As far as filmmaking technique goes, this was a good debut. He made really good use of background layouts, and really tried to give the cityscapes the funky feel of Robert Crumb's comics. How did he do the really slow truck in on the frame of the city while the crow jives to the music? With an optical printer?

I love how they played with the cops...the "dumb rookie" has the tough gruff voice and the smart veteran has the moron-type voice.....and as it happens in a few parts of the movie, with it being a commentary on 60s lifestyles and obv making fun of people who lived those lifestyles, it makes complete sense to introduce 'chapters' of the film with old songs from the 40s and 50s, songs from the youth of the people criticizing such 60s attitudes...the most wonderful being "Bo Diddley" seen here
