City councils are worthless across America. Strip them of power and replace them with community-driven approaches to manage city affairs. The concentration of political power in few hands always lead to abuses locally, regionally, and nationally.

Hey people the right to free speech is not absolute, at a meeting public or not there are rules of order, he had other recoarse than to make a grandstand play like that he was platying for the cameras. The public meeting needs to be orderly. The preacher had made his point, and so was ruled out of order. If the preacher wants to be heard he needs to get himself put on the agenda. Like all Constitutional rights there are limits. They didn't limit his content just his time, as is thier right.

The Father was absolutely right in his statement about the Constitution and the right to petition the Government to redress grievances. Shame on the Council, I think it is time for a change of government there. Hey people the right to free speech is not absolute, at a meeting public or not there are rules of order, he had other recoarse than to make a grandstand play like that he was platying for the cameras. The public meeting needs to be orderly. The preacher had made his point, and so was ruled out of order. If the preacher wants to be heard he needs to get himself put on the agenda. Like all Constitutional rights there are limits. They didn't limit his content just his time, as is thier right.

Or was it that he was being offensive to the Chairman's pride? Was he intelligently and effectively airing his grievances in a way everyone could understand? I may disagree with Father Nathan Monk on the plight of the homeless, but the Pensacola Council acted horribly.
The Father was absolutely right in his statement about the Constitution and the right to petition the Government to redress grievances. Shame on the Council, I think it is time for a change of government there. This was not a bunch of rowdy goons acting in an illegal way like the Occupy Wall Street goons, but Citizenship at it's finest. For him to be treated that way is a crime.

You cant even go camping in the wild!! How is that freedom? You need to do to a camping site and hire a little house stuff. The US has far more freedom in MANY senses, thats why the US overcame Europe a looooong time ago. Peace.

@lucianarg30 its hypocritical that you criticize the high cost of a drivers licence in europe, here in finland it is around 1500 euros, and yet at the same time mock free healthcare. the education in my country is great. however its fabulous that you shit on every european countrys educational system without never experiencing them. you really shouldnt be so narrow minded and think that the 1st spot can always be found from your home country. sometimes yes, sometimes no

Ok.....geeeze! Let me narrow it down. Nordic countries are generally better than southern europe or eastern european countries. I dont consider nordic countries within the eurozone as shitty countries, but hey, 1500 euros for a drivers licence is a disgrace. What can I say? The US has the ability to go forward in ALL directions thanks to our stance on liberty and freedom. THIS IS A CHRISTIAN NATION, FOUNDED BY CHRISTIAN. Like it or not. Peace and kisses :)

@lucianarg30 This is a secular nation, that has Bill of Rights. First Amendment makes it clear there is NO state religion, and all citizens may exercise their religious beliefs within the American society:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Um, did I say "Sharia Christian Law" or something? This nation was founded by Christians, and because of that, the Bill of Rights and the rest of the Amendments are so respectful and giving to peoples liberty! Had this nation been founded by seculars, as you say, we would have had a Federal Reserve decades ago and a fascist government (like now). BTW, all Amendments are based on the Bible and all Presidents swear by it when taking their oath.

@lucianarg30 Did I say "atheists" or something? Our nation was founded by secularists (people who believe in seperation of church and state, it is does not mean they were not religious personally.) Secularism is why we have Bill of Rights that states clearly that our country does NOT have a state religion. Bible is optional at oath! Puritans left England because of religious persecution by dominant Anglican church, remember history? Western law is historically based on Mosaic law

I get what you mean. But it is of no use denying the Truth only because in this day and age its cool to be anti religious and all for being secular. Back in the day people were mostly Christian or just plain uninterested in religion. That still doesn't take away the fact that this country was founded by and colonized by Christians. Peace!
