fuck they were very heavy for their Time & angus's metallic shredding & riffs must've been murder to some unsuspecting ears & not to mention the icing on the cake the immortal BON SCOTT & his powerhouse dirty vocals were definately the reflection of his creative lyrics he wrote the words like he lived it..he was the one that broke outta jail, his the gambler that entered sincity,he was the bad kid in problem child etc...etc..intelligence poured outta him like sweat TRUE GODLIKE Genius...
“(Malcolm) He (S. TYLER) really went out of his way, even though he can’t remember it now because he says all of those days are a blur but we said, ‘You picked us up, put us on your tour and you got us on The Midnight Special [TV show].’ He said, ‘It’s all a blur for me.’ ‘Well you were a good guy back then!’ Even though he had bad memories. (Angus) We filled in the parts that he couldn’t remember, you know?”
Almost seems like the crowd is not ready for these bad boys. Its almost like watching michael J Fox rocking out his guitar solo in Back to the Future movie. They all kind of stand there going... huh? You know you have made it if Nugent and Tyler introduce you on Midnight Special. WOW!!!
I saw ACDC as the opening act for Aerosmith in 1978. We had never heard of them before and we were Aerosmith fans at the time. ACDC were fantastic. Funny with great rocking songs. Aerosmith were horrible. As said before it was only a matter of weeks before ACDC were an opening act.
Uncle Ted, Steven Tyler, and Bon all at together in their prime. What a gem this is. Would have been cool if Kiss, Van Halen, and Rush were there too. That would have indeed been an an allstar gathering.
Simply awesome song and album. I own the early ACDC albums all the way up to Black and Back. The remasters were done right. No compression or loudness added. Was rockin out to these guys the other day at work.I put together cameras security cameras Walmart,Star Bucks Coffee Shops and police cars. If you are at a Star Bucks or Walmart look up and see a camera we put that shit together and repaired it.
Naa..they toured the USA on their first album. I worked their show several times at a small theatre in Wheeling WV and the arena down the street. I talked to Angus. he was a very gracious person and was happy to be rockin in the USA.
what a lame ass crowd, you got the motor city madman and seven tyler tellin you these guys rock, and 90% of the crowd sucks, I don't care if you have never heard of them or australia in 1978, if you cant recognize you suck. If you were there you should be ashamed of yourselves!
@ATLWAR What you have to understand was this was something completely new. No one had heard of ACDC. There hard rock was something new and the crowd wasn't sure how to react.... and by the end of it the crowd were getting pretty into the groove.. BON rocked in this performance :D \m/
Bad audio on this...much better sound is available elsewhere...great talents...like others said..it is sad what passes for most of popular music these days..Foster the Fucking Retarded People and nonsense like Bieber & co,.....My 14 yr old dtr has grown up looking at my vast LP collection...See likes Kiss, A.Smith,Uncle Ted Ac/Dc and a new band called Black Veil Brides.good Musicians with a modified Kiss/Alice Cooper/ look with a Pantera Sound...THERE IS HOPE YET!!!
ted nugent is a pussy. one of these "hunters" who'd cry without a catering truck within range of his golf cart. not fit to carry bon scott's ashes. in hell, bon will be the one ramming a gigantic boar spear up ted's behind. from the throne he kicked the devil off of.
i was 12 and saw this performance with a buddy. a week later we heard they were to be in buffalo opening for UFO. talked my mom into buying tix and taking us to shea's theater. seats were in the 2ND ROW. AC/DC blew our 12 year-old minds...it was like the twilight zone for us being 12 and in the 2nd row at an AC/DC concert. after a LONG intermission, the promoter came out to say "UFO got busted at the border" and wouldn't be performing. so we got another set from AC/DC. good times.
AC/DC Rocks; as does Ted Nugent! Long live the 70s! Anybody who doesn't like Ted Nugent or AC/DC is obviously a communist and needs to leave the country.
So all on the same show, Steven Tyler interviewing Ted, then introducing AC/DC...same friggin' show!! I'm glad I grew up in the 70's. Feel sorry for kids nowadays...now it would be iCarly interviewing Beebs then introducing Kesha??
I dont know what kind of person Ted nugent was when this was shot, but man has that beenn a catastrofy.maybe he has some of the same people that supprt sarah palin.I think that speak for it self
Unbelievable that this video only has 46k views. This is rock and roll history in the making. Bon's cocky/confident/supreme vocals are what will make this video stay at the top of my favourite list!
i was showing a acdc video to my young cousin an he said how come that guy wears his shit so high,i said thats bon scott AND IF YOU FUCK WITH HIM you gotta fuck with me first
I was in the fifth or sixth grade when this was on the Midnight Special. My dad always let me stay up late on weekends, and when AC/DC played, I distinctly remember him rolling his eyes and saying they must be the Australian Sex Pistols. Two years later, everyone I knew could recite nearly every word off the Hell's Bells Album.
This could be on one of AC/DC's first USA shows. The crowd had no idea that they are watching rock and roll history. Bon would be dead a few years later.
kinda funny what Ted Nugent said to introduce them when most people these days only know him from shooting animals with arrows. Long Live the ghost of Bon Scott perhaps the best rock and roll front man ever.
@axlfoleyfanatic who said Bon Scott is god....he´s a son of god like me and everybody. An idol is good for all of us, to know that there is something to do from one of us. And Bon did it- he is my idol and he is a god of Rock and if you have only stupid things to say about religion and theres no god beside me or something you are in the false century my friend . We are music friends and thank GOD he gave us the gift to have ears and fingers and voices and instruments to make ROCK. Rock on Bon!
When talent mattered. Thank God I grew up in this genre. Today's "artists" aren't qualified to even carry Ted, Steven, or Bon's soiled jockstraps to the laundry!
@drummerbuzz Ha! Ha! Ha! so right mate. Acdc use to play at my local pub in Australia all the time back then. Lots of other great pub rock bands did too. We had shit loads of them. Now look at the little girl shit they try to push as music. Maybe if your 10 years old fag or a teen girl you'd think its cool. None of the stupid people (singing HA!) today would have made it onto a stage in Australia back then without getting a crowd bottling.
@boltonox Yo man, absolutely, if you want to have that much fun like me, we had a concert in our own pup in Bavaria last night. The newcomer metal band Order to Resist did a great job. We only where 22 guys and maids but that was a great experience, we had so much fun...come and get the feelin´...only for invited persons.
I saw this episode when it first came out, and lemme tell ya, it blew my mind. AC/DC, Nugent & Aerosmith in one fuckin' show, jack. Back when real rockers actually knew how to play & sing.
But hey, we got Lady Gaga & Justin Bieber today - right?
@AnnihilatingAngel ya you got it. This kinda experience we made at this particular time is golden. But noone will talk about Gaga´s or Bieber´s in 35 Years.I think. Rock on...
@AnnihilatingAngel Wow! Now Thats a fuckin SHOW!!!! Ya lucky bugger! The best concert ive been to was a 5 hour out door night concert with ZZ TOP, THE ANGELS, and ROSE TATOO playing a tripple header on a vacant airstrip runway on the GOLDCOAST in Australia 1983 and it was B.Y.O! and everyone drove there and drove home....we didnt have inforced drink driving in QLD back then so unless you actually crashed ya car you were pretty sweet. They're doing it again in April 2011 and i cant wait!
Hey guys, I´ll have a Bon Scott Tattoo at January 5th in 2011. Simply script in a fat black. Hope I´ll be not the last who do this. I think this is my real statement for this man.
I wanted to add it with c u soon, but it looked a bit too much.
I remember seeing that late at night in like 8th grade....well the rest is history...after Highway To Hell album came out shortly thereafter.....all my friends knew who AC/DC was 4EVER!!!!
@motoracerx34 I thought Angus was 19 in `78. Don´t ya mean his elder brother Malcom? But however these boys are really too young to believe that once they made this show. Only for this, that they sawn themselves nothing like this at all.
Bon Scott ment in a TV-Interview at this years too see in Family Jewels DVD Pack when he said we are no Punk Rock Band and I don´t really know myself what we are but we just play rawRock. And that´s what it´s all about. And don´t they do it ´til today?
@wexstefan No sir, born in 1955, 23 in 78, they started when he was 18 in 74, maybe 17 in 73, had Dave Evans as lead singer, obviously he didnt last long then came Bon the Great.
I' m pretty sure Angus' knees used to hurt bad after doing all this Chuck- Berry- Style rockin. And he's still doin it, just saw him last week in concert. Even looked better now than a couple of years ago.
I saw AC/DC open up for Aerosmith. It was my first concert. We didn't know what to make of the drooling guitar player who mooned us and the singer who sounded like a weasel in heat.
Me and my band watched this show as it aired trying to imitate the licks on our instruments as this played. It was fun. There were other great acts on this MS episode. One that came n went was Explorer. Damn they were good and never seen or heard from again.
Yes,so was it. I heard the Jailbreak song as an 11 Year old boy back in ´77 on the radio and as I heard the first 3 accords I knew something new is here...but I never could imagine what great thing can happen. ´91 I had a lightly simular feeling, when I heard Smells like teen spirit first. But this ´77 feeling was deeper, far deeper...

Has it really been 30 years???? Bon would have turned 64 in July.

Brilliant comment and I agree 2000%

Yes,so was it. I heard the Jailbreak song as an 11 Year old boy back in ´77 on the radio and as I heard the first 3 accords I knew something new is here...but I never could imagine what great thing can happen. ´91 I had a lightly simular feeling, when I heard Smells like teen spirit first. But this ´77 feeling was deeper, far deeper...
