  • Wanted to give my $.02 on this barrel conversion. I have a XD40 4" and use the Stormlake 9mm barrel. I use the 40cal mags with the 9mm barrel (15 9mm round capacity). So far, using Remington Green Box, PMC Bronze, Herter's Aluminum TNJ, and Winchester White Box, after about 700 rounds-I have not had one FTF of any kind. The accuracy, feeding, and operation have been flawless for me.

  • @CanDoSeabee1 Yeah, not every XD has this problem. With the correct ammunition, I had a lot of success also. I tried this to see if it would aid with using cheap ammo, like blazer.

  • OMG!!! I really wanted to watch the whole video but that music is just too much.

  • So your shooting 9mm and

.40 off the same gun. I'm asking because it seems like you switch to a 40 magazine

  • @bassman2477 Yes. 9mm conversion barrels are a beautiful invention.

  • lol love the music

  • indexing your trigger finger should just be a natural habit other that that great of u to show this, any way i am not bashing u but indexing is the mark of the true professional, be safe and practice kinda try to make it a habit like buckling up, it should happen even without u realising it over time just a safety tip, and have fun, very smart move getting an xd , they cant be beat in my opinion

  • @nathan00campbell True that. I've noticed my finger does that often. I've been working on it while practicing with my AR15 also, which seems to have helped me with it a lot. I notice it happens more and more when my fingers are fatigued. And no problemo on bringing it up. I'm glad that there are people out there advocating safe firearms handling.

  • well firearm safety is king, me personally i have a 2 yo boy well 2 in January, but he will never even have a toy gun, until i feel that he is old enough for the Nordic 22 i have been building for him for over a year, over 2k invested already, any way i dont ever want him in the habit of pointing and saying bang, just like how i was raised my first gun was no toy, all in one x-mas i got a 22 revolver and a 10 22 and also a 20ga, happy times, that began my first hunting trip, woo hoo

  • thanx ddude

  • Were you using live rounds?

  • @ryotaryuu Nope! I made some dummy rounds just for this vid. I'm kind of anal about gun saftey...

  • @thisguy41487 dude anal ? aree yooou sureeee ? lol

  • Great video. I purchased the same storm lake conversion barrel for my XD .40 and I've had about 95-98% effectiveness. My question is, does your weapon now operate flawlessly with 9mm? I guess I'm just trying to weigh the risk v benefits. If you're still having one or two FTE's per 100rds then I don't wanna go playing with the extractor, but if its as reliable as a factory xd 9 then it might be worth the risk. I know your vid implies that its a complete fix, just wondering about range reports.

  • @SCHSFOOTBALL1 Well, from what I've had happen so far, the real determining factor is the type of ammo you use. Some ammo companies make the rims on the 9mm rounds thicker than others and the thicker rims help the extractor work more effectively. The most successful ammo type I've used so far is American Eagle (White Box) which had flawless functioning. By doing my fix method, it helps grab the smaller rims a little bit more, but ammo choice is still the primary factor.

  • @SCHSFOOTBALL1 In addition, with the right ammo, I get 100% reliability. My real goal was to make my firearm work flawlessly on the cheapest of ammo, but alas, cheap ammo = cheaper material. And for you, since you seem to have a particularly high success rate with what you've got, I wouldn't try this method to improve your handguns extraction. Like I mention in the description, not all XD pistols have this issue.

  • @thisguy41487 Totally late on this, but it's primarily a problem in the caliber change. I've been working with and researching into it more and more, and it's just the way that the upper for the XD is designed. I've discovered that the lower for the XD40/357 sig and XD9 are exactly the same.. As in I have successfully swapped slides with an XD9 and fired 9mm flawelessly. And the slides are very similar, save the barrel outside diameters and their cuts. (Continued in next post)

  • @thisguy41487 I've been looking to see if anyone sells the XD9 extractor and seeing if it will fit in my .40. Then at that point, I might try to figure out a way for it to grab all 9mm without hindering the .40 performance.

  • After you filed down that spot on the extractor did you happen to mic it by any chance I wanted to know how far you went.

  • I didn't file much off at all. If I remember correctly, there should be a black powder coating on the extractor and all I did was file off just enough to remove the powder coating and expose the steel (as seen at 2:41). It's not much at all, but its just enough to give it a little extra room to grab the 9mm rim.

  • I have the same gun.Did you polish the feed ramp by any chance on the 40 barrel mine will not cycle hp to well ( winchester ranger ).I am in in the process of polishing mine.

    good video man

  • Hmmm, Winchester Ranger huh? Does any other HP rounds have that issue also? The only HP .40 I've ever put through my XD was Federal Hydra-shock and it had no issues. The only Winchester Ranger ammo I've ever used was .357 sig and the only time I had issues was when I had 12 rounds in the mag. At about 10 rounds it fed just fine. I'll send you a PM with more questions.

  • lol I type "9mm 40 45" in the search box. I didn't quite expect to see you in my results. Then again, you and your conversion barrels....

Nice fixing job there. I'm thinking on what to get for a full-size pistol as 380 is a pain to shop for. Still keeping the 380, though.

  • @vugundam Quite a vague search if you ask me. Hahaha!

  • You are a beautiful man.

  • kill the music

  • As an owner of the exact same gun(and soon if im able to, the exact same aftermarket parts) i wanna personally say thanx for posting this vid and giving a good visual reference to work with =)

  • son of a beatch men

  • The glock 9mm conversion barrel works pretty much the same way , but most people do not need to replace the extractor or Ejector ( As I'm sure its like that with most XD's also ). Thanks for sharing man , I'm sure many people will find this video very help.

    PS: I like the music.

  • Interesting, but what's with the overbearing music - cab barely hear you.

  • Sorry about how lame this video is. It's my first video of me in it.
