  • It is so magnificient that I can't stop watching it...everyday.

  • Isn't the movie already a coming of age film?

  • I made a recut trailer for Stranger Than Fiction, if you like this trailer please check mine out!

  • This actually makes me want to watch it more than the normal trailer. Good job buddy , and the guy who commented below me, indie is just a word to use against unique people.

  • f indie! don't try to make good movies into crap.

  • Even though this trailer is more serious then the actual film, it is actually very close to the message of the film. Ferris Bueller is a coming of age story. So this trailer hit the nail on the head. When the movie came out in the 80's, they marketed it as the typical cheesy high school comedy. When we all know that this movie is much more then that. So this is an extraordinary piece of editing on your hand, because you managed to make a trailer that is is more faithful then the actual trailer

  • this video could help explain so many problems and fights and conflicts in today. and that things can change if you want it to. it's all about PERSPECTIVE. this video is excellent and just shows i am a sucker for coming of age emotional shiz

  • this is magic. bravo

  • This is really cool. And the very, very cool thing is that this movie also exists, deep inside the crazy, over-the-top movie in the "real" trailer.

  • Really awesome job on this, I've watched it several times already. On a side note: thanks for turning me on to Woodpigeon

  • Really well done- highlighting every moment of angst and cutting out all the frenetic action. Someone watching this trailer before seeing the film for the first time would be caught off guard by the film. A great example of selective editing.

  • this spun Ferris Bueller in a totally different direction.

..but, ya know... me gusta. <3

  • How funny! I just did the EXACT OPPOSITE -- I re-cut the trailer to make a BIG SUMMER TENTPOLE of a movie (see my channel). We used a lot of the same shots in similar ways.

    ...

You totally caught the indie style. At it's heart FBDO isn't even about Ferris, it's about Cameron, but you made it look like the meaningful aspects ARE about Ferris. Really nice work!

  • Amazing

  • This gave me the chills. This is complete art. Thank you.

  • beautiful! Congrats!

  • Good but as the movie was more of a touching comedy, i feel as though it covers only half the movie. Sure this trailer covers that touching half EXCEPTIONALLY well, but it's missing a refreshing splice of comedy which was a huge part of the movie.

  • @Twismyer point: missed.

  • @Twismyer I agree with you

This trailer is great, but too much drama and not enough fun to fully represent the movie

  • Great job

  • Nice

  • Fantastic! A trailer for this movie making it look like more an action/funny film would be awesome! Showing the ferrari scenes, girl scenes, jokes scenes, the Charlie Sheen scene! This movie has more than one "side", you explore the life lesson part of the movie with this trailer. Again: awesome!

  • Where have all the good movies gone...

  • Please don't deprive the world of awesomness like this. Make more

  • I miss this movie too much. and this makes it looks like a drama/comedy.

  • omg this shows me again what I miss nowadays when i watch trailers

  • Amazing. This makes it look more like a drama, than a comedy. I think it would pull in some good money if they did a re-release

  • ... I've said it before and I'll say it again.

    - Life is too fast, and you do not stop and you live your life will end up wasting your time!

    Brazil / Manaus

  • That was amazing...

  • I must agree with everyone else... This is simply amazing!!!!!

    Well done!

    :~)

  • Beautiful... reminds me of Garden State.

  • It's funny, it kind of puts me in mind of Garden State when edited this way.

  • It sort of WAS an indie coming of age film.

  • This is such a great version of the trailer, it presents the movie in a different way but it still captures the greatness of it. Awesome!

  • really well done! I love this movie but you made it look epic.

  • Phenomenal! What program did you use to edit this???

  • Really good!

  • Wow, great job man!

  • AHAHHA! Excellent job!

  • I haven't seen this movie yet and saw this video on tumblr. I thought it was the actual trailer.

  • you did such a good job on this what did you use to edit it??

  • sooo good

  • Wonderfully done!

  • i actually LOVE what you have done with this! B.E.A.utiful!! :)

  • THIS IS SO AMAZING!!! I LOVE WOODPIGEON AND I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

  • fucking amazing. i can't stop watching.

  • Fan. bloody. tastic. It is actually closer to the heart of the movie. I can imagine this is how it would be marketed if it came out today.

  • i really hope you know just how amazing this is

  • @ TheKadka11 this movie does exsist u stupid shit

  • I wish they made this movie.....

  • it would've been very cool to see the shot of the car cut right to the submerged shot of ferris diving into the pool. I think it would've been a very effective visual of motion and action. Just a thought. GREAT WORK ON THE TRAILER! Love it!!!

  • haha this is brilliant

  • Did you write the music?

  • beautiful

  • I think you did a fantastic job of editing. I am a die-hard FBDO movie fan, and this really brought to light the depth that this movie actually holds.

    Well done.

  • Briliant!!!! <3

  • PLEASE MAKE A BACK TO THE FUTURE LIKE THIS! AND A BIG LEBOWSKI

  • Question. What was the music in the trailer?

  • Wow. The mood you set changed it so much. You definitely achieved the "coming of age" feel you were going for and your editing looks proffesional.

  • Wonderful clip! You did it justice.

  • Really good job!

  • We analyzed this in my aesthetics class this week. Amazing.

  • Good job. :)

  • I don't know how I feel right now.

  • I was expecting something silly but this is actually quite appropriate and poignant, well done!

  • Amazing dude. Made it look like a drama hahaha

  • Amazing dude. Made it look like a dram hahaha

  • This is amazing, this is my favorite film and you have done an absolutely amazing job. Sent it to all my friends, I love this!!

  • for editors.

  • The uploaded could make this a truly legitimate living by making trailers for indie films. Sundance would be impressed with your work good job by the way

  • Good work... very very nice job :)

  • John Hughes always makes comedies. But you people need to realize the sadness in this movie. First off, Cameron is in a hellhole because his dad doesn't love him. And, Ferris is stuck with his girlfriend being a year younger than him and him going to college. It also shows how siblings are sometimes amazing. Also, Cameron doesnt know what he is going to do in the future.

  • I love the way the energy builds up at the end, and then it just sort of cuts off. If this was a commercial for a movie coming out it would make me want to see the movie right away.

  • Its amazing how a simple edit job can change the entire tone of a movie. Great job :)

  • I hope to hell you got a job out of this.

  • Outstanding work. If you're not producing these professionally, you should be.

  • Holy smokes. You should be doing this professional. That was amazing. Gave me chills.

  • This gives me CHILLS! great job

  • John Hughes was a genius.

    Good Trailer.

  • awesome

  • Looks like a Wes Anderson film

  • helvetica ;)

  • Stunning. Simply stunning...

  • Very well done! Great work. I like it a lot :)

  • This makes the movie look serious haha

  • made me cry

  • That's WTC Observation Deck @ 0:30, right?

  • @fernandokreutz03 It's the Sears Tower observation deck. (Remember, they're in Chicago.)

  • Awesome, Because the world needs more teen angst!

  • It was like poetry, an icon of a generation pre-Internet.

    Hails to Bueler!

  • how did you strip away the music from the movie when he's running through the trees

  • @MischiefMaker37 The music starts with just a bass line in that bit, so I filtered out most of the bass frequencies. Then there are a few moments where the music isn't actually playing, so I grabbed those bits of sound too. Geeky, but you asked!

  • @JosephsBrett Yeah, I've been editing a lot of these lately and that's the number one problem I run into

  • @JosephsBrett What was the instrumental music in the trailer?

  • @JosephsBrett Really awesome job on this.

  • What if Ferris and Sloane and everything that happened was all in Camerons head? Ferris is the total opposite of Cameron: he's fun, spontaneous and has a loving family and foxy girlfriend. At the beginning of the film, the imaginary Ferris convinces a bed-ridden Cameron to "borrow" his dad's Ferrari 250 GT California and cruise all over Chicago. Given Cameron's crushing social incompetence, it's likely that Sloane is fictional too and represents a girl that he has a crush on. It explains a lot.

  • @Mikeyman159 O.O....If that be the case John Hues would have put that in there. it would be great for a trailer. sorry. That was not what the movie was about. All three including their families and school faculties are a reprensetation of us and who is in our lives. It was about our choices. We could chose to let them determain who we turn out to be in life or chose to make a stand and live like Cameron, Ferris and Sloane decided. In the end taking the day off gave them something to think about.

  • beautiful

  • amazing.

  • The song at 1:46 is "a slight return home by woodpigeon" thumbs up so everyone sees it.

or not i dont really care. It would be sooo easy just to not thumbs up this comment. thats what theyre expecting so thumbs it up. but maybe im trying to manipulate you...maybe the like button signs al-kadis yearbook. or maybe im just saying that so youll trust me. this guy told me he could of rigged the like button to alkadi so he must of not. But maybeeeee. ... that is also my plan....THUMBS UP!!

  • Ferris Buelers day off made me feel like skipping school. this made me weep. nicely done

  • Amazing recut..totally looks like one of those Indie film trailers.

  • this was so fucking perfect

  • This trailer made me cry.

  • 0:43 is my favorite part. Ferris going in for a kiss. Perfect.

  • i love the line "who do you love, me or the car?!" that line was so sad :'( the whole thing with his dad got me kind of choked up. especially the part where ferris was trying to take the blame but cameron wouldn't let him :'(

  • This is a beautiful trailer, much better than the original. I mean, seriously, what is up with all those stupid trailers for 80's movies? I got this movie out from the library; this trailer has made me decide to watch it.

  • @General2528342 you are a hipster

  • 68 people are principals.

  • WHAT IS THE SONG AT 0:46?

  • @daaaancingqueeeen a slight return home by woodpigeon

  • @daaaancingqueeeen "a slight return home by woodpigeon"

  • This is fucking amazing. Holy crap.

  • So fucking hipster....

  • 1:38 you can hear Cameron say "who do you love, me or the car?" In my opinion, this is the most important line in the whole movie

  • Cameron remineds me of krist novoselic

  • loving ur work bro, simple yet very effective!!!

  • This re-cut actually points out something about John Hughes films that a lot of people don't realize. Yes, they were comedies and they were funny but they each had a lot of emotional depth. Giving teenagers a coherent voice, and it being pretty decent too, was something people didn't do. His movies seem superficial or fluffy but only on the surface. This is awesome! lol

  • @RoboticMilkshake I couldn't have said it better.

  • @RoboticMilkshake ya Uncle Buck was my favorite or maybe Home Alone i dunno Breakfast Club maybe its a hard choice PTA is also great but thats not really one of the teen/family films that he did actually PTA was one of the only adult comedies i think John Hughes ever made Uncle Buck was almost a mix of all John Hughes styles teen/family/john candy comedy

  • @delltardboy John Hughes was great because he stayed true to his work. He also made so many DIFFERENT movies in his style, that everyone can find a John Hughes movie they love. I was born in '84 and I love FBDO. I saw Home Alone in theaters and begged my parents to leave!

  • @RoboticMilkshake Along the same lines of this point. I think it would be very interesting to see if the whole film could be recut to give a drastically different feel as this trailer does. Not that Hughes' film wasn't great and brilliant...I just think it would be interesting.

  • the only thing missing is the "official selection" thing for random film festivals.

  • I'm going to be blunt here: 67 people are fucking retarded.

  • I love FB so much I spelled my username wrong after him :D

  • best film EVER in the world of ever!

  • This re-cut is brilliant. Thank you for making this!

  • For a movie that's a staple of the 1980s, this trailer highlights the fact that it was shot in a kind of timeless style. I wouldn't have guessed it was made in the 80s watching this video without having seen the movie.

  • Wow! Gives a totally different feel to the film.

    Some skills you have there!

  • Awesome... just awesome...

  • is that the arcade fire or somethin?

  • @hmcyo it's a slight return home by woodpigeon

  • tears. :)

  • Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

  • Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

  • man o man I love this movie brings back good laughs

  • i absolutely love this video! well done sir, great work! captures the sensual side of the film. It's beautiful.

  • @samsunf90 lol you mean sensitive?

  • Brillaintly put together recut of the movie. It sent a shiver down my spine, but above anything else, it gave the entire movie a completely different feel, although I have to say, not necessarily better, just different in a kind of fuzzy contemplatory way, because as i'm sure most will agree, Ferris is as close to perfect as it could be anyway.

  • goose. bumps.

  • wow this is awesome. great work

  • second time i watched this. had to give props.

  • Awesome, looks so much more pretentious now :)

  • what song is this?

  • It is called "A Slight Return Home" by "Woodpigeon."

  • very good

  • Gave me chills, really cool.

  • I def feel Sofia Coppola. Fantastic job!

  • This is beautiful! Really well done :)

  • this was great!

  • Great job! I hope you decide to do this with more movies!

  • Très beau boulot ! J'adore "Ferris Bueller"... C'est l'un de mes films fétiche... encore Bravo :-)

  • Brilliant. I loved it. One of the best I've seen I a while :D

  • One of the best editing jobs I have seen on YouTube.

  • Well you got the indie comming of age part down to the point! But i can't stand them... lol great trailer though.

  • Love it!

  • Great editing, but you left out the comedic element, which for me was the meat of the movie.

  • @trish1206 How about you read the video description first? That was exactly the purpose of the video.

  • Very intensive and touching - unfortunately it would bring the wrong crowd to the movie theatre....

  • @RudeBwoi3000 Totally agree. But it was a great editing job.

  • @trish1206

    definitely! gave me goosebumps
