  • It's you're groundspeed which determines youre flight time isnt it?

  • @dlsiks hmmm well down here in the states, the faa only mandates that they show empty when the tanks are actually empty. nothing says the guage has to read accurately at any other time, so they could legally read empty at any other time as well, even when full. so i can understand why he would be skeptical of the guages.

  • He doesnt make a good example as a cfi for students. He takesoff with a tailwind and takes his hand off the throttle below a safe altitude, not safe. He doesnt even mention checking his engine instruments and airspeed on takeoff.

  • this 'hippy' doesn't have someone firing surface to air missiles at him however. which is never what you want after your cereal right?

  • Expert village? More like the village idiot.

  • if you want the best jion the navy and land on a flight deck..screw these hippes like this guy.

  • As a pilot I have to tell you he did a fantastic job on his pre flight for you people that dont have a clue but seem to open your pie hole go take a lesson or two. It always seem that the uneducated are the first to judge.

  • ok I have been driving a car for 12 years, and one of the things I have learned is to never take your eyes off the road while driving. Now, I respect teachers but this right here is making me nervous, he is pointing to everything, there are a whole bunch of switches, and meters and everything.....and it does not look like he is looking ahead of him....can someone tell me what is going on?

  • It's yahoos like this that give GA a bad name.

  • he is from arizona that explains it

  • This bloke hasn't got a clue! Would you want to learn with someone who tlaks like that? he would do my head in!

  • This guy hasn't got a clue about anything. Your attitude indicator/artificial horizon does not show rate of turn! It shows your attitude and your bank angle. Even little things like this are unacceptable to be taught to the student. A standard rate (3 degree per second) turn can occur at a wide variety of bank angles depending on your airspeed. Flying is not a joke and you only want to learn from the best. Watching this man's videos, it is apparent that he is not "the best".

  • @americaowns11 at least he knows more about planes than u

if ur not a real pilot

  • You're brilliant, aren't you? I am a real pilot.

  • o yeah? Well I'm a frickin astronaut and i say your full of shit.

  • "never trust your fuel gauges." 1:10

Then how do you know how much fuel you have

  • You should check visually inside the tanks. When you know how much fuel you have and how much you are burning per hour then you can work it out. I flew a C152 and one guage showed full and the other guage showed 1/4. Because I knew both tanks were full, I knew that one of the guages was faulty.

  • You check by hand before you get in the airplane.

  • You know how much fuel you have by knowing how much fuel you put in your tank by visually inspecting the quantity before take off. Then you can figure out how much fuel you have by calculating fuel burn.

  • Just check it before take off, with your fuel consumption and your fuel quantity you can calculer your range and endurance.

  • THis place has rudder control.... I think he meant to say "RUDDER TRIM". I was always taught to keep my hand on the throttle until reaching a safe altitude to make sure the power does not come back. I did not see him do that.

  • continuing from my last comment; my CPL examiner told me about, a DC-10 full of pax departing, pilots forgot just one check, 'flaps set to take off position' result was the aircraft couldnt produce enough lift and ran off the end of the runway killing everyone on board.

So you may think that by him making so many small mistakes means nothing, its these things that are dangerous.

Personally I dont believe him to be a safe instructor to learn from

  • Ok the artificial horizon shows angle of bank not rate of turn, the turn and slip indicator shows rate of turn not angle of bank as he said. This is the second video of his Ive watched, and its clearly not not just a little mistake that we all make.. this is continual, you would expect that from someone of his experience (so Ive heard) he should be more proficient and not make this mistakes. These are the small mistake that cause accidents

  • This guy is a terrible instructor by the looks of his videos. Ive also noticed a few "oops" in his terminology.

  • Do you also teach your students to take off with a tail wind?

  • I mean "work"

  • Hi I'm a freshmen at college and I am very interested in aviation, thats why I want to change my major. Can you tell me what courses/schools do I have to go through to become a pilot?

  • I think you just need a good local flight school, get some solo flight time in, work on your instrument rating and your engine rating (single engine, multi-engine, jet, etc.) I'm aiming for a Dec. entry in a aviation mechanic program. I don't want to spend my life doing anything but working with planes

  • Me too,I've also though about aviation mechanic. Thanks for the info!

  • if you wanna be a pilot, go to a well known flightschool near by, and they will give you all the indfo. youll end up going to a tech school that has a commercial pilot program. (thats what my course is called) but its not a requirement to go to school for it.

  • @iceman050890 yea join the navy land on a flight deck then your top gun.with a job when you get out

  • very good
