Dogs do not get OCD. And before resorting to phenobarb, try potassium bromide. It has been used for seizures since Cleopatra's time. Casco (who has a video on here, too) is under control with this med once a day.
nope he sees something you dont.not ocd .not seizures.they call it fly biting for a reason.star flies.the dog is not being harassed by something that is not there.that is ridiculous idea.giving drugs to an animal to dull their senses is not a solution. its willful ignorance.our senses only allow observance of a narrow band of the electromagnetic spectrum.just because you dont see it does not mean its not there.do you see the signal coming from your cell phone ? do you smell it?
Hi, I have 3 year old Irish Setter and he's been doing the exact same thing as your dog for a couple of months. I've seen 2 different vets and they can't seem to figure out what the problem is. They both say that its just a bad habit he picked up which I think makesn no sense. Would you mind letting me know what kind of treatment you went thru for your dog and how is he doing now? Any information would be really apreciated.
Hi, our vet was very helpful when we first went to see her. Charlie is on phenobarbital and has been for about 3 years now, he gets checked on by the vets every 6 months because it's a strong drug.
To be fair the vet did also say that it could be a form of 'OCD' in dogs but we tried clicker training but it didn't help him at all so the vet did blood test then put him on the phenobarbital. Which has helped the snapping a lot. He gets worse if he is stressed or gets over excited.
@charliesangels77 Aw, poor dog. I adopted a cavalier, his name is Charlie too. I will be getting a cavalier puppy in 6 weeks, hopefully without any health issuses. Is your dog in pain?

How is your dog making out since your post?
xebec1958 1 year ago
@xebec1958 still the same, he is still on the same meds from the vets. We've just grown to love Charlie the way he is.

@xebec1958 I don't think he's in any pain if he was we would talk to the vet as I don't think it would be fair on him.
Cavaliers are very loving dogs.
