh close to an ls1 powered f-body.

But I do understand your point. Personally, I'd prefer the vette as a cornering car myself due to the platform being very ideal for it. But the Supra can be made quick in the turns.

  • Right, don't get me wrong I'd take a Supra in a heartbeat (actually I would enjoy a 3000GT mostly for the body style) but to mention it and cornering ability in the same sentence is absurd. They weigh much more than most big block muscle cars did back in the day and that's saying something.

It just seems to me like virtually everyone who talks up Supra's ability to waste US cars in the corners... has yet to actually do it. Even the video poster is going in a straight line.

  • auto boxs are for wankers that cant fuckin drive

  • I would love a bump shift auto without a clutch, the 6 speed getdrag is the best manual the th400 isthe best auto

  • Even imports are using the good ol' GM TH400 :)

  • That thing sounds beast!

  • Hi, so i thought the TH400 is an Automatic tranny? why is he shifting?

Im a noob, please answer thanks! lol.

  • @HoneyMuff1n It is an auto, but it has a manual valve body. i.e. its an auto you have to manually shift. No clutch pedal or anything, just move the lever lol

  • @xAcidosisx

    Best of both worlds!

  • i dont understand like the TH400 fits on to a 2jz eazy or not because am confuse or do you have to make so changes in order to fit it in

  • @CrazyAsianMan18 Do not try to understand it.Stick with the real thing for the Supra.I have seen a few of these Redneck setup for Japanese sport car.If you take your modified Redneck shifter to an Event people are going to laugh at you.

  • @211Alucard how is this a redneck shifter. please explain to me because most 10 sec street/strip cars can built autos including mine and they blow the doors off 6 speeds

  • @MiKePaRkEr235 I agree, This Supra is a racecar. They use auto because its consistent. Means you can run the same time, the same time.

  • @211Alucard The only car a supra is scared of is an automatic supra

  • runnning down mere mere drag strip in new zealand i assume

  • thatw as no exact 10sec pas it was more likea 10.100-10.350 pass if u notice t 57 sec he was stil in it jusa lilk while but very nice love it

  • That was boss man.

  • I didnt' imagined that conventional atuomatics transmissions with torque converters were mounted even on japanese cars that usually have very low torque at low RPM...

is the proof that american machinery may be "less advanced" but is more reliable than anything else on the market...

  • that may be so , but i think they opted for the auto tranny to keep the boost up when switching gears, imo.

  • Firstly a 2JZ with a Trust T88 hits boost hard at 5000 rpm so hardly a 'low torque' engine.

Secondly, 'american machinery' and 'reliable' should NEVER be in the same sentence.. honestly, not starting a shit fight but come on. Compare to German and Japanese... who has most reliable engineering.. not america my friend!

  • I said the same thing.. read again what I wrote (veri low torque at low RPM = no low end torque/high revving engine)

Second, the TH400 tranny is an "old school" mechanical piece of american engineering, you can still see 70/80's american cars with 200.000 miles working great..

in europe with a bmw or an audi you hardly hit 100.000 miles without having to replace something..

p.s. and sadly I say that because I have 2 german cars in the family.. expensive and unreliable in the long run..

  • @Senninha1960 You say this because you daily drive all three? Right. Well, while you're having fun in your 'reliable' POS Jap and German cars, us Americans will politely hit our left turn signal, smoothly merge into the left hand lane, and put the pedal through the floorboard, and let you know what a REAL car is.

  • @7Dakota23Boy92

I have owned German, Jap, American and Italian cars so my opinion means more than your biased American opinion. And there is no argument when it comes to American buckets of shit vs other manufacturers of the world in regards to quality, reliability, refinement, performance and reputation.

Your foot would not go through the floor board if you owned one of the non American brands champ :D

Merging smoothly is the only option so you dont flip the car due to excessive body roll

  • @Senninha1960~ why do bother argueing with these Peanut-brained inbreds??

  • @marek0086 They amuse me with the shit that comes out of their mouths, gives me a good laugh! This one was a class act too

  • fcuk that was fast

  • That was approx. a 10 sec 1/4 mile pass. He launches at 0:47 and gets to the timeboard at 0:57 ,. nice run :D

  • I'm wondering how the TH400 conversion is for daily driving too. How bad is gas mileage affected and is the power always there when you need it?

  • farkk what did he do at the begining to make it launch like that. did he have the hand brake up or somting reved it den droped it or what?awsome stuff

  • he was doing a burnout

  • Called a transbrake

  • is that the same as brake boosting?

  • No. Brake boosting you hold the gas and the brake. Trans brake is a solenoid on the tranny. When engaged it puts the trans in both low gear and reverse so the car doesnt roll. It allows you to rev the car up to whatever RPM you launch at. When released it takes it out of reverse and you are already in low gear. Just dont sit at the line too long. Good way to burn up trannys.

  • cheers mate, nice informative comment.

  • how did you get the ratchet shifter to shift downward to shift up? all the other videos with that shifter shows people pushing upward to go up a gear.

  • he has a reverse manual valvebody

  • hows the th400 for daily driving?

  • Damn I love too put that tranny in my supra. Men it amazing

  • would you happen to know how many kw/hp a 2jz can produce without opening it up??

    thanks mate

  • thers a a few supras with over 800 rwhp with out having to spend HUGE bucks on internals

  • thanks bro

  • how much do u think it would cost?

  • it can cost a lot of money for the head and all that for a titan motorsports stage 3 head its like over 5g and a stroker kit is up there to

  • nono, wrong, it depends of the use, Peter Blach of T04R site made 958hp SAE on stock internals, but it just wont last obviously, but 600hp on stock internals for race track (not drag strip) use is guaranteed safe.

  • Amen to toyota running forever....almost ;D

  • how many seconds in the quater?

  • Where i come from we dont have american cars (except fro the chrysler voyager - but they fitted that with a euro engine) which is a good thing, at least jap scrap can go round corners :)

  • DAMN shit is quick

  • @Bondangoed there are american cars that corner a lot better than supra's

  • @savagexhaley14

Agreed, I thought it was pretty well known that Supras are atrocious handlers, all things considered. Most decent ones see use at, quite ironically, drag strips... Just look on the damn right, nobody is winning track circuits with them, they're drag racing them.

As for the anti-American crowd, I couldn't care less. More for me.

  • @Psychlonic i like cars of all types, including supras, but ya, theyre pretty heavy cars, a TT MKIV weighs almost 4000lbs stock.

  • @savagexhaley14

4000 Ibs stock??? Are u joking? LOL Fully stock Toyota Supra MK4 TwinTurbo (including all liquids, fuel max) AND average driver weights 1675 kilograms or 3685 Ibs. That weight is confirmed by many Supra owners at Supra forum. Still it's heavy, but for car from 1994 very good, compared to more heavier Mitsu 3000GT, Skyline GTR R34, Nissan 300ZX. Only lighter car is NSX (much lighter).

  • @Bondangoed Both of you are idiots for bashing on Jap cars and muscle cars. Old muscle cars handled great for their time and their size. Newer muscle cars handle almost as well as import sports car. They're not comfy though...

Japanese cars can be so fast that'd drop your jaw on the floor. Of course muscle cars are faster for drag racing but that doesn't mean Jap cars are crap.

  • @wildbloodydragon ...Its all Good - its just the long running debate of import vs domestic, everyone is allowed an opinion ;)

  • Leeroy the redneck

  • so every metal square with 8 holes is considerd ''muscle'' u ugly idiot, muslce was a term used for cars in 60s. a corvette isnt a muscle car. u can tell that term was made for redneck meat heads that beat their wives with dale ernherard memorabilia

  • @v8leeroy american muscle is a dying breed. the only fair muscle car is the new corvette thats it. and there are bad ass imports that play with domestic like toys and vise versa. it depends on how you build ur project.

  • what shift kit is in the trans? seemed like it took a little while to shift?

  • b&M

  • yeah i agree

  • hi bondangoed. may i know is it easy to install the TH400 ? i`m scare none of the mechanic at my state dont know how to install it. pls answer ^^ thx

  • you can get the kit from powerhouse racing

  • super easy to install

  • damn

  • i was thinking of a th400 trans on a 2jz. what modifications need to be done?

  • Powerhouse Racing in the states sell the conversion kit @)

  • thanks a million, great ride btw

  • oh my holy.. Really nice dude!=)

  • Nice. I'm still deciding wether to go the Th400 or "try" to make a built Toyo trans last :D

  • 3 speed non overdrive version - just for 1/4 hacks

  • is that a 3 speed or is that the only gear u could get up to?

  • so do those BM auto shifters fit all cars?

  • them make 'em for most auto's

  • Thats the type of vid that makes me proud to own a supra!
