This is an awesome song that touches the depth of the soul. Rarely can the second performer touch the emotions of the originator, however, Jars Of Clay took a potentially complicated piano song and brilliantly arranged it for a band. The guitar parts, which I'm particularly interested in, were very well interpreted and presented. Nice job on the pictures.
hm....I still prefer Rich Mullin's version of this song, there's this feeling of desperation as well as hope in how he sang it. On this one though, I still feel the emotion but it's more melancholic than it is raw. Add the fact that the piano in the original version gives it a more solitary feel to the song, as if the song is just between you and God. This version feels more open, not that I find that wrong but it doesn't have the same moment of intimacy.

@SDannieG yes, this recording is Jars of Clay COVERING Rich Mullins' "If I Stand."
I love them both, but Rich's gravelly voice breaking on the choruses lends a sense of urgent desire that the smoother version by JOC misses.

@SDannieG It's written by Rich Mullins, performed by Jars of Clay. It's off a tribute album to Mullins.
