@Lordmonkey52 Maya is very limited... It can only do 3D models and rigging... The motion tracking is done in other programs. The video is edited and color corrected in different programs. Even the rendering is done in different programs in the case of a real movie...

Maya is only about 10% of making a scene.

maya is really an awesome program. however, as a vfx artist in the biz myself, not everything u see on this vid is maya. a lot of those shots were edited, color corrected, and composited in other programs such as nuke, shake, flame, or after effects. still a good vid though.

@demonwheelz1980 pretty obvious... I think they even use more than one 3D program for the scenes. Like Houdini is really good for physics simulation. Zbrush is really good for modelling. I think they just made the animation in Maya. But still really good I love Maya!!!

Dain thats wicked. The graphics are amazing. I have seen some videos with the Maya software and I cant seem to tell if Maya is just the building blocks for the mold, or can it add the details like hair, color, and the realism that is shown in this video. Ordo you need other software to accomplish certain realistic functions? Is it easy to use?

theres a book around called 3d modelling in Maya 7. Its a bit outdated because some of the dropboxes have been renamed in the maya 8.5, but if youu have 7, its a great book to get started with.
