  • my athlon ii x2 240 only overclocks until 3.43 ghz.

older amd chips seems to limit until 3.4ghz max

  • Lol, back in time noobs. I get 4.2GHz stable easy.

  • Dont use a program to oc ur cpu...

  • the 6400 is easy to overclock. but the fact that it hasnt got an option for the 65nm Brisbane, makes it run very hot.

I guess it crashes cuz of the chip heating up too quick

  • i guess that your htt multiplier is still at auto. if its @ x5 set it to x4 and try it again. but remember u have to go to the bios to set the HTT. the htt should be about 800-1000 (u can check it via CPUz). HTT = FSB * HTT multi

  • It could be the voltage, im not an amazing overclocker tbh, just a thought. Some CPU's clock easier than others

  • you're a n00b

  • those Athlon x2 6000+ series are notoriously hard to overclock. There is no help. those chips are inherently unstable when overclocked.

I have a 6000+. It crashes at 3.3ghz.. It can run stable at 3.2

The 6400+ is just a ramped up versoion of the 6000+ You will not get much more than 3.2 out of it.

  • even my computer crashed before and when i checked the procesor cooler was not in its well fixed , so watch out yours

  • bro you video card crashed when you over clocked it or the Power Supply dont have enough watts to support the overclocking

  • what happens if you crash your cpu in overclocking?

  • Nothing just self reboots or you have to manually restart it but excessive procedures well have a permanent Damage

  • @papagalop turn it back on and try again.

people always say you can break your chip, buts that really not that common.

  • Mine was stable @ 3,5ghz..did it in bios

  • have you thought about changing Mhz on everything else cos your bringing fsb up and your motherbourd might not cope with the added Mhz

  • 1. this cpu isn running at 31°C at air cooling

    2. you must go to bios and pull the vcore highter, but only 0.2 volts more

    3. this cpu used the "old" chip with 90 nm architecture

  • you can pull clocks as far as you want but IS IT STABLE???? and dont use freaken noob tools go to the BIOS like a MAN!!! and i think at those speeds you need to up the voltages...

  • well, the video showed it wasn't stable.

  • some pcs cant be overclocked through bios.

  • @acefilms2008 BIOS wont let u to overclock it if your cooling systm isnt pretty big enought.

  • is that a vista pc?

  • whats that program ur using ? is it any good ?

  • yea its ight

  • its called AI Booster

  • Overclock in bios!!!!! in windows is fucking bad!!!

  • .. try upping the NB voltages.. it helps..

  • i get my athlon to 4 ghz...

  • First of always try to overclock from the BIOS. It is much easier. Second, if you are raising the front side bus, you are also raising your ram memories speed. try decreasing it in the bios. Third, lower the HT link. Fourth, raise your cpu voltage. Like this i got my AMD 64X2 5000+ from 2.6Ghz to 3.3Ghz... Good luck

  • you cant overclock a name brand motherboard from the bios its locked on one a motherboard thats not name brand

  • u need to set ur voltages higher

  • i got mine 3,42 GHz but got a BSOD while gaming...

  • @nfsu2gamer Bsod?

  • @robertkrosl yep

  • Overclocking should be done step by step. You try to do that immediately. I overclocked my AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz instantly and then had to reinstall everything. Try overclocking it in BIOS section. It is time consuming but worth of it.

  • ummmm can u tell me which program u use i need it for overclocking to =)...

  • try power supply, then type of ram, then check your mainboard jumper settings and then buy an other pc... :-)

  • maybe htt multi needs lowered or ram clock needs to be lowered depends on a number of things it could be 1 component that makes u hit a wall

  • what motherboard do you have an what power supply do you have? because i get mine AMD 6000+ at 3.611mhz

  • Programs are realy risky to use for overclocking.

I recommend using the BIOS to do this.

  • Voltage?

  • 1.45

  • what program do u use to oc?

  • i have overclock my E8200 from 2.66 Ghz to 4.00 Ghz its works but i need more fans i have now 5 and all on 100% with Speedfan.exe app and its work fine

  • well thats intel u can do that

  • Have you tried to up the vcore and dropping your multi and raising your fsb? That can help sometimes to. Also try loosening your memory timings. If your really pushing your cpu, your memory has to be able to keep up with the FSB which directly corrolates with the speed of the CPU.

  • I feel your pain... the higest I can get my motherboard to post at is 3.60Ghz... but it will not load windows

    [1.4375V, DDR2800 @ 400, 225 Multiplyer]

  • oh ya and the M2N-E is shit for overclocking...

    M2N32-SLI Premium

    AMD Athlon 6400+ @ 3.4Ghz

    8GB DDR2 800

    Asus 4890 1GB :)

  • u need a good fan

  • u need to increase cpu voltage to overclock further the cpu isnt getting hot cos u are ajusting the frequency the heat heat comes from increasing cpu voltage which u have to do when overclocking becasue increasing the frequency requires more power

  • it is crashing because your CPU voltage is too low when u increase frequency u need to increase CPU voltage to compensate the cpu doesnt get hot from increasing frequency it gets hot when u increase voltage

  • I've overclocken my E5300 from 2,6 to 3,6, with stock cooler.

  • yo thats not overcloaking it dont overcloak it just fuck up ur cpu :S (virus included in boosters dont trust those mofo boosters fake software + spyware included in some of them)

  • Nice Man

    What Cooler you have ?

  • Dude! 30 celcious is 86Fahrenheit

  • thas shit happen to me went i put 1 more gb of ram but i have amd X2 3800+ then went i put 1 GB more i overclock to 2.2 Ghz and crack i take the Gb off and now go up to 2.4GHz idk why i cant put another GB anyone know how to fix that?????????

  • isit the right sort of ram ?

  • but i know what it is i just take 1BG off and i cant overclock to 4.5GHz and nothing happen just fine but the C go up a lil so

  • hmm, well i advise you to get a 6000 (6400) are extreamly hard to get, i missed out by a few pence earlyer this week lol:( i was gutted,

  • WHAT PROGRAM IS THAT?!?!?!?

  • y0 i gota 6400+

up the voltage to 1.45v and u can get 3.67ghz out of it

    it will b very hot...

ALSO i doubt that that software temp monitor is correct it should b ALOT hotter than that idle @ stock speeds

my current idle temp is 31*c with power saving on (air), these dont handle OC that well.

  • what program you use ?

  • try more ram, or get an updated bios or fimrware for your processor, that worked when i overclocked my p2(450 to 700 mhz)

  • men, using that program you will not get a stable overclock.. use your bios.. and all depends of what mobo, ram and coling you have, i have amd 6000 windsor OC at 3.425ghz stable (2 hours in prime 95) and my temp reach50C1 max (i´m on water)

  • i got an amd 6000+ and i can get up to 3.5ghz then i crash but my temp gets up to 45 degress tho, the best what to get it running fast then normal is to start off lowering your multi and raising your bus to the standard speed, then hit up the multi by 1 so its overclock by a lil bit, then start going up in like 5mhz each time on the bus. i try to occ my ram more i had my bus @ 360mhz 9multi which i had my ram speed through the roof

  • do i need to adjust more voltiages to the cpu if i overclock ??

  • just use ur bios instead...i honestly dont see why u need it overclock it in the 1st place, that cpu is fast enough for any game out today...

  • just cause the temps arnt high doesnt mewan the overclock is stable. theres more than just temp to go by. overclock bit at a time and test with something which uses ltos of cpu.

  • it heats so much

  • If you can, use your bios to overclock.

  • I had this problem to.. but then i noticed that my cpu and ram was linked (FSB).. i whent in to the bios and changed the settings so the RAM stayed the same.

    Good luck !

  • umm what your embarrassed of your cpu that you dident even put it on you page thats fucking sad and you fucking computer sucks a 4850 are u serious and a ecs mobo thats fucking GAY and only 250gb haha that shit makes me fuck laugh

  • you dont know how to fuckin read?

how am i embarrassed of it? your a fuckin noob id like to see you at my fuckin house id woop your ass

  • your embarrassed because you fucking computer sucks dick that thing isent even worth 500 fucking retared and what processor you got? its not on you page

  • ha i jus looked and you jus updated your page 5200+ u r serious that shit fucking sucks i got even think that thing is even worth being called a gameing computer maybe a OFFICE computer or a computer for a old lady

  • i said in my video, and yes if it can play every game i throw at it, its a gaming computer.

do i fucken need somethin better fro the games i play? (CSS, hl2, tf2...)

  • bloodcell7, your PC is awesome at playing GTA4 on your channel, its perfectly fine, don't let asusm2ne say your PC sucks.

  • A 4850 is very good for most games.

250GB is enough if you aren't game crazy.

    5200+ is enough,

Lots of people play Crysis with a 3800+ and a 4850 and still get good FPS.

I don't think old women play Crysis that often do they?

    :P

  • yes, they do!

  • Lol :P

  • Also, asus, your Crysis gameplay on your channel, you use a 8800GT, which is no where near as good as the 4850, You had a 200GB hard drive, and you said 250GB was bad, so...

    meh.

  • get a amd athlon 7750 x2 or somethin

  • no fool, go with intel fool, if you go with intel. their new processors are 3 times as fast as this.. 4 times if you use linux and you can unlock the remainder settings, and 6 times if you can cool it properly.. so BITE ME

  • you have horrible calulations

  • and this is coming from...someone you uses what... a hampster wheel for a Power supply, a typewriter for a keyboard, a toaster for removable media, and a 5 inch black and white TV for a monitor??? BESIDES. the only times that i overclocked was AFTER i used phase change to cool my computer.. SO.. as i said. BITE ME

  • ya thats my setup alright.

and you dont even know what your talking to so... suck my dick preferably?

  • ummmm no id rather not but your suck dick and so does the 6400+ thats why its in the trash

  • Comment removed

  • wanst talking to you

  • i would.. but your mom is much better qualified then me.. so ask her will you.. also do some research ON phase change. or are you that retarded to? then you will see that im right, your wrong. and im smart and your not. and that you will be on your knees taking my strap on up your ass bitch

  • Comment removed

  • haha your fucking gay you dont know what your fucking talking about you fucking suck dick

  • since when is 4 fps 6 times faster?

  • im talking about how much better intel I7 with linux is compared to the AMD. better as in how efficient it is.. read the benchmark tests. I then go into more detail with the cooling systems and how the better cooling systems allows the processors to run at a higher speed. ALSO i believe that the I7 has 8 processors.. THANK YOU !!

  • its not that much faster, you have watched a couple of videos on youtube and now you think its so much faster. well. its not.

it is very obvious that you have done absolutley, NO research, it is quad core. yeah keep beliveving because its gotten you no where. quad means 4 not 8. YOUR WELCOME.

  • ok, how bout u leave me alone, im not interested in hearing your lack of math. I7 is 8 cores.. if you didnt know that please google the I7

on that message LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE. im not interested in hearing from you.

  • thats what i was waiting for. we'll call this off. ive done research and i7 is quad-core. seriously, just fucking google it.

  • i did not want you fuckin responce you fuckin prick leave me the fuck alone or do you have nothing else to do then fuckin through a god damn bitch fit every fucking time you disagree with every fuckin thing every one says? you are the most annoying cunt i have ever met in my entire life. I think you should get a fuckin life and leave me the fuck alone. Fuckin kill yourself you smart ass cunt face slut ass bitch before you shoot your mouth off and someone kills you.

  • read what i said. we are calling this off, that was supposed to be the last comment, and that wasnt an insult. it was collaborated words to make a fragment of a sentence. and that isn't how you spell responSe.

  • The i7 is technically a quad-core, but it has Hyperthreading, which makes the system think it has 4 additional cores in order to process more efficiently. So its 4 physical cores, 4 logical.

Think of partitioning a HDD. You split a 500 gig hdd into two 250 gig partitions and the system shows two separate hdd's. Partitioning doesn't magically add an extra HDD in your case now does it? Same with an i7.

  • ya I don't think your going to squeeze much out of it. 6400+ is the fastest those guys could get that core to go. I've got a 6000+ 65nm Brisbane and It doesn't want to overclock at all not even a extra 100 hertz.

Should check out the New Black edition AMD cpus. there cheap (under 90$ for a 7750+) and have unlocked multipliers so no need to really mess with the front side bus or voltages just get a good mainboard.

you check and see if your DACS and voltage regulators are to hot on your board?

  • I think your problem is trying to squeeze extra mhz that core just cant do. 6400+ was the tip top range of that specific core.

    is it a 65nm or a 90nm die?

  • 90nm

  • that could be why

  • Whats the program?

  • This might be little late since this video is old but using the AINos set the external frequency to 220 and then set cpu voltage to 1.5 and it should be stable at 3520 mhz. I ran 3dmark06 and Vantage at these settings and all was stable. It used to crash on me also at 3520 until upping the volts.

  • i put at those setteing and it was still was not stable

  • What overclocking software is that? Where do you get it?

  • You tried overclocking from bios?

  • Co za chuje mogę na was gadać a wy i tak nie rozumiecie bo jesteście tępymi pałami i matkojebcami

  • If I where you i would increase the processor voltage, to start with the lowest first then start the computer and contiue until it is not crashin anymore. Use a benchmark program to see if it stable and if it crashes increase the peocessor voltage.

  • amd and intel no one is better is just that intel got the lead this year

  • Dont fuck with the Voltages ;)

if you dont know what youre doing!

Amd athlon 64 x2 multiplyer lock!

so you cannot change it down from 12.1x or whatever you got there

and you can oc your to over 800/930

when you have reached those limits then its crashes!

but if you change the voltages,Cpu ratio,Dram Frequensy. You can go a friggin' hihgher maybe over 3.7Ghz! keep it up mate!

  • AMD alaso has the first 8 core processor

  • Not even close to being true. Gosh, I hate the ignorant Intel fanboys.

  • It may be down t voltages or another factor causing the crashes.

First thing I would do is drop your memory speed to a slower speed. As you up the FSB/HT you increase memory operational frequency so can easily hit a bottleneck there.

Try slowly upping the Vcore voltage and see if that gives stability and also check your Northbridge and memory have enough volts going in. Getting a good stable OC is a slow job.

Change 1 thing at a time and do it in small increments. Always watch the temps.

  • yes u need help, and by help i mean more than just with the overclocking...

  • This architecture is at it's limits already with a stock 3.2 clock. A 5000+ can easily reach 3.2. This is simply the limits of the hardware. Don't feel bad, I can get 3.5 out of my 6000+ but nothing stable above 3.45. Gaming 3.370.

  • I overclock my amd athlon 6400 on 3.6ghz and i can crysis on ver high ;)

  • This is a fucking awesome processor why would you have to overclock it? ^^

  • because i can bitch

  • Okay bitch.

  • Does AI booster allow you to up your vcore? and if so have you done that yet? You can run 1.4v-1.5v safely on that CPU. You should also, if you can with AI booster, drop your HT multiplier and ram speeds significantly, at least until you have a respectable CPU overclock then you can raise them back up slowly.

I don't know why everyones telling you to get a phenom, doesn't that defeat the purpose of overclocking?

Good luck and keep us updated

  • Wow, I don't think people understand that you aren't able to overclock in your BIOS lol.

  • well your not doing it in BIOS, thats the first problem.

    Programs cannot get everything correct.

Your RAM could be the bottleneck even.

    Go to BIOS and overclock.

  • i have a 2x 5200 and i can get to 3.7 :/

  • so your 5200 is 65nm right? my 6400+be is 90nm so its not that good for overclocking i was just fucking around its fast enough i dont even need to overclock it

  • the 5200 is based on the 90nm. also i might as well let you know i was able to get my 6400 black to 3.744 today with air cooling alone.

  • i say probly most likely get more power, voltage or wattage, try upping the voltage and if that dont work get a more powerful power supply

  • I run mine 6400+ stable on 3,408ghz 24/7, 1,47 volts(NEEDED)and 2,1v on my 4gb corsair 8500 bla bla 1066mhz. mine also crash on 3,5ghz + even with 1,5volts. Maybe have to give it even more voltage.

I know a swedish guy that runs his 6400+ on 3,8xx ghz 24/7, he got a good one. i can post link if u want later.

  • AMD 6000+ and 6400+ dont go past 3.4 stable.

  • ha you are wrong. my 6400 along with my friends got to 3.5 stabil. but you might be talking about the regular, i have black ed.

  • yes i am talking about the regular.. but there are also some chips that will get to 3.5-3.6 but with extreme volts.

  • The best thing to doo its to put a liquid cooling system in your PC and then overclock, it is much safer and you get better results !!!

  • just so you know a 5000 can go to 3.4 with only adjusting the multiplier and with out over volting

  • get quad core lol intel never have to crash again.

  • Honestly? Are you seriously telling this guy to get an intel?

Do you know how intel rates their procs? They try it at (say 3 ghz) then if that doesn't work they try 2.9 ghz and so on until it works. And THAT IS THE RATING THEY PUT ON THE LABEL. AMD, on the otherhand is modest and leaves plenty of room for overclocking (if you know what you're doing). I'm not flaming anyone, just please, be less biased and more factual.

  • amd athlon x2 series is not good for overclocking....if u want an amd that is good in overclocking try to buy the phenom series maybe x3 or x4 is good for oc...specially the black edition of it...coz amd B.E is built for oc and @ low temp...

  • athlon x2 BE is super OC-able to 3.2 and thats it...

  • the 6400+ i have is the black edition

  • what for a CPUcooler u have?

  • thats on stock

  • actully at 3472.00mhz its 85% stable

  • you need to OC in the bios or youll run into this problem every time and might damage your cpu in the bios try raising the voltage to 1.5

lower the ddr mem to 667 0r 400 un do the pci sync to 33.3 use a cpu multiplyer of 15x start from 3.3ghz and go up slowly and i mean no more than a value of 1 at a time youll have to do alot of rebooting to get it right oh and check your requred memorey voltage value should be 1.8v -2.0v depending on your specs

  • amd all the way!.what mb u running?i have

  • m2n-e but never buy if you want the best amd motherboard get the m3a32-mvp i just got the m3a32-mvp and sold my old m2n-e

  • Amd is weak at overclocking ,if u wanna make decent overclocking buy a Intel CPU.

  • unstable

  • what prog you use to oc that?

  • ai booster

  • only works with asus boards

  • rase you voltage

  • overclock in BIOS!

    but i hate BIOS anyway.!

  • real men oc in bios

  • real fags oc in the bios

  • yeah, judging by your video, it seems you really know what you're talking about

  • dude it jus a joke i do oc in the bios but i can really screen record that can i and i dont have a cam

  • Higher the volt?

  • Overclock in the BIOS.

  • thtas becouse i not overklock its not my PC i sitting on im sitting on the "fameily PC. i will buy a new PC aPackard Bell IMEDIA8846 with 4GBRam Nivida geforce 9500GS (512MB) and a amd Phenom prosessor bu i dont now with a good becouse its gamerPc so i will buy it i dont neet hig and only at the games like gta samp +enb series or test driver unlimited and gTA IV (when its comming out for PC) rum good so i will be habby when i have this PC

  • What the FUCK?

  • whaat.... I only understood that you're gonna buy some GTA? And.. I think GTA IV isn't coming out for PC. And yeah, rum is good.

  • try using a O.C profile or just go to the bios and overclock the cpu from there, btw keep ur bios updated to the latest that may help and its better for stability in my experience to overclock the ram as well.

im pretty shure that u can get it much higher

just make shure your case has good cooling and ur mobo temps arent to high coz that will just cuaz ur pc to hang even if u got it any higher

the best way to get it overclocked to its maximum is through the bios. Good luck

  • you cant oc from windows...you have to do it from bios!

  • well i did bitch

  • It's the first time I see overclocking from windows, I've seen it in bios more often.

  • use amd black edition..black edition have unlock the multiply.u can overclock the multiply proccersor.

  • The 6400+ BE is a joke... yes the multiplier is unlocked... but the max multiplier is 16, just like the 6400+...

  • M2N-E is fucking crap unable to exceed 223 or 225 FSB.

  • amped up the cpu voltage and fsb speeds increase that as well and your ram might need adjustments with the timings & mhz in order to support that speed..otherwise you'll get the blue screen or post..if your on water remove cpu and repaste thermal ...on air clean heatsink good luck

  • get rivaturner

  • Do research on your problem

I would say u should just crank up the voltage and u would be just fine, but u should remember that more voltage=more heat so it's not going to run as cool
