Weird how I see so much hate on these guys...makes my old ass remember the early 80's and the roots of this unwieldy beast we call thrash (and a million other unnecessary adjectives) metal. This bong's for you...
Google 'there is no such thing as punk metal', you'll see exactly what I mean. you guys are making a mistake very common with younger Metalheads, one that I admit I made a couple years back. But I'm telling you, Punk Metal isn't a genre, it's an umbrella term used to describe all Metal/Punk blended bands. It's like saying 'Milk' when you mean Ice Cream, or Yoghurt.
A label does matter, if you'll excuse my rudeness. It helps you figure out what that sound is you're getting, and helps you find more of it. For instance, I have literally thousands of Metal CDs and LPs laying around, and the only way I can determine what kind of sonic experience I'm in for is the little custom label I made showing the band name, the year and the genre. Labeling a genre is essential to streamlining your musical experience.

I'm a christian but I listen to a lot of metal. I even listen to Toxic Holocaust myself.
I love their music.
Everyone has an opinion. Anyone can believe in whatever they want. I never judge a person on their beliefs. Everyone has a right to believe what they want. it'll be cool if we could all get along.
Anyway Toxic Holocaust is awesome and so are many other bands.
@VicRattlehead79 cool, you can be christian and like metal. it would only be wierd if you liked black metal and antichristian based death metal. but then again you might not know what real metal is, this is more punk metal and not actually that heavy. try some earlier nile or some immolation. but we can't all get along because basic human nature is to go to war with itself, and religion only fuels it more. it may preach peace, but it tries to crush all who oppose it.
Punk metal? That doesn't sound right. This sounds more like a Thrash Throwback/Crossover Thrash band. And religion is good to have, it keeps people believing in something- and that's important. It's not religion that advocates war, it's those who glean a corrupted meaning from it. I may be irreligious, but it annoys me to read comments like that. They're really ignorant. No offense.
@raydrt it does have thrash elements, but you realize that thrash is based off of old school punk right? however i didn't say that it was bad to worship or that belief is bad. i personally already came to the conclusions you are trying to impose, i see how you got what you did from it but you mistook my meaning. religion fuels war because man came up with religion, man craves power, if one man has more power, the other will try to take it, same goes for religion.
Yeah, but you said 'punk metal', which not only doesn't exist, (Under that moniker, at least) but wouldn't sound like this.
Hey, your last line there seemed to imply you were against it, so I did. To tell the truth, I'm not even annoyed any more, and politely request we don't debate religion, seeing as how... well, you know; it's subjective as heck. And I also wish to commend your attitude, which was calm despite my out of left-field rant.
@raydrt Sorry, but punk metal actually DOES exist, just with different names (for each punk + metal subgenre). In the case of thrash, Trash+Punk is Crossover. The term 'punk metal' has already been used loosly in a few popular megazines, so it does exist.
No, it doesn't. Metalcore does, and it's inherant subgenres too, but there is no such thing as Punk Metal. You can maybe say it as an umbrella term, but there is no genre known as Punk Metal, despite anything Wikipedia says. You are definitely thinking of Metalcore, man. Any self-respecting metalhead knows there is no such thing as Punk Metal- it's a fact!
@raydrt I think of toxic holocaust as metalcore.. To me, metalcore has always meant " Hardcore punk with thrash metal," which describes this great. I definately hear some discharge influence in this. In a way,, metalcore is a shorter way of saying hardcore punk metal.
See, what you're saying makes more sense. All I'm saying is that Punk Metal as a genre is nonexistant; Metalcore is the correct term.And you're right, these guys aren't very thrashy at all.
By the way, look at my second response, and my third, I never say Punk Metal doesn't exist musically, just not as 'Punk Metal'. It's Metalcore. It's like saying MetalRock, or Hip Rap. It just doesn't make sense!
I'm sure we're equal parts Metal connosuiers, it's just you can't let a magazine or whatever make your truths for you! There is no Punk Metal! There is Metalcore, and there is Thrash; if Punk Metal was real, neither would exist- it would be called Punk Metal. And see, you had to have some dirtbag kids label you to tell you that you're a Thrasher? Doesn't sound like any Metalhead I know. Dude, I've been playing and enjoying Metal since I was four; I know my shit.
And nobody is assuming, it's just you're spreading the wrong information.
I should know, I am a musician. And indie producer. I know my shit because it's my LIFE to do so.
And I know what a Thrasher is, you half-wit, go read what I said again. I can't stand little moronic kids like you who go around with your little pretentious minds thinking whatever the believe is correct, and close their ears to everything else.
Two bands? That's all? I've seen thousands come and go. Seriously. But this isn't about me.
This is about the misaplication of the term 'Punk Metal' as a genre, and not as an umbrella term.
You support yourself? Nice to know, considering I never asked. And you are young. I bet you even watched MTV at one point, haven't you? And refer to it fondly?
hahaha.your funny.like i said.when MTV used to actually play music.not bullshit reality show about preteens
but what ever.your okay.you have the metalhead attitude.respect to you.thats what the world needs.and yes.just two.as of now.
been in many bands.but like you said.they come and go.but idk.musics music.labels will always be around.im used to it.you should too.cause "Punk Metal" at one time,existed.
"you think you know it all.listen to some D.R.I. then youll get the whole picture. Thrashers are Thrash Metal fans retard.K?now you know."
This right here exemplifies the fact that you're just some fuck-wit 20-something who is far too pretentious to admit that he's wrong. And then you try to twist what I've said to make yourself some smart? I don't think so, you moron. What I said was, you don't sound like any Thrasher I know, because you had to let kids in middle school label you to ...
... Let you know that you were a Thrasher. No Metalhead I know lets a label, or anything said by a Magazine, Interview or otherwise tell them what Metal Gurus have known since this shit got started. Stop pretending to know what you don't.
"if you ever heard D.R.I.'s interviews on Crossover.they called it punk metal.in other words Thrash metal. also known as Crossover.or Crossover thrash."
So then, if Punk Metal refers to Thrash, then why would it not refer to Metalcore? And where would this put Grindcore? Or Powerviolence? Punk Metal is not a Genre; it's an umbrella term.
@raydrt well thank you, but i think you understand i didn't mean literally "punk metal" i just meant that it was more punkish and not the heaviest thing out there like he implied (from my point of view). i just wanted to introduce somebody into heavier music, although he might already know of it. i am against most religious people because they take it too far and use it for power as i suggested earlier. but it is good to have someone catching my mistakes, i view it as positive criticism lmao.
Bah, it's all good. Sorry about flying off the handle like that... but hey, at least we're not playing 'tough guy' like people in other videos. Take care, guy!
This song just screams venom at me if im honest. The song raise the dead is alot liek this one. Not saying theyre not original (besides sounding like venom isnt a bad thing those guys are gods of extreme metal) but yeah fucking loving these guys atm i love the singers unique voice i shall certainly be purchasing albums/tickets
@metalhed1100 Thank you. Now I don't feel so bad. Music and religion were always a weird personal conflict for me, but it's good to know others who can listen to this, or slayer, or bad religion, etc and still love it without it being a major issue.
@WakeEntry hey most christians think if you listen to metal or what ever then your a bad christian but they are problably not a true christian because they think you have to do this or not listin to this but it never said in the bible that you cant enjoy life
@RenegadeHippy At no point did I attempt to indicate that I was special in any way shape or form nor do I have any idea where you got that from. And clearly you care enough about what I believe in to have written such an angry and hostile comment.
@hmdiaz1 most of his songs have solos its just that the 2 videos he shot for those songs "Nuke the Cross" and Lord of the waste land had no solos in it.
@kjrody21 This shit is not thrash. People throw that word around way too loosely. Municipal Waste is just another thrash throwback band. Same with this. The great thing about when thrash initially came out was it was new and exciting. And bands are trying to recapture that by doing thrash by numbers, and it comes off as pretty generic and unoriginal. I'm just tired of hearing the word anymore.
I was knocked unconscious during theyre set and left in an ambulance.

@raydrt I think of toxic holocaust as metalcore.. To me, metalcore has always meant " Hardcore punk with thrash metal," which describes this great. I definately hear some discharge influence in this. In a way,, metalcore is a shorter way of saying hardcore punk metal.
noobishdumbberry 8 months ago
@noobishdumbberry
See, what you're saying makes more sense. All I'm saying is that Punk Metal as a genre is nonexistant; Metalcore is the correct term.And you're right, these guys aren't very thrashy at all.
raydrt 8 months ago
@noobishdumbberry
By the way, look at my second response, and my third, I never say Punk Metal doesn't exist musically, just not as 'Punk Metal'. It's Metalcore. It's like saying MetalRock, or Hip Rap. It just doesn't make sense!
raydrt 8 months ago
@Magmagan
"The term 'punk metal' has already been used loosly in a few popular megazines, so it does exist."
So, just because a 'few popular magazines' have used the term, it automatically makes it true? That's unsettling.
...Did you know that giving me a thousand dollars will cure cancer?
raydrt 8 months ago
@raydrt
if you ever heard D.R.I.'s interviews on Crossover.they called it punk metal.in other words Thrash metal.
also known as Crossover.or Crossover thrash.
im a thrasher.i would know,after so many people labeling me throughout my years of high school.
I hate labels though.ITS FUCKING METAL.BE HAPPY WITH IT
shnakeaneggs 8 months ago
@shnakeaneggs
Dude, I've been playing and enjoying Metal since I was four; I know my shit.
raydrt 8 months ago
@raydrt
i know my shit too.ive been listening to metal my whole life.
i grew up on it.
and your asuming way too fucking much.but whatever man.you obviously take yourself way to serious.
you think you know it all.listen to some D.R.I. then youll get the whole picture.
Thrashers are Thrash Metal fans retard.K?now you know.
shnakeaneggs 8 months ago
@shnakeaneggs
Hey, settle down, this isn't personal.

I know. I've seen your profile. Not bad.
Two bands?
And refer to it fondly?
raydrt 8 months ago
@raydrt
hahaha.your funny.like i said.when MTV used to actually play music.not bullshit reality show about preteens
but what ever.your okay.you have the metalhead attitude.respect to you.thats what the world needs.and yes.just two.as of now.
been in many bands.but like you said.they come and go.but idk.musics music.labels will always be around.im used to it.you should too.cause "Punk Metal" at one time,existed.

Err... I guess I'll respond to this, too.
And how is it assuming too much if I never assumed that you weren't a musician?
raydrt 8 months ago
"you think you know it all.listen to some D.R.I. then youll get the whole picture. Thrashers are Thrash Metal fans retard.K?now you know."
This right here exemplifies the fact that you're just some fuck-wit 20-something who is far too pretentious to admit that he's wrong. And then you try to twist what I've said to make yourself some smart? I don't think so, you moron. What I said was, you don't sound like any Thrasher I know, because you had to let kids in middle school label you to ...
raydrt 8 months ago
@shnakeaneggs

Punk Metal is not a Genre; it's an umbrella term.
raydrt 8 months ago
@raydrt well thank you, but i think you understand i didn't mean literally "punk metal" i just meant that it was more punkish and not the heaviest thing out there like he implied (from my point of view). i just wanted to introduce somebody into heavier music, although he might already know of it. i am against most religious people because they take it too far and use it for power as i suggested earlier. but it is good to have someone catching my mistakes, i view it as positive criticism lmao.

@metalhed1100 Thank you. Now I don't feel so bad. Music and religion were always a weird personal conflict for me, but it's good to know others who can listen to this, or slayer, or bad religion, etc and still love it without it being a major issue.
WakeEntry 9 months ago
@WakeEntry hey most christians think if you listen to metal or what ever then your a bad christian but they are problably not a true christian because they think you have to do this or not listin to this but it never said in the bible that you cant enjoy life

@RenegadeHippy At no point did I attempt to indicate that I was special in any way shape or form nor do I have any idea where you got that from. And clearly you care enough about what I believe in to have written such an angry and hostile comment.

kjrody21 9 months ago
@kjrody21 This shit is not thrash. People throw that word around way too loosely. Municipal Waste is just another thrash throwback band. Same with this. The great thing about when thrash initially came out was it was new and exciting. And bands are trying to recapture that by doing thrash by numbers, and it comes off as pretty generic and unoriginal. I'm just tired of hearing the word anymore.
