More than likely you will keep finding a way to disagree with me and get the last words in no matter what i state. So... Have a great summer and I leave this conversation with a link to a great man and his contribution to Journey.
You should be more precise when choosing your username. There were 3 Steves in Journey. Steve Perry, Steve Auguri, and Steve Smith.
But at any rate. You are clearly closed minded and continuing this conversation with you is a waste of time. Respect, hard work, and dedication is obviously not a feature that you present. Even the music genres that I can't stand to listen to, I still hold a high respect for their hard work and dedication to pursue what they believe in and refuse to bash them.
Ok NoSteveNoJourney. Whatever you say. Like I said before, opinions are like assholes everyone has one. So, I think with that said. Journey is an awesome band whether they are doing old or new songs. With emesbex and I knowing Jeremey Hunsicker, a wonderful man who has an amazing voice and actually collaborated with Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain as a songwriter, which resulted in the lead track "Never Walk Away". We have learned that you should respect a band no matter who their new vocalist is.
The first 3 albums were AMAZING musically. The albums after were great as well. That's all that matters.
HIT SONGS ARE IRRELEVANT WHEN TALKING SERIOUSLY ABOUT MUSIC.
You love trying to prove you're "right" about what is only ever going to be an opinion and keep telling everyone to "WISE UP". Here's one for you... GROW UP. Seriously. You need to.
Oh, I did wise up... the day I bought Arrival and found out it was MILES beyond 75% of the filler ballads on TBF. Revelation is inferior to Arrival, but still more consistent than TBF. HITS DO NOT MAKE GOOD MUSIC. Casual fans who only buy into music with the singer they "know" also don't make good music. Some of the best music only has a few hundred fans and is sadly unknown and virtually forgotten. Yeah, I've definitely wised up... A LONG TIME AGO. And GRAMMYS ARE JUST A POPULARITY CONTEST.
Oh, it's YOUR word? So you went back in time and invented it? This is getting really funny, and sad at the same time. I'm glad I don't have any immature MORON friends who act like that in the real world. And in my opinion, both SA and JSS had different takes on Journey's music. They are all great vocalists. They don't try to copy "THE VOICE" and that's why I like them ALL. Ugh. It is an opinion that no singer will come close. Why are you so irritated that others may disagree?
First of all, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.. secondly... Journey is a band- a band is comprised of more than one member and should not be characterized or individualized by one member. The original members of Journey came together in 1973 under the auspices of former Santana manager Herbie Herbert. The band included Neal Schon on lead guitar and Gregg Rolie on keyboards and lead vocals. Bassist Ross Valory and George Tickner as well as a drummer Prairie Prince.
Steve Perry did not join the band until 1977 and was a part of and assisted in Journey's rise to fame. But since then Journey's lead singers have come and gone, and Journey is still as popular as ever... why? Because its the band, not the singer that fuels the fire for over 30 years.
Yes, I am aware of that. Anyone who calls themselves a fan of Journey should know that Neal and Jon wanted to go back to the "Legacy" sound which appears paid off for them, but I believe they may have done even better with a "new" voice, such as JSS. And hits or no is irrelevant as far as good music goes, to really have the opinion otherwise seems foolish. Hit song doe NOT equal good music, nor does radio play. Do you hear what makes it as "hits" today? I rest my case.
I did open my ears, and hear a great hard rock singer every time. I'm just glad I don't go around citing examples of things that aren't fact, only opinions, and also don't call people morons, just because they have a difference in opinion. In my OPINION, Soto definitely has the stuff to front Journey. The voice, the stage presence, the songwriting ability. Sure, he's not "THE VOICE" as in SP, but he's still pretty damn good at what he does, better than most.
Not a Soto sheep, just a music fan who likes diversity in what he hears. Acting very crazed for no good reason than someone has a differing opinion. As I said in a previous comment, Soto sings differently than Perry. Gives it his own feel, but still does the song justice. Again, THIS IS WHAT I LIKED ABOUT SOTO. I'm a fan of Journey, not just GR, SP, SA, JSS, or AP. Only a "moron" constantly attacks someone for having a different opinion than theirs. Are you a politician? Would NOT surprise me!
I AM a Perry fan, I'm just not a Perry Sheep, that is, those who rabidly attack any singer or any fans of that singer who is the current singer of the band, just because they are NOT Perry. I AM AWARE Soto sings differently, and this is what I liked about his tenure in the band. He wasn't a Perry soundalike by any means, he was his own voice, and has a really great live voice and stage presence. Is he Perry? NO. I NEVER said that. YOU NEED TO SEEK HELP. Just a SP/SA/JSS fan here. I dig 'em all.
JSS rules, no matter what he does. I have many CD's from many bands that he played with, and for anyone to say that I am "tone deaf" for thinking the man is a great vocalist, ESPECIALLY with Journey is just foolish. Again, you Perry sheep crack me up. OPEN YOUR EARS TO THE REST. In fact, I never thought I would say this, but I hope Perry's new album is nothing more than a rumour, and he is truly retired from music... just because I now believe the Perry sheep deserve this severe disappointment!!
Oh, many DO agree with me. But if they didn't, I wouldn't care... a wider-held opinion doesn't make it right. You're letting your nostalgic Perry adoration blind you to what great things JSS could have brought to Journey. You Perry sheep crack me up. This is further evidenced by the fact that you get SO upset & mean in these comments, resorting to petty personal attacks. I do believe it is you who are tone deaf. My ears are just fine. And BTW, No NEAL no Journey... get your facts straight.
You Perry sheep crack me up. Really, you do. JSS has CRAZY range... you're just not opening your ears up to it because you just want to sit here and cry about how SP is not in the band. NEAL SCHON IS JOURNEY. He is the only constant. Deal with it!!!
Soto has some great energy on stage and he really is a good singer, he just doesn't have the same vocal range as Steve Perry. I still think Journey should have kept Soto and moved forward and stopped trying to be a Journey Karaoke band they're living in the past too much.
JSS rules. He definitely would have improved as tours would have gone on had they kept him. Perry sheep crack me up how much they're crying about any singer change. They need to realize... IT'S NOT STEVE'S BAND, and get out of their nostalgic phase and move into the now. UGH I really can't stand most classic rock band concertgoers these days... all they want is to relive their past... THEY ARE NOT TRUE MUSIC FANS AT ALL.
Every band Soto's every sang with that I've heard has been very high quality... so YOU, cheeseball, are the wrong one here. Actually, neither of us are right or wrong... ITS ALL A MATTER OF TASTE. But there are a hell of a lot of people that agree with me that JSS kicks serious ass across the board.
well...I forgot to think that this is live, nothing is run through anything...just at the mic...he sounds like crap...thats where perry is better. In the studio he sounds amazing, live...no difference!!!
also, these songs were written for a certain range, JSS does not have it, when he tries to get it, he is all over the place. Deplorable. Off key...gross.
Was Neal high when he signed Soto as an official lead singer? Even if it did only last for the rest of that summer...damn.

Grow up and realize that you don't have ownership of common words. Is your name Donald Trump? Did you trademark "moron"? No? Then shuddap.
