  • This cat has a passion for life :) I hope his disability isnt holding him back!

  • I have a cat who has cerebellar hypoplasia. she requires some considerations for her ch, but otherwise she's a normal healthy girl. she's vaccinated and currently waiting to be spayed...she's old enough and weighs enough but vet said that due to the ch, the surgery will set her back and i am to wait an additional 2 months so her body can get a little stronger. she's a determined cat, very loving, purrs loud enough to be heard several feet away...her name is Sierra.

  • @avarocks44 I think the best thing for buddy was to make him a litter box...I took a large storage tote...and cut a door in one end leaving a four inch bottom...this way he can lean on the sides...try it it is great!

  • He looks very happy! This kitty really want to live!!!!

  • What a handsome kitty! I admire anyone who gives an animal with a disability a chance. And when you do, they become better friends than "normal" animals do!

  • It's so nice to see other CH kitties out there. I have had my CH boy "Dakota" since he was a kitten...someone had dumped him in a ditch because of his condition. 12 years later he is still with us and going strong. He is the most loving and entertaining cat I have had. Thank you for sharing your video and for hopefully helping to gain some awareness for CH kitties and helping more of them find homes rather than being needlessly euthanized.

  • HEHEHEHE your kittys so random. C: C: C: <3 <3 <3 <3

  • As a CVT, I have seen varying degrees of this condition. If a cat can right itself and eat, there is no reason to give up on them. I have used this video to help a fellow rescuer make a decision concerning a "wobbly" kitty she took in... thank you for posting this.

  • lol silly kitty

  • For those who don't know, cerebellar hypoplasia occurs in one of a few ways. If the mother is vaccinated for or gets an infection with feline distemper while pregnant, or if the mother is vaccinated too soon after birth then the kittens can be affected. Sometimes, it just happens. It causes the cerebellum to not develop properly. The cerebellum controls fine motor skils. It is important to note that these cats are NOT in pain and can live happy, relatively normal long lives.

  • Buddy is adorable.

  • Hey our pregnant rescue kitty had 5 kittens in April and 3 had CH. We decided to keep one of them but I was curious as to how you can get them to use the litter if they can barely stand. Please let me know how you do that! Thanks!

  • @cbrcrx Hi and thank you for keeping one...what I do is use a plastic storage bin they have the height that you need....you dont need the lid...now cut a big opening on one end but leave about 3-4 inches on the bottom. I use everclear litter but freshstep is good too....fill it atleast 3-4 deep. Put it in an area where they can get to easily. This way when the go in the box they can lean against the side of the box to get in and out and the cat will most likey lay to go to the bathroom.

  • buddy finks him's a woodpecker. ;)

  • We have Marty, a CH kitty with tons of love.

  • My one year old chocolate lab has cerebellar hypoplasia as well. Hes such a sweet heart. His name is also Buddy!

  • Can anyone answer this question for me? I might get the chance to bring home a kitten that has cerebellar hypoplasia ,will there be a chance of my other cats getting distemper from this Kitten? In all these videos of these cats and kittens that have this condition, they all look healthy to me.

  • @tagategirl INSANELY low...:) It was a result of infection in-utero (when the mom was pregnant). Plus, I'm sure your cats are all vaccinated as well.

  • @tagategirl A ch cat won't give another cat anything as long as they are vaccinated. They don't carry anything that caused this...sometimes the mother had distember which hurt the babies cerebellum...but there are other reasons too. Just treat the kitten like a normal kitten...vaccinate and neuter and please never declaw.

  • you are so lucky to have him and he is so lucky to have you, i love him so much, beyond precious !!

  • He's so adorably :]

I personally thank you for giving him a home ^-^

    :)

  • Thankfully this kitteh has a good owner.

  • Buddy is a gift....he is always by my side and is the sweetest, most affectionate little boy...and not because I am his "Mother" but he is so smart and caring.

  • Bless his little heart, and bless yours too for taking him in. With all the nastiness that goes on, its good to see something heartwarming now and then.

  • beautiful video and the song perfectly fits, who's singing btw ?

  • Aww, what a sweetie~ It's wonderful that you're caring for a CF kitty. That song goes really well with the video too... do you know who sings it? It's really beautiful.

  • Sometimes uneducated shelters vaccinate for "feline distemper" or panleukopenia with a live virus, which can also cause kittens they have to die or be born affected with this. Their cerebellums, which control motor movement, don't grow big enough. Sometimes their vision is also affected, but most people don't notice that.

  • Adorable! Health challenges in animals always make me love them even more. Bless you for caring for him.

  • Go Buddy Go!!!!!! He's diggin' life!

  • What song is this?

  • The song is one from the youtube collection...I can't remember the name but when I heard it I knew it was for Buddy.

  • @sherry4620 The song's title can be found under the video statistics. It is "We All Fall Down" by Janell Marie

  • @sherry4620 The song is called "We All Fall Down" by Janell Marie. You can find more information under "show video statistics"

  • what exactly is cerebellar hypoplasia , first time I hear it (at least in english) hopefully it doesnt look that serious ;D

  • @MrDar3k

When Buddy was born his mother was feral...she did not have shots needed and most likely had distember...the babies had the cerebellum damages...so his brain says "move your feet" and his feet don't get the message as fast as he should so he falls...about 200 times a day(the house is all thickly carpeted) . People can get this as well as other animals.

  • Love the choice of song!!!!!!!!! cool vid ,though i don't rlly like cats.

  • That spin at 0:06 was pretty cool, though. :D

  • i have a cat with CH too :D it's a milder form and shes so much fun .. she is still really kitten-like however she can't jump and finds it hard to meow :( .. her brother kinda takes the piss jumping up on to high bits of furniture but we spoil her rotten so i didnt think she minds too bad ;) .. hope your cat is doing okay (Y) x lol

  • Buddy is still doing well...he plays more now because we got a puppy for him....they are best friends. We had to move his litter box into the dining room...was just too hard for him to make it to the bathroom in time....but what is a little 3 foot space if it makes Buddy's life easier. The recent comments about Buddy knowing or not if he is different I would definitely say from watching him that he knows he is different from my other cats,,,at times I feel so bad for him as they run and jump.

  • @sherry4620 It really is unfortunate for Buddy. But this has inspired me to adopt CH cats. Thanks!

  • may i just say this video got me in tears :'( he looks so beautiful and im a major cat lover just seeing this made my heart melt and gah its just wonderful that your are still keeping him in your care :) not like heartless people who give them away just cause there is a problem. Give the lil guy a cuddle from me :D

  • beautiful cat and perfect choice of song!

  • i watched this video and i started crying :/

  • @peppimariah Pfft no reason to cry, as far as the cat knows, he's completely normal.

  • @grenadier33 if you couldnt walk and see other ppl walking different i dont think you will still be the same

  • @peppimariah The difference is, I'm not a dog. Dogs, despite what youv'e seen in Disney movies, are not like people and do not think like people do. They lick their balls in public, they poop anywhere the please, sometimes they eat that poop if they have an inefficent digestive system and can smell meat still in it. What's sad is that most of the dogs and cats who have CH are put down because people don't understand that these dogs and cats live completely normal (as far as they know) lives.

  • @grenadier33 In fact, cats are very intellegent. They have a large section of the brain dedicted to dexterity...which is why there are so many varying degrees of the disorder but their frontal lobe, is MUCH much smaller than ours. our prefrontal cortex's are larger to allow us to create LONG TERM memories. Giving us more in depth personalities and allowing us to LEARN from out MISTAKES....So sadly, I think this liitle guy will NEVER get used to it =(

thanks R.O.W. for the lesson ^.~

  • @peppimariah Also, sorry about the licking their own balls comment, that was kinda tasteless.

  • He may have a disorber, but he is so cute!

  • poor baby :( it breaks my heart because people can be so cruel to kitties with special needs. they need love, too.

  • Meow Buddy!

  • i have a cat with CH. her name is tiger and she is about four a half. I love her to death. They can be a hassel, but i love her like i would love an actual child. the cat in the video reminds me exactly of her.

  • i like him

  • I too have a CH Kitty who is about 18months old now. She is the love of my life along with her 4 brothers! They are all "normal". My kitty has trouble eating and getting to the litter box in time. Do you have any suggestions? Also she doesn't play at all! Isn't that odd?

  • By trouble eating do you mean the "head bobbing" or do you mean actually chewing? Because of their walking difficulty I have the litter box where he can get to it easy and I have cat genie...it is always sterile for him each time...still sometimes he has an accident because he falls out but that is rare.

  • Sherry, Thanks so much for responding. I do mean the "head Bobbing" not actual chewing. She falls in her dish constantly! I have tried every kind of litter box and some self made ones too but she either stumbles over to it & stands in front of it and pees or she just opens her eyes and pees. I have resorted to putting a wee wee pad under her where ever she is lying down. I can tell when she has to go #2 so I pick her up &hold her in the litterbox while she goes,Not fun, but what can you do?

  • It took buddy a year until my other cats played with him like a normal cat...In the beginning I gave Buddy one on one play his favorite toy was one called "DA Bird" also the ring with the ball in it...he loves that. Now he plays with the other 2 cats all the time. If you have any other questions I would be glad to help you...

  • My other cats don't bother with her except for a sniff here and there. She doesn't play with any of the toys. She use to go after a little ball but she seems to have gotten more disabled as she got bigger. Not that she is big...She is all of 3.5 pounds fully grown! But it seems her hind legs can't hold her anymore. I guess that's why she doesn't play. It makes me sad though. All she does is eat, sleep, pee, and of course purr when she is being held by me.

  • Littermaid also makes a litter box that is wonderful for ch cats...I was lucky mine could go in the catgenie...you can see both online...they don't like to be in a litterbox that another cat just went in...both of mine are self cleaning.

  • I know that even if she makes it in the litterbox, she falls over while going. Sometimes she does complete backward tumblesaults! I guess she is a little more severe than others? Do you know of any vitamins or calcium pills that might help strenghten her muscles? Anyway, any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated. I just want to make her life as full as possible. She is such a love...her name is Martini, because she walks like she's had a few too many! LOL!

  • Is it a difference whit cerebrellar hypoplasia or not? This kitty needs little more love than a regular kitty.... :)

  • Buddy gets a different kind of love then my other cats...he can't cuddle on my lap for ex. like a normal cat...so I hug him firmly...he likes that...he also likes to be talked to a lot...I talk to him all the time, and he loves table scraps (my other cats would never eat anything like that) Buddy begs at the table like a puppy. All of my babies get love just different ways.

  • Kudos to you for adopting a special needs kitty and giving him an obviously loving forever home!!! =) The world needs more people like you.

  • i wana special needs cat now. theyr so cute nd funny

  • Who cares if he has CH is such a beauty. May God bless him and you for taking this beautiful cat into your life.

  • I have 2 CH cats, one is nearly 2, the other is 12 weeks I just got her on Saturday. I have a lot of videos, bless them all!!! <3<3

  • did buddy die or something?

  • No, Buddy is alive and doing great. I built a huge cat enclosure 10 x10 for him and his brothers so they can be outside and see the birds and other animals whenever they get bored inside. We have had him 9 months now and he is 2. He is finally accepted and playing with my 2 ragamuffins.

  • i miss buddy!

  • hi my name is jessica an i have a beautyful cat of 8 years that has CH and he is the most happy loving cat i ever had and i would love 2 have a house full of CH cats because sometimes there so much better then normal cats

  • Sherry, I loved watching your videos about your precious boy, Buddy. God bless you and your husband for taking this deserving and special one. And tell your husband that if you have 97 cats when you get old you will be the happiest senior citizens around!

  • Buddy is the one with the big heart.. .he has given me so much love and strength. I can't thank the rescue enough for protecting Buddy and his siblings from harm. I hope and pray someone will adopt his brother. They are such wonderful animals...and I love Buddy with all my heart.

  • Hi there! I volunteer at the shelter where you adopted Buddy, and he was always my favorite cat there! I was so so happy to hear from Michelle that he had been adopted into a good home... thank you so much for having a big enough heart to take him in! He truly is a wonderful cat, and I'm so glad he's getting the love he deserves! Thank you again!!
