If you believe that, then Chauncey Billups was the best player in the NBA in 2004 because he was the best player on that Pistons team. Kobe has a tremendous supporting cast. Wade and Lebron had better overall series against Boston and their team lost. Specially Wade had the best series of the 3 and lost badly because his team sucked.

In my opinion, He only played 3 seasons without a good team and 1 time he missed the playoff having Caron Butler and Lamar Odom on the team. The next 2 seasons he made it to the first round and blew a 3 to 1 series against the suns, disappearing that game 7. Lebron hasn't have the not even a top 3 team in basketball talent wise, he took that cavs team too far anyway.

Now, for Kobe he won the championship (by the way he didn't have a good series against Oklahoma either) and also got named MVP. So, in conclusion Kobe is a great player and has 5 rings but that's also because he has been fortunate to have great players around him. Lebron hasn't experience that and Wade took care of business when he had to. We'll see what happens this year.

Pierce is a lot like Chauncey and Rip style players, except that he's been playing at an all star level for most of his career. If you look at his career, he's far from Kobe, Lebron, etc. The main reason he gets the respect he does is because of his ring, finals mvp, etc. And he deserves that respect as a great player.
