We owe Greece our freedom as they fought many wars outnumbered for freedom. In WW2, Greece could have allowed the Germans to pass through and not join the warbut they stood defiant! They were the only nation to fight both Italy and Germany in WW2. Tiny Greece ended up crushing the German paratroopers during the battle of Crete to an extent were Hitler refused to use the paratroopers again in the war. (Operation Mercury)
