I suggest that if you know history, then you might not be so easily fooled by the government when it tells you you must go to war for this or that reason -that history is a protective armor against being misled.~~~~ Howard Zinn
LOL, yeah i fought it a little odd that someone had one for just themselves, know that i know that it does not any features for home PCs i now see what you said is unbelievable. lol XD
I think it is quicker to use a mouse and takes less coordination. Why flail my arms around when I can just complete the same task with the flick of a wrist?
You bring up an excellent point there. IF in the event that this becomes a standard, there will be a paradigm shift from mouse-clicking to arm-flailing as you call it :) And I would like to see a limit in making this too prevalent in everyday life. I don't know if I'd want to work and play with this type of technology in everything I do.
In contrast to this point however, I certainly see the value of this tech. in such areas as this demo has shown - geographic/traffic/local aspects
Obviously, this technology is not meant to replace the "mouse and keyboard pc". It is meant for things you CAN'T do with the mouse and the keyboard. It's a paradigm shift for application development. And I don't know about you, but I SOOOOO want to play an RTS on that thing...
An RTS, or a game like Black and White, instead of controlling the hand of god with a mouse, you can actually use your own hand and pick up the creatures and through them into a lava pit, um, I mean help them to a nice lake to drink.
Hand-eye co-ordination should be more intuitive to you than mouse-clicking. Even though I'm good with the mouse, I'm still better with my hands. If you got your hands on this thing you would be converted.
That would be going backwards, one major component of innovations to make your life easier is to minimize the work that needs to be done, and by moving your hands and arms around, you are increasing the physical work, it might be fun for 30 mins or so, but you can sit their in the office for 10 hours like that. Its also not as accurate down to the exact pixel like a mouse, but hey its good for the kids cause they can finger paint in photoshop.
@unreal3x I really don't think they would forget to include a mouse option. There's still a computer in there after. And we've gotta have our usb's don't we? haha... (New tech advancements in usb fields BTW everyone look it up!)
Great video from the BI conference. If possible can you correct the title of the video 'Microsoft Busniess Intelligence Surface Demo' so that business is spelled properly. Thanks for sharing.
