hello i go to vanguard middle school 117th bn and i am a sergeant in rank in my position i am a co and a brigade s4 i just wanted to tell you who ever thinks this is stupid and for losers u are special this helps your leadership skills and if you in air-force army or navy ROTC in high school you will get a full ride scholarship to almost what ever school u want to go to so i think u should do wat u want dont believe wat other people say
To get a commission from a Public Ivy league or an Ivy league school is really prestige.. well not as prestige than the Federal Schools. But its is still really good considering how smart these students are.
I've been reading a lot about ROTC, and I was wondering if anybody here could answer a question that I haven't figured out. I really want to do ROTC,(leaning towards Air Force), but I didn't apply for a 4yr ROTC scholarship in fall of my senior year of high school. I'm still a 12th grader right now, but graduation is soon, and i'll start as a college freshman this fall. Does anyone know If I can still be in ROTC, or be in ROTC with a 3yr scholarship and sitll get an officer commision? -Kevin
@k3v015Mk yes you you have nothing to worry about jsut contact the rotc thats attached or in the college your going ot they should help you out. hooah my friend.
If I want to get into Army ROTC, I am going to a community college (but will transfer in a year), do I have a high chance of getting into the LTC summer course or are the slots limited?
@k3v015Mk They're not Arabs, according to my Spring FTX 2011's OPORD, they are "Atropians" of the fictional land of "Atropia." They even have their own cultural guidelines which the cadets are briefed about. Although I will give you credit because ficion is always based in reality :P
@k3v015Mk They're not Arabs, they're "Atropians" from the land of "Atropia"; they have a culture based on reality to assist in training the cadets in handling situations with cultural awareness. For example, your squad has just met up with locals after rucking over 500m of hills during patrol; the locals claims to have intel and invites the squad for tea in their home. You may think its a trap, but in that culture, such an invitation is a sacred gesture. Would you give up intel on an assumption?
yeah I wanted to do rotc for a while but didn't do it first semester of college, and I am currently in j-term and I think I'm going to do it next semester...I just can't pass up on an oppourtunity to do what I really wanted, I just had too many reservations first semester but after meeting people who are doing it I want to do it
@fromstart2finish you can get a full paid scholarship to any college with ROTC, like I did but I got my Chief Warrant Officer instructor from my high school JROTC class to write a letter of recommendation (spelling) to get the full ride. Theres many benefits with ROTC just do some research
@TheEpicegg well, then you would be an infantry officer but its very hard ot become and infantry officer its competitive and hard the army doesn't want an idiot calling the commands
@TheEpicegg In ROTC, you're a student first and a soldier second. If you have a particular branch in mind, that is good, but the better your grades, the better chance you'll actually get what you request. Some branches are more selective than others and this varies depending on availability and need.
@bte53 PT three times a week, you don't really need to be all that fit to join but you definatly need to get fit to stay, check out army phsical fitness test requirements on go army . com, or just google the mo fo. You'll get a good idea where you're at.
I have been told by my commanding officers to take ROTC at Iowa State University (I am in the Iowa Army National Guard), but I don't want to lose my combat role as a Combat Engineer... So does anyone know if I become an officer can I still remain in my combat role, or will I be trapped behind a desk.
@Ripperger500 nope officers fight they mostly provide overwatch but they still fire their weapons I heard of this one officer that killed 5 taliban in a firefight in afghanistan you still get to fight
@ihatenongermans...a month late. But ROTC requires u to maintain a 2.0gpa..among other things. When it is time for you to commission you should have at least a 3.2 preferably a 3.5 and a 270PT score to get a active duty slot. As far as getting the job you want. Infantry is not the most "wanted" job by officers. So that particular job is easier to get then Aviation Officer. That being said anything worth something in life is never easy. Just keep up the GPA and be fit to fight. =)
Oh how I yearn to be in Army right now! Two more years of high school:/

what are those red things at the ends of the weapon?
MattBooneV6thEdition 6 months ago
@MattBooneV6thEdition Those are called blank-adapters. They make it so the weapon is able to fire blank ammunition without a projectile.

My brother's friends have been talking about ROTC. What is it anyway? Is it like a separate branch in the military?
mightycow203 1 year ago
@mightycow203 the rotc program produces officers for the army or any other branch.
