very well played. He concentrated unbelivably well even in his 40s and achieved 147 in world championship. 6x masters, 7x world champion, many times premier league party poker...incredible stuff. Ronnie O' Sullivan has same talent in break building, but he plays faster. Both are high quality.
i have played at pontins the venue they hold the qualifiers for all the events on the pro tour - take my word for it these balls would never have dropped this (this was the same year were the record for most century breaks in a single tournament was smashed no wonder!)

Beeing the "BEST" is not the same with beeing the most "SUCCESFULL" .
Look at Formula 1 . Schumacher is the most succesfull, but Ayrton Senna was voted the best driver ever by other racing drivers who know the sport better than anybody.
The pockets were a little bit larger in the 80's and 90's and they had a different shape that made potting easier, especially when it came to potting balls near the cushions.
As for Hendry having the most centuries , he has been playing 7 years longer than Ronnie. If Hendry stops playing now and Ronnie plays for another 7 years he will have more century breaks.
When comparing players you use averages , not totals .
Hendry is like the Pele , the Beethoven of snooker, while Ronnie is the Maradona, the Mozart of snooker.

the best snooker player of all time.
hendrys ability and class are undoubted but he also has something that every top class sportsman and champion has- BOTTLE.
roger federer, tiger woods, phil taylor, to name but a few all are the top sportsmen in their field but when the pressure is really on these guys thrive on it and deliver the goods. hendry is in this mould.
he has bottle and that never say die attitude. i think it is that trait that seperates the good sportsmen from the great ones

because the guy is way past his best. like every sports person they reach their peak and then they go into decline.
my comment was about hendry in his prime. hendry at his best would be the top guy in the current game. the guy was different class in his day

i agree with you that the facts speak for themselves. hendry is a shadow of his former self. it happens with all top sportsmen. for example jack nickalaus played golf for years after he had peaked.
my point was that hendry was brilliant ON HIS DAY and he had fantastic ability to perform under maximum pressure.

what a fcking idiot you are mate xD the man has 41 ffs... his numbers speak for him, over 700 century breaks, the pockets had the same size in the 90's i guess, so the game wasn't easier back then, try to watch some of his matches from the 90's and show me a player from nowaday as good as he used to be. If hendry played nowaday what he used to play he'd beat any top 16 player day after day. He isn't winning anything cuz he's not in shape anymore, not cuz others are getting better.... idiot

Ronnie is the best ever.
Hendry is only the most succesful.
Beeing the "BEST" is not the same with beeing the most "SUCCESFULL" .
Look at Formula 1 . Schumacher is the most succesfull, but Ayrton Senna was voted the best driver ever by other racing drivers who know the sport better than anybody.
The pockets were a little bit larger in the 80's and 90's and they had a different shape that made potting easier, especially when it came to potting balls near the cushions.

As for Hendry having the most centuries , he has been playing 7 years longer than Ronnie. If Hendry stops playing now and Ronnie plays for another 7 years he will have more century breaks.
When comparing players you use averages , not totals .
Hendry is like the Pele , the Beethoven of snooker, while Ronnie is the Maradona, the Mozart of snooker.
It's a joy to watch Ronnie play, you get mesmerized.
When u see Hendry , u get bored .
Hendry is not better, he simply is more OBSESSED with winning.

@smmmw147 yes and only 21 in 1996. It took Hendry 5 years to become world champion. By the time Higgins, O'Sullivan and Williams turned peak, hendry had already won 17 of his 18 majors, and no coincidence he only won 1 more major after 1996.

Stephen Hendry is the most consistent player ever, he has been in the top 16 I think now for 22 seasons, World Champion 7 times in the 90's, he has won 72 titles - 36 ranking 36 non-ranking and has made over 700 centuries. He is also the record holder for the most telivised maximums, (8).

he is not. and he is a joke now, hasn't won a ranking title since 2005 and 10th on the rankings list. this proves that he was only the best in a decade where there was mediocre competition. he just can't cut it now, with all the new players with technical capabilities matching his.
